Any ideas on how to stop the Beartic threat?

Cobalion. Does 20 damage plus 20 more for each energy attached to defending pokemon. As Beartic needs 3 energy that leaves Cobalion doing 160 (due to weakness). This will also down Kyurem, even with an Eviolite!

All this for MC. Yes please :D

Cobalion may be weak to fire saying how its metal type. with reshiram being popular i dunno if its a good idea to play Cobalion atm.

on the topic of Beartic, imo i'm not so sure if it can stand on its own. its first attack is pretty good but your opponent can simply retreat, switch, fighting tag or promote a new active upon take a KO. you can pair it up with Vileplume but that will put you at a distinct disadvantage if you cant get vileplume out ASAP. the card might be a good donphan counter. but not sure if its playable beyond that.

Well there you have it. Prepare for the worst format ever. Just let me welcome zekrom and donphan to the top tables.

I am just waiting for a card like Card Destruction that I can use on Pokemon Catcher and Junk Arm. That way, once one is used you can't use them anymore.

Oh, i agree! Cobalion on his own will be rubbish. However, as you (theoretically) need only a basic and one metal or rainbow energy he could work as a tech. There is a very real chance that Beartic and / or Kyurem will be extremely popular. I've been looking for counters for a while and he is the only good counter to both.

He's there for Beartic / Kyurem. How likely is it that in those matches you will also see Reshiram?

Promo Ducklett just got released as the English BW17 promo, though. Otherwise I came up with the exact list that you did, except I didn't realize that there was another Basculin in addition to Black Collection's.

Shoot, now we're down to 21 cards. :< 8 exclusives in the first 30 seems excessive... Maybe Beartic's really 20, not 30?

Yeah, there was a Basculin in the Virizion Strength Deck. This is getting really puzzling. :)

They're bringing back MD-on?

It's by no means an md on format. With the cards we have and now catcher, it's safe to say stage 2 decks are unplayable unless you go first and have 2 candies in hand and a way to search your stage 2 pokemon.

I think you missed the sarcasm......

i highly doubt stage 2 decks are done for...there are way too many for them not to be playable.....there up to something...

If Pokemon Catcher is going to make the game "unplayable", wouldn't that mean Pokemon Reversal made the game "unplayable" 50% of the time?

No because reversal is risky and people dont want to use it (they still do but thats why you dont see it everywhere) And if lost a ton of games to t2 reversal your vulpix, knockout ...

Hmm, pokemon catcher is finally coming.
I knew there was a reason I was getting sudden urges to play yugioh for the past few days. My mind was preparing itself.
JK: I don't think pokemon catcher is going to be that broken. while some decks will have and upper edge now, I still love this format.

Donphan has a hard counter coming soon enough in Kyurem, so Catcher will hardly break Donphan. Plus any deck can use Catcher to "snipe" around Donphan's body.

Does this mean were down to just one coin flip(the opening flip) deciding the winner?

Umm... If you use Catcher on your first turn, it means that your opponent had more then one Pokemon, which in turn means the opening coin flip alone can't determine the winner.

Catcher will be a great card, but it isn't going to make the format like it was with SP. Every deck can benefit from it. All it does is add another niche in planning your strategy. This game shouldn't (and until SP had never been) a game so simple someone can just pick up a deck for the first time one week and *poof* master it the next.

Thinking the exact same thing, it is just too obvious that these are the abilities ones, look at the design of the artwork. Also why print a tin that have starter deck cards.

Cards which aren't the actual promo card released are often used as stand-ins in early marketing materials. I wouldn't read to much into it. What's pictured could be accurate, but it has just as much likelihood of being inaccurate in that respect.
