When a state is absolutely and utterly swept by out-of-state players, I believe there to be no native competition. How is this a poor assessment of Georgia, who hasn't seen a Georgia resident win, much less final a masters state event in so many years? Why do Georgia residents have the smallest number of players in the top cut?
I don't think I'm being ignorant. Until I see a Georgia player win ANY state, let alone their OWN state, I won't believe there to be any real competition. I really think Florida is going to take, and I mean TAKE, completely, the finals for at least the 26th-1st. You might find one or two non-Florida residents in there, but we're coming up in decent numbers this year, with some of our best.
Maybe next time your fellow Georgia player shouldn't assert that we're only playing in your state because we're afraid of our own, and you wouldn't get called out on lacking any real competition.
i am a firm believer that all players should play in there own state until states, we are not a refuge for florida players to run to because they are scared of playing in their own state
georgia is the future of pokemon and when florida comes up this year, they will realize how tough the competition is and has always been...
to quote Thomas Jefferson, "The GAME just got REALLY difficult for florida players!"
Wow, when I first saw this all I could think was I hope John does not see this!! Then I thought.....I can't wait for him to see this...LOL. Hey, some good smack talk makes some good times......Lets all just keep it in perspective guys.
We like to travel up to Ga because we love the game and can't get enough down here. We have no tournaments during the break between Christmas and New Years so it is a natural to head that way. What Gary came up with is genius and he is always such a good host. Funny how people are compaining about driving a few more hours to Nats but people will be coming from all over to play in these events. If I was from Ga I think Fl would be the least of my worries( but still a big one...LOL) but as word spreads of this event I think top players from all over will be heading down to not only take what points they can from you but from all the top ranked Fl players there. Too many points to be had in such a short period of time.
In the past we were only risking our points when we came up there with not too much to gain as we usually beat up on each other.....this year Paarth has a well deserved target it seems. Can't wait to get up there for a part of the Marathon. I would think that us coming up the past few years has helped to raise the level of play.......we will see.
And by the way......I like Victor. Spent some good time with him in Hawaii and I think he has quite a future ahead of him. If I was a GA player I would be looking for his help instead of cutting him down.
Guys, no offense, but this is very poor spirit of the game. I don't care where you come from, because last I checked we were all supposed to be unified by having common interests (ie: this game, and Pokemon in general). Can we please be mature about this, not bringing regionalist/state egos into it?
I wish I was playing in Georgia so I could get to meet some of you guys. Though, with the sheer egos you've brought up into this thread, I don't think i'd like to meet you guys in a competitive environment at all; I certainly hope you are better people outside of the arena. The south is supposed to be about being gentlemanly and having southern pride. Instead all I see is a bunch of smack talking and speaking down upon others. We really don't need those kind of egos being brought into the game, it certainly wouldn't make a good impression upon younger players.
I doubt wonderful gentlemen like the PTO/TO/Professors that are holding these events really are seeking such divisionism. They hold these events to bring people together, so that we can have fun, and they wish for the beset players to win irregardless of where you originate.
Once you forget about what the game is really about, only focusing on winning. Once you start isolating yourself from your fellow players based on being in "teams" and states then you've kind of lost your way in my opinion.
You need to look at post #8. Granddaddy/Gary calls out the TN and FL players. He is the one that brought up the fact 1st that GA was shut out last year and that GA was gearing up to do better this time around. I like Gary, but he stirred that pot 1st.
As for the "egos", it is friendly banter online. You cannot blame the FL players for throwing the FACT that FL HAS swept the GA States for a couple of years now. The facts are what the facts are. Until a GA player steps up in MAs and WINS at least a CC, if not a State when FL players are present, then GA players have no reason to complain IMO. Dont get mad at the facts.
Likewise, I know all these folks from FL. They really are good folks. They are just doing some smack talk.
Keith
GA has won a cities when FL was present,it was 06 in Douglasville GA,Nick Frag won it and several FL players were present. I wasnt even playing pokemon then.
GA has players that can contend, and its not like we dont contend. ask TN,how some of them come here for Battle Roads and cant even top against us in a BR!!!
Jim,we cut him down becuz he cuts hiself down, hes a decent player, but we beat him constantly and he puts it on himself. I love when John and Steve make him look oh so dumb just from his smack talking.
Honestly Im not worried about what happened a few years ago,if anything, Me and Paarth will be the answer and show you that GA has competition.

GA is still trying to get better players like competing FL and TN. We don't have a lot of players and for the last 2 years we have lost the dollars and the ableys don't get to play a lot and also a few others. Pokemon is fun but not when all this drama and BS comes up. The people from FL are really good and that we can't deny and I have the up most respect for them. GA masters players haven't had all the experience that FL has gotten, they've been playing longer and have a way bigger playbase then anywhere in GA. You out of state players can smack talk all you want it doesn't really effect any of us in GA because our lives don't revolve around pokemon. I play so I can maybe have a shot at getting some scholarship money and I love hanging with my friends from athens and meeting new people. If I win then thats cool, if I lose then its whatever. Just because we don't win any of our tourney's doesn't mean we suck. So good luck to all who are attending the GA cities.
Gary, I'm sorry to say but your plan to advertise your tournaments is not a great one. Its only going to cause a lot of drama when the FL players come up. This isn't a thread to advertise your city championships, its nothing more the a garbage talking thread and when your cities come around someone's feelings are going to get hurt.
Victor, we don't hate you. Sometimes you just make yourself look dumb and its kind of annoying and it gives a bad name to GA players. So sometimes we take it upoon ourselves to make fun of you so then you stop. you're a good player, but just don't run your mouth so much.
Peter G., stop wasting your time on this dumb thread. Please it's really not worth it. We're better then this and we'll just have to show everyone that we have gotten better when they come to GA.
I can't even understand what you're saying, let alone who you're trying to insult.
English please?
