Electric cars are nice. I worked at an electric power producing utility company for nearly a decade. Several of the company engineers built their own electric cars and the company provided free parking with “recharge” outlets in the parking deck for them. Still those 10 “recharge” spaces were NEVER more than 1/4 full. At this point, unless you can build and maintain your electric car yourself it’s simply not practical ... and even a company full of talented folks only had a small handful that actually had the know-how and gumption to actually do it.
It’s not about oil companies buying up the tech, it’s the support infrastructure, or lack thereof. There aren’t mechanics shops for electric cars scattered throughout cities and across the countryside. There are hardly any houses really wired properly to charge these bad boys. There isn’t much in the way of fallbacks for trips beyond battery range ... i.e. no gas stations for a quick recharge or battery change-out. Conspiracy theories are fun, but it’s not always a matter of shady dealings that stand in the way of new tech. In this case it’s money. It will take a massive effort in terms of money, time, and education (mechanics) to really be able to support a country of electric cars.
The other hidden factor is that plenty of electric utilities have GAS power plants that essentially burn fuel to produce electricity. To this point it’s been a cheap way to do things. Even if we magically changed all the cars we would still have to change the back end power producing infrastructure to be less gas reliant as well.
And the Dems control congress. They wont' do anything because they want a democrat elected in November. My point is already proven with your post.
It Is Never Enough. Ever. Go and ask Bill Gates if he's satisfied with his billions. Guaranteed, he's not.How rich do you have to be before you're happy in this world?
If you're not angry, you aren't paying attention.
Flaming Spinich has over 5,800 posts in just 3 years.
That's more then 5 posts per DAY.
That's not total spam or unneeded threads, it's pure POSTS.
And he's still chugging on.

We Should All Boycott Gas For Just 1 Day
Way too impracticle.Maybe if we switch to nuclear fuel...
I dunno, I'm pretty happy with the 1 billion donation he put into my university. We had to name a couple of buildings after his parents to do it, but meh. We get better facilities, and the UW becomes the training ground for all of microsoft's engineers, fun =D.
There isn't a car that runs on water, bullet. In fact, you'd be more likely to find a car that runs on bullets than water. Any physics or chemistry student could tell you that.
BTW guys, how are you planning to power these electric cars? Because if your power supply comes from an oil power plant you're perpetuating the same problem.
Cooking oil or any type of biofuel won't work. You think food prices are high NOW? Wait until they take more of that land and use it for fuel, you either gonna eat or you're gonna drive your SUV. Pick one.
I almost want to say switch to nuclear power, but that'd open a ton of problems safety and storage wise.
Maybe todays Physics students dont know, but I bet you people inside Area 51 and MJ12 could tell you something different, much how UFO's has defied all physics. Theirs things our government knows that could eliminate so many problems now, but you dont see it.
Give him some credit. He's retiring from Microsoft to run his charity. It Is Never Enough. Ever. Go and ask Bill Gates if he's satisfied with his billions. Guaranteed, he's not.
