Happy Birthday Pikachu-
Got it in the Pikachu World Collection for my 8th Birthday (we had a card vendor in our mall that sold really rare stuff).
I still have it and carry it with me into games and tourneys as my good luck charm. It's one of the only cards I still had after 4 years of dormancy in my basement after moving houses.

I feel a bit late to the party here, but thought I'd post anyway. I haven't posted in ages, might be gettin back in the game soon :)

Anyway, I have a couple that I'll list. I can't remember my first card unfortunately, but these bring back memories.

When Pokemon cards first came out, and I started collecting the card that springs to mind most is a base set doduo. This is because I distinctly remember being off sick from school watching cartoons, and decided I would spend the pocket money I had scraped together on a booster pack. Inside was a doduo, which was a card I had only seen once before at school, and for some reason thought it was hyper rare. I think this may have had something to do with Imakuni's doduo, but I'm not sure. Strangely I can even remember i also got a clefairy doll as the rare in that pack, and was watching the cartoon Fat Dog Mendoza haha. Thinking hard, it is possible my first card was a base set poliwag. I think I remember trying to trade this for a holo Hitmonchan haha.

A card that brings back a perculiar memmory for me is Fossil Moltres, as I rember being at a large store when a trade session had been organised, there must have been hundreds of kids there, and i was standin next to this kid when he opened a pack, and before he did i was saying repeatedly that I thought he'd get a holo moltres, and what do you know? He did, and I convinced him to trade for my fossil hypno.

I then lost interest in Pokemon for a year or so, but then I only had a few cards - about 15 holos at the time. I got back into collecting again, and this time it got serious, with over 500 holos. And the first card I got in a booster at this time was a holo Bellossom from neo genesis, which has since held specific entimental value to me. i once traded it away, but through considerate effort, managed to get back the very same card. After selling my enitre collection, I kept this card, and it is now the only holo I have.

Neo genesis Lugia and neo destiny shining charizard hold fond memories for me, as I thought of them as somewhat unobtainable at the time, and thought my collection would never be complete without them, and my collection never really saw a shining charizard.

2 more cards I will mention are Neo revelation holo suicune and holo delibird. I had all the cards in neo revelation except these two, and one day bought two packs. Coincidentally, the two rares were holo delibird and holo suicune!

And Charizard ex will always hold fond memories for me, always trying to get one, trading them away, and loving them, at the height of my collection.

Sorry if that was rather long and I mentioned several cards, but all give me great memories, and I am feeling rather nostalgic haha.

I may get back into pokemon with the purchase of a 1st ed base charizard :)

Let's see... when I was a kid, I had a Base Set Blastoise Lv. 52, I was not a smart kid, and when McRays (which is now Belk) had a Pokemon Tournament, I traded it to a kid for a Mewtwo Lv. 53 (I didn't know it was in theme decks).

All the same, I really like that Mewtwo Lv. 53. I mean, that Particular Mewtwo Lv. 53. It's got identifying scratches on the text field that are holographic, and the boarders are holographic as well, from years of wear and tear.

Gonna have to go with Exeggutor d. Eggs has always been one of my favorite Pokemon, and he won me my first trophy a couple years ago.

Probably Blaine's Arcanine, when I was young I used to think the 120 damage it did made it the best card in the game. I started a pokemon club at school and told every one it was like the the best card in the world so everyone wanted it.

This an awesome thread it sure brings back memorys

I loved playing Blaine's Arcanine.

But I truly hated seeing Clefable come out.

Ouch.

Oh my goodness, it is ridiculous how many memories I have tied to pokemon and how these cute little pocket monsters have preoccupied, enraptured, and shaped my life. I started collecting when pokemon first came out over here. I was six years old at a card convention in the Swansea Mall. Base set Raichu and Gyrados caught my eye; I had to have them and consequently, I somehow (to this day I still have no idea how) convinced my mom it would be a good idea to buy these two cards for me, single, for more than thirty dollars--yikes!

But I didn't open my first pack yet, my first packs had nothing good in them; I had the worst luck imagineable and I still do today.

So my first pack of base set, actually, I owe this to my mom again. If it wasn't for her, I never would have gotten it. We were at some weird flea market and my mom was checking out her items. At the register, beside the tabloids and obligatory candy racks whispering your name in sugar coated purrs, was a box of base set, almost full. My mom said, "Oh Taylor see this? These look pretty neat, maybe we'll buy a few."

I opened my pack and it was nothing good, possibly a trainer or something dumb, whatever, it was cast aside immediately as I saw the beautiful stars dancing upon my mother's holofoil Mewtwo card. And so as we bought more packs, I accumulated more junk rares--no holos-- as my mother amassed more and more of them: then Polywrath, Blastoise, Hitmonchan, Nidoking, I was particularly afixiated by Zapdos, looking menacing behind a ominous black backdrop. She kept her holos in a pink binder. Pretty soon I started to become sick of them seeing as I had no luck and the cards seemed to love my mother, holofoils just waltzing into her lap pack after pack.

Then one day, we took a trip to toysRus and we saw a huge bin of pokemon cards and there was a strict limit 5 packs per person; a testament to the popularity of pokemon at the time. My mother, father, two older brothers, one younger, and I strolled up to the check out, carrying thirty packs of base set. The cashier's eyes narrowed as she looked from the heap of cards to the six of us, face plastered with a condescending snear. "Have you seen we have a limit to---"

My mother cut her off, pointing to each of us, "We know, five packs per person."

I finally pulled my first holo that day, Venasaur. With that cool green color I fell in love with it and felt so proud of pulling my first one. It is a feeling I still get to this day. So I became more interested in Pokemon. I remember bringing them in to school and trading with nearly all the kids in my class. My older brother was particularly mad at me when I traded his Clefairy for a common Pikachu. But I also made my fair share of good trades as well, my Arcanine for a Machamp and so on. Though I never learned to play pokemon, I sure loved trading and collecting them but now, I play as well. I think my trouble pulling a holo is what fuels my imperative to collect holos today so neurotically (I laugh at myself). Of course that day, my mom pulled the grand daddy charzard, and I never did. Though I did find one on the bus that looked like it had been through a cold rinse washer or two. The kid had been looking for it all week and it took every moral fiber of my being to return it to him. (Hey I was still six you know!).

My first grade teacher, Miss Lipson. I drove her crazy playing pokemon during math, reading penmenship, ect...so one day she got so fed up she took my mewtwo and machamp away and my mother had to come in during recess to get them back from her! Ouch, that's one painful poke memory.

Finally jungle came out and I remember jungle being scarse and hard to come by at first. Funcoland was the only store in the county that had them initially. My mother and I got in line to purchase them, you see they were kept well guarded behind the counter (it's so sad seeing the packs in toysrus now, single packs in plastic cases as if they were video games). Then just as we were next in line and so close to the packs I could taste them, the women in front of us bought twenty packs! That was the first memory I have of my mom's signature dry humor, calling the woman a pig, though of course, not to her face. Nevertheless, we ended up getting a few packs; Pinsir and Mr. Mime, with its paltry 40 hp.

For christmas that year, while I got many special gifts and presents, one easily comes to mind as one of the most memorable and creative ever. What kid is excited getting clothes on xmas. Thoughts of murder and other evil deeds crossed my mind as my mom handed me a rectangular present; I instinctively knew it had to have some clothes in it, taunting me. I reluctantly ripped it open and underneath a gray sweater, a heaping hidden casche of secret packs lined the bottom of the box like gold. I almost did a flip as I opened holo after holo; first wigglytuff (very exciting seeing as I was going through a jigglypuff fad), then pidgeot, a Kagemaru Hinemo masterpiece, two venemoths, Nidoqueen (I lol'd for hours on end @ boyfriends), and Jolteon, another Hinemo piece.

Then there was the time my mom thought I stole a Flareon (jungle) from her. She didn't believe me when I told her I got it in a pack after my dad took me to see the iron giant in theaters. I hated the movie. But the card stirs up so many memories and how ridiculous the whole fiasco was, carrying on for weeks. Shheesh, was I a criminal or what back then?

Ahh let's see here other miscellaneous mermories: Playing Erika's vileplume deck and misty's tentecruel deck. I loved the gym expansions while my mom didn't; she slowly started to eschew the cards. But above all, the neo expansions were my favorite. Though I did't aquire Revelations Suicune until fairly recently, that is my favorite card period. I still have a printing of it hanging on the wall in my room. And I can't begin to describe the anguish and endless toil I went through to get shining Celebi. Countless packs, blood, sweat, and tears; I finally got it Walmart, in one of those blister packs that I swear are rigged with the worst rares ever. Surprisingly enough, in that blister, not only did I get my celebi, but also a shining noctowl as well, so I was simply ecstatic.

Oh my goodness I could go on and on but I feel so silly, almost writing a whole novel over this! But Pokemon holds a tender place in my heart (though I do blame it for my shortcommings and inadequacies in math today. I was always trading during math) and it always will. I think it's partly because of how I was emmersed in it at such a young age; I mean I can't remember much before first grade, and then it's just pokemon. Sheesh, I'll spare you all for now.

i have two my first ex wailord ex from sand storm i rember flipping out and it was great cause it was better than all my freinds card s=) and then shining Kabutops it was given to me by my god father who is a very close freind of min ei rember being 3 or 4 and he told me 2 pick a hand i chose right and he gave me the back wit hit in it. he also collected Pokemon and he got the original charizard from the pack in his left hand.

Jungle Pinsir. First pack I ever got had Eevee, Dodrio, PokeBall, Pinsir, Spearow, Cubone, and Paras. The other was Base Alakazam. I played a deck based around it for years.

My favorite TCG card ever made was Tyranitar from EX Rocket Returns.

For one, it was my first holo rare, and at the time it's Poke-Body and attacks seemed awesome to me.

its on the front page of my binder =) i love that card i used 2 think it was the rarest card ever dont rember y but i thought it was beast.

Blaziken EX because the Blaziken deck of 04 won me Maryland States, as well as a Gym Challenge,
and then proceeded to T16 at Nats and T32 at Worlds. All while I was still in the 11-14 age group.

I have fond memories when I see Abomasnow, and all the awesome, strategic games I had to play with it, when I look at Salamence d and Flygon d (I love dragon types!) for Sunny D and R-Gon.

I've got a story about my second favorite cards, that I just remembered. When Jungle came out, Mom bought me three first edition packs. If you'll remember, the packs featured Flareon, Wigglytuff, and Scyther. I opened my Scyther pack. It contained a holo first edition Scyther Lv.25 (which was awesome, it stands as my second favorite card). I opened my Wigglytuff pack. It contained a holo first edition Wigglytuff Lv. 40 (which was also awesome. My 3rd favorite card. I even played decks with this one). I opened my Flareon pack. It contained a non-holo first edition Flareon Lv. 28, which, while it wasn't as rare or useful, still blew my mind from the sheer probability.

It's not a specific card per say, but looking at the art on front of the old base set/jungle/fossil booster packs just makes me remember my days and nights of looking through my binder of Pokemon cards, making decks, and spending entire sleepovers trading cards with my friends.

Ninetales base set also reminds me of when my brother and I first got into Pokemon. It was his first card and his prized posession, but I convinced him to trade it to me for something useless. (heh) After a few minutes he realized his mistake and went crying to my mom, who made me trade it back. I was such a nice older brother :p

Gardevior sw because its the card i did best with in the season =) won states then top 16 at nats with it

I <3 psychic lock

I would have to say poliwhirl from skyridge. My mom used to sit me on a little bench after we got a pack and i would open them. I remember this card cause i thought this could do a million damage. XD

Also props to gengar and nidoqueen for getting me top in canadian nationals.=P
