Nintendo Press Release said:REDMOND, Wash., Nov. 1, 2006 - Nintendo is mobilizing the largest worldwide video game console launch in at least a decade, with approximately 4 million Wii™ systems available globally during the six weeks between Wii's Nov. 19 launch in the Americas and the end of 2006. Although the largest share of that worldwide allotment will go to the Americas, Nintendo expects supply will be outpaced by demand, based on retailer orders, intense consumer requests and placement on numerous "gotta have it" holiday lists.
GameStop and EBGames were supposed to only allow limited pre-orders. Up to the number they'd be getting in. I called a few stores that day and I was told by most of them that they were out of pre-orders already. So, unless there is somehow less Wiis available than promised (coughPS3cough) anyone who pre-ordered one should get one from what I hear.Kyfogre22 said:Erm... This is a bit old, but, I just thought I'd like to point out that the Wii launch is EXACTLY like the PS3 launch, just because you preordered doesn't mean you're going to get one at launch. It's always been like that for every console that's ever been released. This just means that you're whatever position in line to get them when they do come in. The difference here is stores are getting 8 PS3s, while each store is also getting 15 Wiis.
Depends on the rarity of the game. SM64 you could easily find for $7, but Kirby 64, which is on the rarer side of the scale, would never be found at $10.Venusaur said:That wii points system is kinda a ripoff. $20 for 2000 points. 1000 points for an N64 game, so $10 for an N64 game. You could prolly pick up N64 games for a buck off the street.

Nintendo Press Release said:"Introducing ... Wii. As in "we." While the code-name "Revolution" expressed our direction, Wii represents the answer. Wii will break down that wall that separates video game players from everybody else. Wii will put people more in touch with their games ... and each other. But you're probably asking: What does the name mean?"
"Wii sounds like 'we,' which emphasizes this console is for everyone. Wii can easily be remembered by people around the world, no matter what language they speak. No confusion. No need to abbreviate. Just Wii."
"Wii has a distinctive "ii" spelling that symbolizes both the unique controllers and the image of people gathering to play. And Wii, as a name and a console, brings something revolutionary to the world of video games that sets it apart from the crowd."
"So that's Wii. But now Nintendo needs you. Because, it's really not about you or me. It's about Wii. And together, Wii will change everything."

Wal-mart NEVER CLOSES, so yeah, I suppose they would be open mid-night to sell them. >__>Venusaur said:Does anyone know any other places that are gonna do wii (or ps3) pre-orders? Or what are some places that don't do pre-orders, that just sell what they get on launch date and it's first come first serve? I heard that walmart opens on Midnight saturday night to let people get the wii. Is that true? That would mean you dont need to stand in line early in the morning, just sometime in the afternoon.
