Jeremy: We've done more than one article ~_~
Look at Healix too...

Where are your articles? If you give me some scrub site, it won't even matter, it's the number of people who read the articles that matters.

Seriously, get off people's backs. You haven't won anything, contributed anything, or said anything intelligent, and you expect to get respect from people? No thanks.

1. I never said that anybody other than one person's logic stated that posting one article automatically excluded a person from needing to help again.
2. Linking is against the rules, so you'll just have to forgive me for not following your uber leet orders.
3. I never said I wanted respect from people(in fact, I said that I didn't expect praise for what I did or said).

So. . .
Isn't trolling against the rules or something?
It doesn't look like you tried to do anything or even establish a point to argue.

To answer your other statement, the number of people who read it only matters if you're fueling an ego trip.
If you are trying to help, then all that matters is how many people it helps.
Then again, I'm not leet enough to make a complete fool of myself by siding against non-existant points, so what do I know?

Matt Moss: I would give you props for winning the STS, but then I look back and remember that Jeremy Borchardt won an STS too, so you are awarded no points, and may god have mercy on your soul.

Let's see, you said moss has done nothing constructive, then I proved you wrong by pointing you to the FRONT PAGE. Then you said who am I to chastize you when I haven't done anything constructive, then I pointed out my OWN article.

And linking is not against the rules. Maybe you should try reading the rules, it says linking to a personal page would be against the rules. A personal page like a myspace, a blog, or something PERSONAL, but a forum, a site, or some kind of information page would be perfectly legit to post... you probably just don't have anything to post.

This thread is pretty stupid... people are better than you, so they acknowledge that and joke about it, and you can't accept that. They contribute, I contribute, it's you who seem the most elitist, by acting as if you're morally or intellectually superior, even though you've yet to show any contributions to the community that would show that you weren't elitist.

If it seems like the players want special treatment because of their superiority, at least we can acknowledge they ARE superior players and they CONTRIBUTE to the game. You've made no contributions(if you have, you won't show them), done nothing spectacular, and are acting superior to those who JOKE about being elitist. This thread is a joke if you guys haven't noticed... it's a playground for the better players to walk around and strut their superiority and laugh at people like you who try to call them elitist. Guess what, they are better than you/us, so maybe they do deserve a bit of special treatment? If you asked any one of them for help, I can almost guarantee you they'd help. If you tried to talk to any one of them, I bet they'd talk to you quite reasonably...

This thread's purpose is to inflate egos. You're inflating your ego by saying you don't have to stoop to inflating your ego... the 'leetists zomgeee!!!' are inflating their egos by joking and posting records, everyone's making themselves look better, no one here is innocent, we're all in the same boat so people need to GET OVER IT.

This is the second-greatest topic ever (the greatest probably being GOROY's "What Makes You a Good Trainer?" thread). I'll be so sad if it's locked. =(

Badeaux: I openly admited I wasn't teasing when I posted that. If there weren't Pokemon players who had incredibly large egos, WHO would you and the rest of the pokegym members LOVE to hate?? Who would Pokepop, SDPokemom etc. etc. be banning?? Whether you see it or not these ego trips give this game some life other than the usual, OH MY GOD THERE IS A NEW DELTA PIKACHU!!!

Also, Old Spice and Axe are considered deodorants, not cologne. I also know for a fact you will agree that you have ran into some smelly players of this game, and if you don't you're in denial!

BigChuck01: I'm sorry you feel that way, although true accomplishment in this game doesnt come until you're able to do all the things you mentioned, and Walk away with a City Championship Medal, something I have suceeded in doing.. Your game isn't complete until you have developed all aspects sorry Chuck=(

OMG, HE WENT THERE???? WTF??

That was a low blow Alex, a real low blow...

Thats like saying I will respect the fact you won the World Championships but then I look back and remember that somebody won worlds too, so you are awarded no points, and may god have mercy on your soul.

You have summarized this entire thread in just one paragraph. Good job.

Jeremy Badeaux - I bet I have met you. Were you the judge at Salem?

what are you talking about??

Aren't you worried about the war on drugs cutting off your supply?
Seriously though, you definitely seem like you're on something.

Just to point out the obvious, you just stated that the way to show I'm not elitest would be by doing what you have been screaming is something that makes a perosn elite.
What?!?!
So(according to what has been said), contributing to this site would make me elite, by proving that I am not elite because I posted an article?

This thread is pretty stupid... people are better than you, so they acknowledge that and joke about it, and you can't accept that.
So, you attack me for stating something that you don't think is proven, but you also state personal opinion as fact?
Bravo Sigmund Fraud, bravo, you have blown our minds with your intellect of Pwnz0r4g3.

And linking is not against the rules. Maybe you should try reading the rules, it says linking to a personal page would be against the rules.
Because obviously message boards want non-affiliated sites linked to on their site.
It was a no-no the last time I looked, so I didn't really bother checking on something that should have been a given.

They contribute, I contribute, it's you who seem the most elitist, by acting as if you're morally or intellectually superior
After all is said and done, what have I claimed to be better than you at?
Basic English?
Wow, good luck refuting that one to anybody else who has read this topic.

Your claims of elitism are based on the obviously flawed logic that you are somehow unbeatable when you play againat players who are not elite.
As far as being intellectually superior, I do have test scores to show that I'm superior to the majority of people, but I didn't state it myself, I let you draw your own conclusion on the matter.

If it seems like the players want special treatment because of their superiority, at least we can acknowledge they ARE superior players and they CONTRIBUTE to the game.
It would also be nice if those same players would acknowledge that the other players(no matter how n00bish some of them may be considered) are still players and deserve respect as such.

Guess what, they are better than you/us, so maybe they do deserve a bit of special treatment?
Their special treatment comes in the form of the prizes they win at events.

you probably just don't have anything to post
Lots of posts have been made with nothing of value in them...
Once again, helping people is one thing, but bragging about doing something is elitist.

I spend most of my time at league every week, doing nothing but helping people with decks(I'm lucky to get in a single game on most league days).
That's right, three hours gone and I normally pass up most of my few chances to play, just to help people(some of whom I've never met before and likely won't meet again) with their decks.
Let's just assume that your awesome statements automatically void out anything that anybody else has done for the game though since that seems to be your primary goal in the matter.
So fine, I conceed that a few articles that other people wrote automatically means that Ho Megas Alexandros magically used your bodies to post those articles and my earlier comment about him only contributing once is null.
Happy?

Okay, now that your obvious leetness of being able to transfer accomplishments has been established, let's move on.

This thread's purpose is to inflate egos.
. . .
If that was the only purpose of this thread, I doubt it would still be here(the leetism topic has been an off and on thing for years and somebody as leet as you should be well aware of that).

If you tried to talk to any one of them, I bet they'd talk to you quite reasonably...
Doesn't that just confirm earlier statements about people only saying something when they can hide behind a computer screen?

and are acting superior to those who JOKE about being elitist.
Wow, there must be some really worthless comedians on Pokegym for some of those posts to be considered jokes.
If only there was some way of wrapping up a statement online that could let people know that it wasn't said in a serious manner... kind of like "j/k" or "lol" or maybe even "XD".

The truth is, a number of egomaniacal statements were made and now that people come under fire for them, you claim that they were jokes.
I mean nothing personal by this, but please just man up and don't make excuses for what was said.

However, judging by your stance on this subject, let's just say that everything I said earlier was a joke and not meant to be taken seriously(even though that is obviously not the case).
Wow, don't you feel foolish for debating against jokes now?

XD
Okay, I'm sorry about that last one, but you have been asking for that for a while now. lol

Second verse, same as the first.
I'm not saying that I am without blame in any way shape or form, but you are stating that you have done nothing questionable.
Now, which one sounds like somebody is having trouble getting over it?

Wait a moment...

To be honest, I would think it slightly odd if anybody here hasn't contributed to leetism in some form at some point in time.
Well, it looks like we have come to agree on something(despite your best efforts).

As odd as it sounds, you have gained a little respect from me for that post.
You owned up to what you said and made a valid point without going on a rampage of screaming to do it.

By your own point it's obvious that you understand why there have to be people against those leetists.

I didn't judge Cities this year, but I did judge at the Gym Challenges and the Regional(11-14 division of the judging staff at Regionals).

If you know Marvin and Stephano, you've probably met me once or twice(I'm the guy who tends to wear Munchkin shirts at events and my brother always wears a ballcap).
If it helps any, I was the guy who didn't play in the Delta Species prerelease in Salem(let's just say that I have standards on what I'll pay money for).
Oh yeah, I'm also the guy with the large six-sided dice(and a bunch of other dice).

To answer a slightly odd statement from earlier, yes, I have definitely run into a few gamers who are in desperate need of showers(yes, multiple showers).
Try demoing games for a company at a convention and running into somebody who hasn't showered since he got there... on day three of the convention. :nonono:

Deodorant /anti perspirant = good, but there are better ones than Axe and Old Spice(most people just buy into the insane commercials though).

I'm not sure why people are saying Jeremy Badeaux claims himself to be elitist, or superior or better than anyone in any way. All he's doing is criticizing people for being arrogant. Is it supposed to be logical to conslude that if someone dare say ANYTHING even remotely negative about "elite" players, it means that they themsleves think they're elite?

Isn't that exactly the problem?

Jeremy: First off not everyone can post something that will truely help the community. There are many who come here to learn. Secondly, if every person who really had something to offer posted up just ONE thing to the front page, in my opinion, that would be enough! How many articles would that be? An incredible amount, and it would be a great strategy compendium for a new player to browse through.

I post things on the gym because it gets the most eyeballs and also has the most newer players who need the help. If others followed the selfless lead in helping others that the MS members such as Martin, Pooka, rokman, Chuck, and myself have taken, the entire Pokemon community would be a better place. You're so quick to judge others for their contributions, then you defend yourself by saying "if you do something, you're exempt from doing anything else." That completely dodges the point that doing SOMETHING to help is better than doing what you do, NOTHING. I'm not here to judge whether someone's contributions to the community at large are too little, just right, or too much, but simply whether you've at least tried. You haven't. I don't care what you do to help some anonmyous little message board that you've failed to even mention (prolly doesn't exist). This is the Pokegym, so the discussion is relevant to this message board.

Lastly, I think I can best present my point by reminding everyone of a few points:

  • I won the WCSTS
  • Chuck beat a couple people in an unsanctioned tournament at 1 am against sleepy moms
  • I'm the best natural player in the game
  • I beat Garry Kasparov 5-0 in Chess before he conceded and then quit the game (this was earlier this year)
  • Vince's kid won a CC with my decklist (obv he would have won regardless, but its still cool)
  • Team Allah is going to sweep every Regs and GC, Nats and Worlds without dropping a prize, believe
  • I was offered a seat on the Jamacian 4-man bobsled team for their Turino crew, but I turned them down
  • I won the WCSTS
  • Seena and I put up the best record possible: T4 and T8 day one, WIN and WIN day 2 at the WCSTS. It has never, and will never be topped
  • I called Barry Greenstein's all in with T-high because I knew he had a busted lower strait draw
  • I'm the best Pokemon TCG player that has ever live
  • Jon Finkle and Kai Budde asked me to join there Team Rochester team, but I turned them down
  • I min checkraised Phil Ivey on the riv on a bluff and he laid the second nuts
  • My girlfriend was offered a photo spot on FHM, but she turned them down
  • I won the WCSTS

If that wasn't enough, let me ALSO remind you all that I won the WCSTS.

Argh, so many humorous things, but I still want to reply in a debating fashion. >_<

You're so quick to judge others for their contributions, then you defend yourself by saying "if you do something, you're exempt from doing anything else."
. . .
I'm taking a wild guess and figuring that you know that the quote is being taken badly out of context(on the basis that I was pointing out somebody else's train of thought)? lol

Normally, I would leave something like this alone, but my theory on gaming requires that I respond. lol
An incredible amount, and it would be a great strategy compendium for a new player to browse through.
To be honest, such a thing would be a mighty task indeed, but it would also have it's major flaws(considering how often the most basic strategies are changed around by new rulings and/or new cards, it would be difficult at best to keep it properly maintained).

I figure this was in a jesting manner, but I should still respond to it with a real answer.
I don't care what you do to help some anonmyous little message board that you've failed to even mention (prolly doesn't exist). This is the Pokegym, so the discussion is relevant to this message board.
I know you would be highly unlikely to do anything harmful to those forums, but there are other people here that I think would love the chance to do something less than ethical(being on the staff at that forum, I would rather avoid it).
You however, are somebody who I would not mind sharing the site with(if you honestly do have an interest in seeing the site, just pm me for the url).

Yes, but have you ever won a STS?

Thanks to everybody who has tried to keep this topic civil(yes, I'm aware that I might not be on that list). lol
