Pokémon TCG: Sword and Shield—Brilliant Stars

Anatomy of a Fake Pokémon Card

Ok well I am new to this site and read the first post and these dollar store cards my sister likes to buy were getting pretty damn good and pretty damn suspicious.

I have some cards that are mispelled, are missing the ' in the e and are plain old awful looking cards i wasnt really even looking at.

I have some cards that I really dont know what to say about.

First of all they are very "thick" almost a waxy feel to the front you could say. They are all SP pokemon im not quite sure what that means but they are, under what it says usually saying HT, number and stuff it says Gym leaders pokemon or Elite 4 pokemon. If i recall from the game this is correct information but I have never seen this before. They have no description on the bottom tht tells you something useless like most cards do.

The backs are all very dark, actually these probably are fakes this is kinda funny how bad this is lol. I jus thought maybe this one type of card has this but I dont think so.

I got this Giratina card that was so fake I had to laugh.

Its poke pokwer is let loose which doesnt sound to right to me and its attack is earth power

(Normal Energy) Earth Power 60

Flip 2 coins. This attack does 10 damage times the number of heads to each of yuor opponents benched pokemon. (dont apply weakness and blach blach blach)

I mean i guess that is legit but doesnt sound right, and this card is so slanted to the right i looked at it and almost cried anyone could have bought this.

I might have sorted out 60 fake cards from all mine and there is probably more I havent caught,

is there a way to show pictures on here easy I could just show you them but I am not sure how I am kind of new. Thanks

I have two Level X cards, a floatzel and a palkia all seeming legit i guess but the floatzel wasnt shiny so i was like alright prolly fake and the border is also silver not gold, same with the palkia it has a yellow border not silver but it is still kind of yeelow shiny not really like that dark yellow. I also have a yeelow swablu what the hell. this happiny i have under hospitality a no energy attack it says for pokemon pok e mon with the ' i have this for like 2 other cards.

Is this illegal or what, my sister has prolly spent 60 dollars on cards over the year and 80% of them are fake but 20% are real? I got a real gardevoir X, also the two fake level X came in the same pack thought we hit the jackpot, guess not DX

About a week ago I had posted some Fakes here that I had received from childern attending the league. I offer to give them real cards in exchange for the fakes so they do not have to worry about which cards they have are real.
This is a base 1 Dugtrio: Text boxes are clearly visible.
[gal=50760]Dugtrio[/gal]

This fake GE Beedrill has incorrect energy attack costs:
[gal=50750]Beedrill[/gal]

This fake Cyclone energy has no set or set number listed, note that there is an ' over the e in Pokemon:
[gal=50757]Cyclone Energy[/gal]

Side by side comparison (Left is fake)
[gal=50759]Darkrai[/gal]
[gal=50746].[/gal]

Multiple flags that are raised: incorrect spelling, incorrect attack costs, no ' over the e, etc.

More Fakes:

Inside a fake. It appears to me that they start off with cardboard or something like it then they simply create a cheap sticker and place it on top off that:

The county fair started where I live and already I have heard reports that vendors are selling the fakes.
note that the heatranLVX's pokepower it says attack instead of attach

I have a question. I know earlier in the thread, someone mentioned that it's nearly impossible for legit cards to have typos, but I bought a blister pack at Toys R Us that had a consistent typo. Instead of saying "Flip a coin", nearly all of the cards said "Filp a coin" with the "L" and "I" reversed. I don't THINK they were fakes, because Toys R Us is pretty reputable (they better be, for how much they charge...) and everything else on the cards seemed perfectly fine.
If I track them down, I will scan them for you to see. My boyfriend and I accidentally put them in our binder and I forget which ones they were. :[

okay, thank you. i was pretty positive they were real, but that caught my eye. thanks for clearing that up!

One time my mom bought 75 booster from a flea market for $20.
.
She brought them home. Lance=my brother

Me: *feels booster packs. * "Lance, there's soemthign wrong with these boosters"
Lance: "How so?"
Me: "They feel weird" *opens them*"The cards feel 'crispy' or 'rough'."
Lance: ?
Me: "They're fake"
.
Bottom live: Even the actual BOOSTER PACK WRAPPING feels different.
AND
NEVER
EVER
buy boosters from a flea market!

"How can you tell if old DCE are fake?"

Hold the DCE up to a light bulb (put it against the light bulb); if you clearly see the Poke Ball and the words Pokemon --> It is fake.

Also look for errors on the card like mis-spellings.
.
I'm an expert on finding fake cards. lol

I need help please! I have a card that I am wondering if it is fake because I am interested in selling. It is a Growlithe from the Legendary set, 1st generation. I checked for everything you suggested but I did not see any of those mistakes. However, it is holo but the design is like round fireworks that appear everywhere except for the picture. I have a Caterpie Legendary, 1st generation that is exactly the same. If anyone could help I would really appreciate it! Thank you!

Don't have any scans but, one kid brought in a jigglypuff about three years ago and it's attacks were transform and psychic. It also has 100,000 hp XD

Well, the cards with wacky attacks and HP aren't too much of a concern.
Everyone should realize that those are fakes.

The tricky ones are those that look close to real.

From Bulbapedia:
"EX Power Keepers

* Charmeleon: Some prints of this card indicate that this Pokémon evolves from Vulpix, despite having a picture of Charmander. "

I didn't collect Power Keepers, so I can't confirm this myself, but Bulbapedia's pretty good at listing error cards. It's also listed in the Serebii Forums... Hmm...

I just got my hands on 60 counterfeit cards from that fake UL 30-pack going around. Which gallery should I upload the scans to? I have both the cards AND the packaging. Figured it might help to get these guys out there. Some of them were actually rather convincing.

I appreciate the thought, but we don't want to have complete galleries of fake versions of all the real cards. A few examples are fine to have, but making them into a complete scanned gallery would give them credence as a "real collectible".
