Final Fantasy

Just my opnion but Final Fantsay is the best RPG currently made secounded by Tales of Series and followed up by Fire Emeblem.

Can't really call tales a series, I'm pretty sure Symphonia's the only one that hit america, so most people don't know it's actually a series.

Well there was also the Tales of ???? I forgot whta it was called but for the SNES I belive it was on.

Nobody cares about SNES games! =P
Besides, 2 games doesnt make a series, really...and, unlike fire emblem, most people dont know about the versions that didn't come to america. Everyone knows that there had to be japanese versions of fire emblem before those that came to america, considering america started with FE #7. The tales series, however, didnt make the fact that it was a series well known in america.

IMO FFTA is much better then FFT. For one, I could never figure out the controls of FFT...but yeah...FFTA is in the technology-less setting for the most part, the one exception being the Gunner Class...but there's still archers, too =P

Okay, FFTA has FFT on controls, but FFT still blows FFTA out of the ****ing water in terms of plot, character development, class system, and even music/sound.

Tales of Phantasia, and it was never translated. It was a great game, but the line on the boat says it all for the maturity of it: "Mint has that quiet elegance, but I'll bet Arche ****s like a tiger." Thing is though, they're even making an animé based on Tales of Phantasia. I've seen the first few episodes, and it's great.

Considering that the SNES had the best quality games of any system period since it existed before console fanboyishness took a real hold of the gaming industry, that's quite a bold statement to make.

Actually, I found the plot of FFTA pretty cool. Also, I'm pretty sure FFT didn't have different races, and that's a definite bonus to FFTA. But I have to say, the whole Totema concept was pretty lame.

And SNES might have been all the rage when it came out, but not any more. We're way more advanced then...what was it? 8 Bit? 16 Bit? ;x

Well, if you replace the totema with the zodiac beasts that are the actually-evil legendary warriors of history, known as the Lucavi or Zodiac Braves, then yes, they have different races. On the other hand, Assassin was so much more powerful in FFT than in FFTA that it wasn't even a player class. Basically, Rockseal at range 6, never-missing, a range-4 charm skill, the Ultima spell, unblockable instant death, and of course a ranged stop skill. No idea why I'm pointing this out, just funny to see some people's reactions to take the second-best class in FFTA and tell them that the original version made the new one look weak. Then again, nothing beats Holy Swordsman in terms of brokenness, but I'm rambling.

Anyway, FFT is just so much better than FFTA that it's like comparing any decent food to a week old stale pringle. Go play it before judging it. If you don't play it and still insist FFTA is better, well, you're being an idiot, and for that "don't blame me, blame yourself or God."

And just because the SNES was 16-bit doesn't hamper the quality of its games. The level of graphics be damned, good games are ones with plot and character and all that fun stuff. If a game looks pretty but sucks otherwise, it's a terrible game.

Marril's got a point. Pretty graphics and sucky gameplay<Sucky graphics and awsome game play everyday of the week. Heck my fave all time game is a friggin Arcade/Atari game (for those who didnt read fave 5 game topic, Galaga). I've seen plenty of games beat it graphically, but I dont go back and play them all the time like I do it.

I really like FFX myself, but I vauguelly remember the older FF's... really only 1 on the NES since I never had a SNES (parents got me a Genesis instead and my friend with an SNES didnt like RPGs at the time). But I remember loving the original. I liked FFX for its unique leveling system, the Sphere Grid... storywise it wasnt up to par, but I went nutzo over that Sphere Grid (hated Blitzball with a pasion, nice idea, horribly done)

Idk but final Fantasy is rly awesome and it seems like pokemon got there ideas from Final Fantasy. Cuz Final Fantasy was released around the 1980's. 10 yrs B4 pokemon was. Seems like they got there storyline from Final Fantasy.

Loved BlitzBall but it wasnt fun to play only to watch!

I honestly don't like branding people with this, but... are you an idiot? This is a serious question, seeing that Pokémon and Final Fantasy share little in common with their general themes, the basics of RPGs aside.

*walks off muttering about kids these days never having played games back when they were good*

You've obviously not been paying attention. I second everything marrill said to you. There are NO similarities between Pokemon and Final Fantasy. Heck, I don't think I could even consider them the same genre, as Pokemon isn't your standard RPG.

Pokemon= Items
Items FF= Items
Pokemon= RPG
FF= RPG

etc.
Ahou ka? (Are you stupid?) :/

Seriously, are you even capable of a shred of intelligent thought? Honestly.

You stated that Pokemon got their storyline from FF...what do you even base that on? There are no plot similarities. AT ALL. The only thing they have in common is that, at the very basic core of them both is an RPG. OMG THEY BOTH HAVE POTIONS!!!! THEY'RE TWINSIES!!!

Back on topic...

The only FF game I played through was FFTA. :/ I've tried FFVII (borrowed it, didn't have a PS memory card, didn't get very far) and FFX (borrowed it, froze up at a certain cutscene)...so yeah....my luck with them isn't great. >_>; I also played FFXI for a bit, but I grew tired of that real quick.

...You're kidding me, right?
Oh wow. They both have items.
Please give me the name of an RPG that DOESNT have items.

the snes gets more play time in my house then any other system (including gamecube and ps2), and most of that comes from my younger siblings. it truly is the king of consoles. i mean, it had final fantasy 4, 5, and 6, chrono trigger, earthbound, xenogears, mario kart, super mario world and super mario all-stars. that's not even all of the great games it had.

anyway, final fantasy should have ended with 8 or 9 and the creators should have begun a new series. it seems that hiding behind the title is their strategy for sales.

Xenogears was PSX.

Anyways, the SNES rocked, but I'm all for making improvements on the such.

IMPORTANT!
Most of us own GBAs or DSs, FF IV is out for it! get it!
also, FFV and FFVI are slated for rerelease, get them too!

If it's a revamped remake like FF1&2:DoS was, I'll definitely be getting it...DoS was awesome.

woops. good call. i'll make up for it by citing zelda: link to the past, secret of mana, the first 3 megaman x games, and super metroid. those were all great titles. nintendo wouldn't be remaking all these old games if they sucked.

hmmm...Am I the only person who has enjoyed played FF Crystal Chronicales (I know I spelt it wrong). This was a great multiplayer experience if you have friends with GBAs and they want to help you kick some butt. My friend and I have had some memorable video gaming memories playing CC, but haven't finished the game yet because of conflicting work schedules. The only other games I have played are FFTA, which in my opinion is one of the best games Nintendo has ever had on a Game Boy system. Also, I have FF I & II: Dawn of Souls, but haven't finished it because my Pokemon keep calling to me in my sleep. I never was a fan of Final Fantasy until I actually forced myself to buy a few of the games and I have been hooked ever since. I still need to get IV Advance to keep my fix going after I find a way to beat my other games.

Hopefully Square Enix and Nintendo still have plans for CC to make a DS debut, that would be awesome.

peace
