Location of Worlds 2005

Atlantic City, NJ.

Pokemon for the kiddies, casinos for the mommies and daddies.

As much as it sounds cool,i used to live in atlantic city and no place in that city has a space big enough to accomidate worlds. The casino halls wouldent be able to bring kids in and out and the adults would be way over tempted to run the tables if there. Great choice but i very much dought it will land here.

Why not Rome? :p A big Worlds Championship into the Colosseum :D

(/me hope that the new Prof Program provides some system of trips/invites for Professors to go at Worlds ^_^)

The World Championships should be in Lansing, Michigan. There are some pretty awesome players in MI, and NEO is pretty close by so everybody there can make the grinder if by some off-chance they don't win a trip. Michigan is easier to access by a few hours than NEO country-wise, so that's where I'd stick it. NEO would be nice as a second choice.

Not Hawaii, they already had Tropical Mega Battle there. Don't wanna have a volcano explode on your hand when you're trying to play pokemon and have your cards turn hard as stone from the magma cooling overtop of them, now do ya?

OMG YES ALASKA! WOOHOO! Jermy wouldn't have to drive so far to get to the grinder! Hehe, neither would Martin, for that matter. ;x

Virginia would be nice...ehehehehe...

OMG...bestest idea EVER! Only thing is MI generally doesn't get anything special since we've got Origins and Gencon near by. -SB21

First of all, Hawaii would be a catastrophe for most of the little distributors in Europe as it is not affordable. Some countries (e.g. Switzerland) had major problems to send one or two players to Orlando at all because the distributors have to pay for the trips all by themselves and get nothing paid by PUI.

What would be the strategically best decision for the location of the Worlds next year depending on the situation we have in International OP? Japan has lots of good players and has lots of money, so that travelling should be no problem for them and you don´t have to promote an event directly in Japan because of high player numbers. Same goes for US. What should give us sorrows is the situation in Europe, where there is little OP. Some very few countries are going well, but in most of the countries overhere there is no support for the game and the game is short before dying. So the best option to retain the "Internationality" of the event (nice try, if 85% of all players come from one country) and to rescue a forgotton continent would be to give the event to Europe next year. Maybe the boost of such an event would help the game to get really international.

My vote: Paris, Euro Disney.

I heard from MikeL (PUI) that next year's event would be in Edmonton. He picked there because it was just about the farthest north of any city in North America. I guess that he didn't appreciate our liquid sunshine or the humidity that you can cut with a knife. :p
 I was hoping for Seattle, but that would be... excellent.

Somehow I doubt it though...

(BTW the absolute hottest it gets here is like 85)

You know, part of me would like to drive to Worlds, but the other part of me doesn't want to see one nation provide the majority of the players at Worlds. So I feel hawaii would be the best place. Everyone would need a plane ticket there so only the best would be there.

I for one vote Japan in 2005.

Would be interesting to see how we handle being the minority, needing the translators and whatnot.

Would also be cool to see the new theme park!

Hey, I will wear a shirt and tie and my prof coat to judge with those guys again!

I think it should be in san diego where comi-con was. They have this big room where they could fit everybody and they could hold side events in the convention rooms.

I got a few suggestions...

Atlanta, GA- i went there already, and the place looks awsome. The best place to have the tournament would have to be at the Georgia Dome, which is basically for Hockey and stuff, but hey, if Robots can compete in it, so can cards  (for those of you who are in the US FIRST program, you would know what i mean)

Chicago, IL- Yes, i may sound a little selfish, but im sure we can find somewhere to have the event. How about in teh Sears Tower

Minneapolis/St. Paul, MN- Lots of room in Mall of America

New York, NY- They have hte Pokemon Center store, which would make perfect sense

Redmond, WA I smell a gaming icon somewhere nearby...

Tokyo, Japan- Having it in the capital of the greatest country, IMO, ever made

London, England- lots of things to see there as well as lots of Pokemon action

Athens, Greece- Another great competition of many countries

I've never been to the pokemon center, is it big enough? I've always wanted to go back to NYC.

Anyway, it's only logical to have it in Japan or North America simply because it would cost the least to take the majority of players there. Remember that Worlds is really just an advertising campaign to get more people to play. It's and incentive for people to buy more cards, in order to build better decks, in order to have a chance to win prizes at a major tournament. Nintendo still has to look at the lowest amount of cost while keeping the majority of players happy.

The ideal place would be in the midwest, but it wouldn't be as bad to switch between west and east coast either, since the majority of US players are concentrated in those areas. I wouldn't mind japan either (i'd have to bring a translator, oh well), but it's unlikely simply because shipping 200+ players to Japan would cost too much money.

My best choice would be somewhere on the west coast. As Worlds was in Orlando this year. Western US players have to have their fun, too.

Seattle-PUI won't have to ship their staff anywhere, besides, I can be selfish too.
LA-You have just won the world championship, what are you going to do next? I'm going to Disneyland.
San Diego-Former spot of WCSTS, why not again?
Las Vegas-Maybe not, Vegas has changed too much in the last few years for a real family enviroment. I can see this at some of the casinos, though
Tsugoyosi 7-6
Chris 7-5
Go 2-1
Yuki 3-1
Levi 10-1
Colin 5-1

Edmonton-I think this was just a joke, but it's still a possiblility, biggest mall in the world
