My two cents. Fulop is a no-brainer - nobody has been any better that's for sure. Chuck is uber consistent and can win with just about any deck including absol/magmorter (luck sack) , plus I can never seem to beat him lol. He just doesn't play that much anymore.... Drew is very good. I would put him down a notch in the best ever category, but agree with him as a top current player. Pooka is like Clapton on guitar - safe but flawless (I'm 2-0 lifetime against you Kyle ..) - as far as current players go he is way up there. I can't really say anything about Sammy. Silvestro has been great for a long time.... The midwest and Florida(historically the best) are the areas that Jason is familiar with so it is a bit skewed.. Currently, the East Coast seems quite a bit underated IMHO..... Ness isn't too bad himself either lol....I learned alot from him, and during 05-08 I considered him the best overall player without question......his concentration was rediculous....

The fact of the matter is that, without a doubt, Masters as the highest quantity of great players (and arguably the highest quality of players as well) between the 3 age groups. By a large margin, at that. No Juniors or Seniors can make the list of greats because they simply have not proven themselves vs the other great players.

It's kind of like saying there's a great baseball player that only plays in the Japanese league, but he doesn't play in the MLB. When he comes over to the MLB then we can judge him and see how great he actually is.

The list is just one persons opinion, granted it is Jason but of course he is going to favor his friends and teammates becuase like he said they are the ones who he has the most experience playing with and knows them better. I'm sure had Gino wrote this list, he would of had Con and Alex on it two players accoplishments and skill rival if not surpass at least several people on Jasons list. I think it is very hard for anyone to non biasisly write an article like this. I think everyone should take it as it is, an opinon piece.

Yeah, Alex and Con are really great players. Part of the reasonis they don't take pokemon too seriously. They aren't the kind of people who think "got to win or else," they are more like "wouldn't it be cool if I win." I think this is part of the reason why Con won this year; he was more relaxed, and so made fewer misplays.

I can think of no juniors/seniors that belong in this category

i havent been on the pokemon world for very long but if there were a senior that deserves to b in that it would be Aylam R. 1st at nats last year, top 4 at nats this year, consistently at the top of the rating charts globally!?!?!?!?!?!?!? I dont know him, but from what ive heard, he seems like he could easily move up now and still win. Did i mention he's like 12!?!?!??! Amazing.

I'm not understanding all the hate in this thread. Jason put some of his good friends on the list yet, other players want their friends on the list.

Playing the game for so long in the midwest I've had the pleasure of meeting and playing these players. Drew Holton is the only player I would question greatest ever, but for the last two seasons we've gotten the chance to play at states and regionals and he has all the right tools to be great every round.

I'm not sure how any one can question Fulop, Silvestro, or Sami. His only knock might be that he plays in. A 'less competitive area'. You can't knock winning Nationals seemingly every year. If Chuck played more often then their wouldn't be any doubt either. We've all seen him come back from impossible situations ie:beat moss, who was playing medicham ex, while chuck was playing rocklock. Easily the most lopsided matchup in the history of Pokemon.

Seniors not caring about Masters players are really unappreciative. If it wasn't for the masters that stuck it out in the wotc days, we wouldn't have this game today. Also, seniors used to have to play up all the time and play against Masters. So really you guys don't know how lucky you are.

I feel it was a good read for all players new and old even if you don't agree with the players on the list.

I definately agree that this is just an opnion article. jay hit the nail on the head. all those players are jasons freinds and if you want a legit list you can easily make it yourself. its not too hard at all. the players on that list are great players indeed, and no one can take away there accomplishments, but there are so many others that should sit right along side of them. i look at it this way if those are the only best players today, then why do other players win tournaments too? thats why its just jasons opinion, some will dissagree and some will agree, thats just how its going to be. imo there are way too many good players in this game to just name off a few. you know a good player when you see one, for instance when your in a match and your thinking this guy/girl can still comback even when it seems impossible for them to. its you knowing that the person can play that makes you extra careful during a match, and when your so careful you know that you must be playing someone good. heres one last thought.. dont you think playing against someone who is really good but isnt well known as a top player more dangerous than playing a top player? lol i do.

Does anybody really believe than there is anyone on that list who does not belong on that list?

You can say "<this person> should be on the list" but everybody on that list deserves to be there.

IMO Sami is the best player on earth. winning that much nationals and his good result at worlds every time... no one can top that.

I think the OP's point is more along the lines of "player(s) X should also be on that list".
I don't see him cutting down the players that are on it.

I Think that jasons list is mostly correct. If it went up to 20, finding the players that deserve to be there would be easy but anyalysing them would be hard for jason like he said. But in order to be cosidrered for it a player has to consistant and win more than large tournaments than the players here. This would be the only way to rate them in my opinion because no matter how good someone thinks they are, they can only do so much with the cards they have. it must be done on records.

Some people may have gone into this with the atitude of Oh I have got to see this just looking for the negative. Just look at the accomplishments that these people have in the article. Its a good read. Don't agree with him thats O'K.maybe you can make your own list. I would like to see it too. Maybe someone wants to start a list of players that have won against great players. You can put Rokman on it for when he gave Chuck a loss at Nationals one year right after he dissed on players from Texas.

I think the controversy came from the fact that Jason put it as "the best players" yet they were only his teammates while he left out people like Gino.

Like I said before its an opinion piece, leave it at that.

maybe he should follow it up with an international piece
Canada has very strong players like Sebastian C, Gordon C, and Matthew K

I watched Yamato at worlds, he has a pretty impressive way of playing, but how did his game go?
His opponent rolled him colpletly with Legos, then he topdecks Cynthia and drops Claydol Flygon Weavile Vibrava...

I'm not sure 100% sure but pretty close that this was me. I was pretty confident and feeling good since I was doing so well with Legos. Then he gets everything for his field in 1 turn and I just die inside.

I was really hoping some Somalian players would be on that list. Jason K wanted Worlds in Somalia. There are probably some players who have been left off that should have been on there, but recognition is only speaks of what a player leaves on another player whether it's public as this or not, that's all it really is. And maybe some people just wanted to recognize other players.
