Donking, and why it is suddenly a big concern for the community

We should all run 54 Call Energys, youll never get donked again.

I dont know if you really dotn get it but the complains about donks are there because those are losses where you had no chance to do anything because opening hands are RANDOM! and your opening hand didnt have what you needed to avoid the donk. And no amounth of stuffing your deck with donk-avoiding cards will ever change that. Because opening Hands are RANDOM! Random, like in, YOU CANT DO ANYTHING ABOUT IT AND IF YOU HAVE BAD LUCK YOU JUST LOOSE, BECAUSE YOU RANDOM!!!! LY GOT A BAD HAND.

"If you get donked just run more anti-donk cards" is the most ridiculus idiotic argument ever

No, David.

We should all run 54 basics. That will surely prevent the donk. And you still have a chance of not going 0-x in a tournament.

...Right? RIGHT?!

Yeah, nothing can really ensure you never get donked - just some things, like Tomb or Call, help to prevent donking. Nothing can completely stop it - unless you figure out how to consistently counterdonk donk decks.

And THIS is my counterarguement!

I never said anything could 100% stop donks, no matter what. Never. Ever.

And lol I fail at Overeager.

Neither did we porii. The problem I have, and most who agree with me,is the frequency these "donks" are happening at events this season! I am sick of them , they aren't fun, it is a problem and they happen far too often.

They don't show who the better player is. Imho, playing a deck like that shows how weak your skills at playing a real game of Pokemon actually are( all of you except Rob Downs ).

No, you can't stop them-only build to try and prevent them. Even then, sadly, it WILL happen to you-and far too often!

I think I can be an exception to the "no skillz" donk deck players. I have been working on my donkdeck for over a year now.

But yes, I agree with the rest of your post (except I'm not really "sick" of donks, just dislike being donked myself.)

But no one cares about your 'special' donk deck that no one plays. I mean donks are made way too easy with uxiedonk now and the like.

I don't think anyone expected, particularly in the current format for someone to come with a foolproof method of avoiding donks with a tournament-viable deck. Given the variables involved, I think everyone accepts that's impossible. The key is to get it down to an acceptable level. What that is varies from player to player.

You do realize this thread is not about you? Right? Your playing a Tier 2 or Tier 3 donk deck. Your just as crippled by trainer lock as Uxie Donk but you can't ko multible pokemon nearly as easily. The deck everybody is complaining about is the Rob Downs versions which can consistantly beat 3 Pokemon and the upwards of 5 if he knows what he is doing.

We've heard your side of the story, thanks for the posts, please let the rest of the community continue to discuss the issue in peace.

how to you thank someone for making a post?

I agree with Jay. This thread has become more of an argument between porri and like 5 other people.

Everyone, I have figured out how to beat the donk it so simple. Nance formula:

4 Spiritomb
4 Call Energy
4 Gastly SF
4 Regigigas LA (Slow Start poke-body)
4 Chansey from Base set
4 Dialga G
4 Energy Gain
4 Snowpoint Temple
4 Pichu HGSS (you'll have to add a "1" in front of the HP)
24 Special Metal

My brother and I have been working on this for the past few weeks now and, well, we think it does the trick. When your deck check fails, you can run up to someone running a donk deck, laugh in their face, and then go order some pizza or feed the homeless. THAT'LL SHOW THEM!!

The donk deck was unleashed in St. Louis by a player running a slightly different list (more energy, more attacking) than the list that is considered optimal, and was running it for the first time. Seemed to be a net list, which was still devastating.

That being said, even against things like Dialga, he entered the finals on an 8-0 run, and were it not for a Seeker/Mesprit Gyarados player who froze him in his tracks at crucial times, the list would have been perfect on the day.

I don't like the deck, I don't like the strategy, but it is currently a high risk high reward play.

I got the feeling in watching the spectators towards the end, everyone was just seeing WHAT could take this beast down.

After only one event, and seeing the carnage, I really don't like the deck.

You succeeded in building a list that reaches top 3. In seniors. In a battle road.
-slow claps-

Oh and by the way, about you playing 4 Spiritombs? You do know that Uxie might still win by virtue of Cyclone Energy right?
Spiritomb is a soft counter due to Cyclone Energy
Call Energy is a check (Which wont even always safe you)
Mespirit is a hard counter
Dialga G Deafen is a hard counter (Which you cant use if you start)
Gastly Pitch-Dark is a hard counter

And even then you have the CHANCE of drawing a Mespirit (and not being forced to start with). You have the CHANCE of having T1 Dialga/EGain/Deafen IF your opponent whiffed the donk. You have the CHANCE of starting with Gastly.
Uxie has the CHANCE of horribly utterly gutting your entire field before you got a move off.

Scipio: And Vileplume is the MOAHC (mother of all hard counters)

Well, you know what they say. If you can't beat 'em, join 'em.
And lucky for us, there's an awesome Beedrill g article on the front page that we can netdeck! :D

The only time when you should run a (Uxie) donk deck is when:
You have a bad hair day combined with PMS.

At those days you don't want to interact with your opponent and will do anything for a win.

There is no problem with donking. Skilled players usually come out on top anyway. I like the donk. I get donked. I donk. U MAD?

The deck did as well as it did because of an obscene amount of misplays that its player was fortunate enough to encounter. Don't believe the hype.

I kinda like donks, I went against a guy once, and lost, next week, donked him, I wont forget how good it felt to donk, so who cares? If its a WC NC match, well then, just be proud you got there! But I guess it doesnt feel great to be donked but it has to happen at some time or another right? You've probably donked someone before and if you dont like doing it, then dont, or play a second match for fun.
