regice don´t have requirements like blissey so regice can be effectice way to start the engine.

Regice does have a requirement: the Defending Pokemon can't be an evolved Pokemon. I realize that this is not so much a problem in an SP heavy format, but with Gyarados, Machamp, Vilegar, and the mirror around, it may not be the best choice. Also, Regice can become useless in the late game, whereas Blissey can always heal effectively.

There is a ruleing on regice (and also registell) so you can use the power with no effect and still discard. Regirock cannot through

It is on topic. We are discussing the variations of Magnerock with different preferences in builds. My preference is to use Machamp as a starter pretty much versus the likes of Spiritomb or any other starter. Realistically, Smeargle sets me up on the first turn VERY CONSISTENTLY if they have a Supporter. It is honestly the BEST starter for Magnezone, which nobody seems to have pointed out yet. And if I don't have Smeargle, I'll probably have a way to get him or a T1 Machamp. Regirock doesn't NEED to be used every turn to have a copious amount of energy in play for Magnezone. In fact, I don't even run 2 Regirock in my build. I only use 1 because 2 is usually overkill on your bench space. I just don't see your deck surviving against anything named SP. Especially not anything that has ANY disruption. If I Judge you first turn with Sableye and you don't really get THE NUTS, then you are doomed. That would be a game over. Fact is, I'd run all over your build's face with any of the following: Luxray GL, Roserade GL, Blaziken FB. Good luck getting unlocked with your 2-3 Warps that you can't search out because you don't run Poke-Drawer. <_<

PS . . . I haven't lost to pure Magnerock with my Luxchomp in 4 matches with it throughout my States run this year. So, agree to disagree, but a good Luxchomp player shats all over it. Utilize Luxray's Bright Look to kill anything not named Magnezone, and snipe the Rocks with Garchomp. Done deal.

Its a good thing all decks run Luxray, Blaziken, AND Roserade!

And, FWIW, he DID 8-0 swiss at a HUGE tournament, seems to have some merits to his lists ability to beat SP.

i played this deck at states and came 6th 2-2

a card better then regice and blissey was what i found useful junk arm becaause it didnt take up the bench space u needed and got some of ur trainers out again.

would you considir blaziken a huge problem mid-late game? At league a while back i tested vs a blaziken varient and found that it is not as much of a problem if they use it mid-late as to when they use it early game. it could be different for some people so discuss.

Interesting, you said Smeargle was the best starter, but you're using Spiritomb. I don't see your argument...

And even with Spiritomb, you can still miss the T2 Magnezone. I've had it happen a few times. And as long as you have a hand at all, unless it's full of Energy cards, Vilegar will always be a threat. Especially with as many cards as the deck draws.

Blissey may not be NEEDED, but she's an effective source of discard. Plus, she has no requirements, unlike Regice or Regirock, so you can discard at will to start your engine.

Seeker is bad for this deck. You're picking up a stage 2 that, unless a BTS is down or you have multiple candies, is going to take you two turns to put down and power up, and given the fact that this will most likely be mid- to late-game, that increases the chances of getting sniped off the bench.

3 BTS is more than enough to have it out the entirety of the game, so I don't see how Seeker would ever be bad. Plus it can be used for a donk in my variant.

Blissey is bench space.

And I don't use Spiritomb actually... just Smeargle.

Morten, I have found Blissey PL to be great, especially at adjusting around key KO levels in the luxchomp match...yeah the bench space issue is problematic, but from my personal playtesting it improves the luxchomp deck. Blissey is much easier to retreat if needed than Regice, and I love the healing. I have not tested it against Gyarados yet, but it could help delay a KO there if you were able to time it into them taking two turns to get a Gyarados back out (say if BTS is not down yet, or they are already out of Gyarados).

Do you think teching in a 1-1 line of Donphan Prime is good? Ive tested it and its a good backup attcker for a turn or two
