Pokémon TCG: Sword and Shield—Brilliant Stars

Best and Worst Art

All of the E Reader sets are amazing, and the legend cards are some of the most graphically detailed cards we've ever gotten. Those are probably staples and a lot of them have been discussed so far.

Honestly I might be the only person, but I kindof like the "clay figure" cards : P

Also, this card is probably one of the funniest I've ever seen: http://pokegym.net/gallery/showimage.php?i=17995&c=94

I really have no idea where to start for the worst art ever, though--I'll have to look through and see if I can find anything that offends my eyes

I love alot of the art on the newest sets, but I still have a soft spot for the old stuff. I was always a fan of Rocke'ts Zapdos and Rocket's Mewtwo from Gym Challenge. There was a dark, eerie feel to the artwork that always stuck out as unique to me.

I also love the original Dark Tyranitar.

All of the Legends are amazing obviously. Not a huge fan of most of the Primes. They're just essentially a shot of the Pokemon's head . . . boring.

I'm not sure I have a favourite, but I'll go ahead and point out some of the ones I like the best anyways...

Scyther UD (Uncommon) (He just looks uber-awsome. Scyther cards in general, do, though. Even his Jungle art is good.): http://pokegym.net/gallery/showimage.php?i=50626&c=247
Hitmonchan CL (It looks really well done to me, it's clear they put a lot of effort into it): http://pokegym.net/gallery/displayimage.php?imageid=51502&c=259
Vulpix AQ (It looks so happy playing with that Apricorn. :D): http://pokegym.net/gallery/showimage.php?i=48010&c=107
Team Magma's Rhyhorn (Uncommon) (To be perfectly honest, I hadn't seen this guy until I was flipping through sets to refresh my memory, but he looks freaking awsome. Looks like he's about to roar at an erupting volcano or something.): http://pokegym.net/gallery/showimage.php?i=47592&c=102
Battle Tower SV (The way it looks, you just KNOW it has to be an important building. ;p): http://pokegym.net/gallery/showimage.php?i=48296&c=223

Also, not all the clay models and Sugimori art is bad by any means.

Examples of Sugimori art include Lt. Surge's Electabuzz ( http://pokegym.net/gallery/showimage.php?i=46174&c=115 ) and Charizard PK ( http://pokegym.net/gallery/showimage.php?i=20397&c=133 ).

Examples of good models include Slugma UD <though they could have picked a more appropriate background> ( http://pokegym.net/gallery/showimage.php?i=50658&c=247 ) and Delibird TRR ( http://pokegym.net/gallery/showimage.php?i=3262&c=27 ).

As for worst art, I'd say probably some Base Set Sugimori art, maybe Bill or Caterpie (though they gave it a good background). They're pretty low quality compared to pretty much any other set's Sugimori art, even ones from before FRLG.

Best Art:
Even though it's seen plenty, Gengar SF still has really cool art. Very dark, which described Stormfront as a whole fairly well.
For the same reasons, I like Giratina PL #10 as well: http://pokegym.net/gallery/showimage.php?i=42366&c=198
I'm not a fan of Ponyta overall, but I still like the shiny version from Arceus: http://pokegym.net/gallery/showimage.php?i=49277&c=227

Worst Art:
Any claymation/figurine art, save maybe Snorunt AR(http://pokegym.net/gallery/showimage.php?i=49226&c=227)
I wasn't really a fan of some of the e-reader art, especially Weezing Expedition(http://pokegym.net/gallery/showimage.php?i=47326&c=108) and Houndoom Skyridge(http://pokegym.net/gallery/showimage.php?i=48350&c=106). IMO, they both look like hyper-realistic versions of each, which makes them really ugly(well, Weezing's ugly to begin with, but w/e)

Yes, that Espeon from Neo Discovery is beautiful.

Acmeminer, a thread is a discussion, not a poll.

I dont want people bashing eachother and they're favorite art.
A simple "I dont really like that art" could suffice

I LOVE the art fromSkyridge! The ones that look over realistic are my favorite!

I always loved the original Team Rocket set's artwork, such as slowpoke. anything that style is very interesting to me. i can't pick a favorite, i can't even pick a favorite pokemon.

but I DO know that i HATE anything 3d-modeled i've seen so far. i don't want them to look all futuristic like that. blegh. the E series blastoise is EPIC.

Best= http://pokegym.net/forums/view.php?pg=towercard&imageid=50597 is one of them that is up there. Besides being beautifully done in every way in terms of coloring, shading, and overall design, it fits the mood and pokemon perfectly. Scyther is known for being invinsibile in the grass, and obviously this wouldn't be a reasonable strategy for Scizor--he owns the night.

There is just such a pressence about that card and rarely do you see that from a card that isn't facing towards you. A great job.

Worst? I remember some really old cards that had this really flat blocky looking art---if anyone remembers them. IT was from or slightly after the Neo Geo set. It was obviously done on purpose so it's hard to hate it but because it's good at whatever it's doing...but it sucks.

i like luxray gl x the most it looks like its stepping out to u lol
the worst hmm... shining magicarp because i HATE magicarps cause they only look like their dying from flopping on the ground!!!!

I love Magicarp, now. Use to look at them as pathetic, but those were dark times.

I had my Magicarp out on SS and when I talked to it it said it was struggling to keep up. After a bit it said that it was happilly following behind me. What a wonderful Pokemon. I almost didn't want it to evolve but Tackle just didn't cut it then.

Anyways, when I have the time I'm going to raise a Carp to 100 and enter a tournament with it. It'll be my ace. Never see it coming...bwahahaha!

Relic Hunter ;) But in all seriousness, I have always really liked the original Base Charizard - something about that card always seemed awesome. Gotta agree with Ninetales ex as well!

The Base Charizard art, on the original, shadowless card, examplified Charizard in all his glory. That card means a lot to a lot of people.

Best: Anything by artists Kanako Eo or Kawayoo. I have a commons folder just for thier(and similar artists) stuff. MATCH also does excellent cards.

Worst: Anything from exDeoxys. I don't even want the holos in my rare binder they are so. vomit inducingly.UGLY.

The first card I really said "I don't like that art" on was Oddish from Genesis. One of my favorites was one I used in a deck for a while... I love the look of Dark Charizard.

There might have been better or worse art in the years since those were released, but I think they're still notable, and were the first cards I thought of when I saw the topic title, mostly because of my nostalgia.
