Crobat prime: good, bad, or just plain ugly

What people dont understand is that there is a differenceb etween bad cards and bad cards, there are bad cards that are just bad (SUDUWUDU!!!) and cards like crobat prime who are by no means bad but just dont fit in the format.

In a deck like. . . I dunno. . . Jumpluff? It really isn't difficult to retreat every turn. Luxchomp? Really easy. Gyarados can always SSU instead and heal off all the damage. Most (not all) good decks at the moment can retreat out of poison easily. Even if it's from an SSU, a Poketurn, or even Warp Point retreating/evolving isn't the only way to get out of it.

This was the only comment of yours I wanted to comment on.

There are ways to fix those problems. MT Ariados increases all pokemon's retreat by 1, forcing those Jumpluff to discard 1 of their 6 energies to retreat every turn, or forcing a Garchomp or Luxray to have to attach for their turn in order to retreat that turn.

Against Super Scoop Up, the Vileplume that was in the japanese Unleashed set stops both players from playing "goods" (trainers) and can sit on the bench, which would stop Warp Point, SSU, and Switch. Too bad the card was pulled from the english set.

There are ways to play around any problem if you take advantage of the various cards in the format.

well i would deffently run another pokemon with crobat prime but you could make crobat real deadley with weazing from great encounters to add one more for poison.

agreed, and i think this is what alot of people arent really understanding, that there are bad match-ups for Cro Prime, but he can play around them using different combos, not hard to work with free retreat and a 1 energy cost attack...

@ thepliskin5005 - typically 2 are run with him and skunktank G with miasma valley

Obviously a card's ability is relative to the format it's in. I don't think many would argue that Crobat would be terrible in any format, but I don't see it working at all in this format, which is what matters right now.

haha, I like how everyones using the Unown G thing on it. Most people only run 1-2 Unown Gs... So you can tech in maybe a nidoqueen, I mean really, u have free retreat. Then kill the pokemon with Unown G on it. Dugtrio would be a nice tech to it, because you can let them retreat so theyre at 6 then hit them for 30 with maybe a crobat drop lol. YOU WINN!!! lol

No, but you can then force your opponent to retreat.

This doesn't really accomplish much. In most decks, they will have another attacker (usually the same one) - moreso because you're not going to be able to KO any of their attackers with Crobat's mediocre attacks.

No one has thought of running Crobat with SP Line (Not going to say which ones...)?

If you think about it, Unown G is not really a threat. Who in the world puts 4 of them in a deck? Even 3? There is a way for Gengar to deal with it so can Crobat.

Crobat could work with luxray x to pull up their claydol and poison it and use DP dusknoir to dark palm what ever they have unown g attached to. Just because crobat prime is weak to lightning so is gyarados, put its still competive.

i was thinking the same thing. If everyone is going to pull the Luxray beats it thing, then most decks wouldnt be good.

thing is, gyarados isn't weak x2 (makes luxray have to drop lucario gl) and can do a solid 90 for 0 (which can easily be turned into a OHKO with the right cards). crobat just does 40 for 1, then it just gets poke turned off and ohko'd.
