Pokémon TCG: Sword and Shield—Brilliant Stars

Choice Of Pokemon

I don't see why you can tell these members what to watch, dark_pokemon2... And especially if they are posting here, they don't just watch Pokemon anyway. You even say about yourself you watched this show 3 years ago, that's more recently than most people, who stopped in 2001-2, when the whole TV show craze started to die, over seven years ago. I've not seen an episode of Pokemon since that time, but I don't find it to be "lame" or whatever to discuss the show from a mature standpoint, even now. Sure, my tastes have evolved greatly, but simply talking about Pokemon is not bad in any way...

Besides, Pokemon is definitely not for 5-year-olds, it shows too much violence for them. Animals attacking each other at the bidding of their masters? Thats more for 7-10 year olds, who can actually understand the situations of Ash and his friends.

I think it is great that they have new beginners (Dawn) with a new starter, but I feel they are not developing Ash's character as they could. Ash should train new pokemon in a new region, but he should keep some other pokemon from past seasons as well (besides just pikachu). This would add to his character as a maturing trainer, and not just as a novice all over again.

Ash currently has a Gliscor, staravia, monferno, grotle, Buizel and Pikachu. Two of those six are good Pokemon and two of the others are close to being good Pokemon. All of them were obtained as basics and only two are still basics. Granted, one of them will always be a basic.

dawn has a Mamoswine, but that's about it as far as decent Pokemon go. She's more concerned with cute Pokemon anyway given that she's a Coordinator and not a Trainer.

brocks Pokemon are all basics (well, sudowudo technically did evolve from bonsly). He also has the leetest crogunk and happini around. :D

translations for those who do not speak japanese. :p

So far i have translated it a bit: Ash currently has a: gliscor, monferno, grotle, staraptor, buizel, and pikachu!!

No, Ash doesn't have those Pokemon except Pikachu. He currently has, due to my memory from the last episode I watched, a Gligar, Chimchar(?), Turtwig, Staravia, and Pikachu. I think that's it though. I don't remember Ash having a Buizel though. Doesn't Dawn have the Buizel or something? Oh wait that's Piplup....I'm confused, now, thank you very much Riq.*joking* I gotta run anyway.

Yes, he does have those Pokemon. You're way behind.

Some time ago, Hikari traded Satoshi her Buizel for his Eipam. Eipam evolved into Eteboth shortly after and more recently she gave it away so it could play ping pong.

In episode 554 (DP85), Shigeru (Gary Oak) gave Satoshi a Razor Fang to evolve his cowardly Gligar. However, Satoshi doesn't let Gligar evolve into Glion until it gets over its fears. He lets it evolve later the same episode.

In episode 569 (DP100), Satoshi's Naetle (Turtwig) evolved into Hayashigame (Grotle) during a battle with Shinji's Donkarasu (Honchkrow).

In episode 587 (DP118), Satoshi's Mukubird (Staravia) evolved into Mukuhawk (Staraptor) during a PokeRinger competition against Shinji's Donkarasu.

In episode 601 (DP132), Hikozaru (Chimchar) evolved into Moukazaru (Monferno) when Satoshi battled Shinji 6v6.

Nah, it's the cute Pokemon thing . . . they promote the new starters/easy to get Pokemon that appear in the latest videogames.

They don't make Pokemon that are 'too scary' for kids and overprotective parents. Don't forget that Ash has to battle them, which is more scary than having him use them.

Plus, the anime is mainly about Ash winning against the odds cos he loves his little Pokemon. If he just went around smashing face with Tyranitars and Garchomps, it wouldn't seem right.

then He'd Be no different than gary

A more "Adult" version of Pokemon Anime could be based around the Colaseum and XD games for the NGC. I feel those games, using the main protaganist from coliseum, would make a great story, with all the shadow pokes. imagine seeing Shadow lugia being brought to life on the screen for that final battle in XD! Very cool! Just an idea.

I agree ash needs to get a garchomp, or something more powerful than what he currently has. M hubby would love to see more of T-tar on the show, and my son see more of Groudon.

Ash sends out Pikachu

Trainer sends out Rhyperior

Rhyperior smashes Pikachu more and more etc

Pikachu uses tackle.

Pikachu wins the match!

Wierd dude: Great performance

Nurse Joy: Lovely Pokemon!

Classic guy: And don't forget Remarkable!

This...

1. The Anime doesnt follow the rules of the Video Games - Electric Pkmn can hit Ground PKMN and stuff like this "hit the horn" thing actually work. But thats the same in every other anime as well, someone has a big advantage by a special ability and the hero wins by finding this abilitys weak spots.

2. I hardly get how anyone can still take this anime serious as an anime. Its a salesshow, it does whatever is needed to increase the sails, it doesnt follow any logic / story whatever.
Its just a show for little children which repeats itself for each season. If you want to have a good pkmn show, read the mangas.

i agree with most of you about pokemon, some of you probably feel like going into the show yourself, slap ash and tell him to stop living in a fairytale and catch some 'real' pokemon, other than just Charizard.
i havent watched pokemon since it went to cable tv only which was about 3 years ago.
i would be awesome to see ash with a pokemon that could stand its ground other than pika (i think pikachu might have a hidden light ball to increase its own fire power)
my favorite movie however has to be Pokemon 4 Ever, where they show an evil Tyranitar (at max power).
You know ash never went back to get his pidgeot.

Everyone knows that ash is a walking everstone I mean look at may she was with him for like 200 episodes and had basically 1 real stage 2 and when she left for 50 almost everything was fully evolved.

Pokemon is the only ANIME i've seen where the characters don't Grow/Progress....Of all the top Animes... as time goes on the characters get stronger so the opponent get stronger...not ash and crew....
They Still have a hard time dealing with Team Rocket...
I Mean really...Your Pokemon is still getting Hurt By Posion Sting...lol

Like I said earlier...lol

Seriously the Japanese production team has to have some sort of fill in the blanks software to write the scripts. You know, like mad libs, only dumber.

'Today Ash, Brock and (insert current female aspiring to be co-ordinater) are traveling to (insert random town from game). Ash just won his (insert badge) and only has (insert number) to go before competing in the (insert current region) pokemon league!

Ash: Come on guys! Let's hurry up I gotta win my next gym badge! (Editor's Note: Sorry Ash that doesn't happen for 30 more episodes).

(Current Female Aspiring to be a Co-Ordinator): Aaash! Wait up! I wanna go get my hair done!

Brock: Ash is really genki today blah blah.

*They all notice (insert after effect of a crime Team Rocket committed the night before)*

Ash: Hey, Officer Jenny, what's going on?

Jenny: Do I know you?

Blah blah blah Officer Jenny bit yeah she looks like her sister's cousins whatever.

Brock: Oh Officer Jenny I love you! (insert some way in which he tries to swoon her stupidly)

(Insert current way Brock is stopped from flirting with women - max, croagunk, etc...)

(Current Female Aspiring to be a Co-Ordinator): We'll help you out!

Ash and co solve the mystery like scooby doo and the mystery machine. Along the way they meet (insert pokemon of the day) who was suffering because of (insert misfortune - i.e. trainer ditched it, too weak,etc...)

Along they way they meet Nurse Joy somewhere (repeat Officer Jenny sequence), and find out that Team Rocket was at the center of the crime (OH NO THEY DIDN"T SEE THAT COMING!)

Then crappy weak (insert pokemon of the day) beats the even more pathetic team rocket and they fly off.

Team Rocket: Team rocket's blasting off again! Wobbufet! Mr. Mime! (Insert whatever other worthless pokemon team rocket currently has.)

(Officer Jenny or insert 1 episode character they meet): Ash you saved the day! (Note, if episode where he battles a gym leader, he gets a free badge w/o really battling). (If the token 1 episode character is female and between the ages of 14 - 35 Brock flirts with them again / repeat brock scene).

Ash and co leave the town waving into the sunset.

Rinse. Wash. Repeat. 693+ times.... are you freaking out yet?!?!

Side note - If you think it's pathetic that Ash does the same thing everyday w/o getting anywhere for the past 11 years, think about Team Rocket... by all rights they should be like in their 30's! And they're basically just homeless, unemployed bums following a little kid around trying to steal his pet.... that's pretty sad....
