yeh Mew* is a BASIC though as Ardoptres says you can get the Mew back so easily and take out the next Ape and you cant keep getting Apes up every turn in the same vain. R-Gon owns Ape, Metanite owns Ape, Destiny owns Ape, Absolutions owns Ape, Ape can beat on Raieggs but thats about it. Pretty much all the good new DP2 decks beat Ape as well, Typhlo, Gatr, Ttar..
Yes, R-gon owns Ape...if Ape lets Casty dd for three turns. Let's also not forget that R-gon will lose the Holon Engine in HP-on, thus making it rely even more on startermons -- which Ape OHKOs ASAP. This doesn't even factor the possibility of Catapex running Holon Legacy
You're totally right: Metanite has every possible facet of Ape targeted and pre-dismantled. I mean, the fact that Ape OHKO's Metagross d and the Lati@s stars, and that Delcatty ex OHKO's Dragonite and Lugia ex, and that Ape X OHKO's everything in the freaking deck, and that Casty will rarely be alive for more than two turns, and that Catty ex can force the Meta player to get rid of most of what Casty drew for him anyway, and that Catapex can tech almost as or just as easily as Metanite, and that Ape/Catty can literally COME FROM NOWHERE (via candy and DRE/Boost) for a cheap OHKO, and that Catapex does not really have a truly horrible starter yet, and that Metagross DX can only do 40 to anything in Catapex. So, yeah, excluding all that, Metanite totally owns Ape.
Destiny does indeed perform well against Ape so long as they can swarm with Ray ex d and Eggy. Ape kills everything else in the deck, including eggy, in one shot (especially in HP-on, when Ape decks will likely run a Castaway engine with Charms to complement the DREs), while Apex and Catty ex can time OHKO's on Ray ex d. Plus, Destiny loses Cursed Stone in HP-on.
If Absolutions is really that big of a problem in a Catapex's metagame, there's nothing standing in the way of a Sceptile ex d tech. Catty ex's Power is not pre-requisite in this matchup when you can just completely shut down the opposing deck, instead.
Right now, Gatr can probably deal with Catapex rather easily. I'd think of something negative to say, but I don't feel like it now: just got back from work. (Plus, I haven't really thought about it all that much)
T-tar DP2...perhaps. If T-tar can draw into what he needs fast, he can exchange 2HKO's with Ape. he'll still need a good support Pokemon to stand up to Catapex's speed, though.
Typhlosion....please say you're joking. 60 for three CANNOT compare to 80-90 for 2. Not to mention how amazingly slow Typhlo is. In fact, Blaze > Typhlo, IMO.
Edit: man, I hope you posted that as a joke.
