No High Rollers in Pokemon

What? People have for years been unable to complete start-up procedures because they didn't/couldn't decide on who would flip and who would call, or because both players wanted heads/tails?

My point was that now, once this rule is being enforced, we should just follow it, and there's no need - or rational reason - to argue against it. If two players - like in the example I quoted - are being so difficult that they can't even complete start-up procedures for these absurd reasons, I would as a judge be strict and tell them they better pull themselves together and stop acting ridiculous.

What I meant was people have been using high roll to determine who goes first for a long time. I have not heard of any issues with being able to decide what method is used to start a game.

Really this does not solve that problem. Two people could be unmovable on their position of their randomizer at the start of the games. I want to use a coin for heads/tails, my opponent want to use a dice to determine heads/tails.

So yeah theres still the possibility of an argument being started, nothing has changed as far as that is concerned.

Will since we have to flip coins... can we at least get some decent ones... the pokemon are so horrible that they are the reason we started rolling dice can we at least agree on that?

You.....
can.....
rolll....
a.....
die...
for...
the...
"flip".

oh this is going to be irritating to try and train to kids. what an awful idea. there's probably 100 more important things wrong with the game right now. this somehow reminds me of the government... just doing meaningless stuff to make it seem like they're busy.

So I know kids who like their coins. They really like their solid metal official Pokemon ones. There are rules about how a coin flip works. Are these going to be enforced? I have spent 5 minutes trying to get a kid to flip a coin correctly (he did not wish to use a dice and as the rules states he doesn't have to) because it either just flipped off the end of thumb to table or flew off to some spot away from the battles play area. If "heads or tails" is the starter then I will be using a coin because how does one roll a dice and the other call it before it stops rolling without giving a countdown like RPS. The call is suppose to be in the air so the flipper does not know what the caller will decide upon. I would hope that I don't know anyone with rigged dice but if we have to do it proper then is there a good description somewhere of how the flip works? Does Japan want it called in the air and does Japan want the standard flipping rules apply?

About the dice thing. Its really easy.......

The person who throws the dice, can either throw throw the dice in the air OR roll it onto the play area. The person who will call it, calls it mid-way through the flying or rolling. IMO

A die can be tossed in the air as easily as a coin.

As for the kid who couldn't manage a coin toss, at some point it's interfering wtih the event and so either someone else will flip for him or he can roll a die, his choice. But he doesn't get to spend 20 minutes trying to get a legal flip.

Ahargh!

Like, call your attack/power, mark your damage & status? Let's start there.

I am greatly amused by the thought of someone walking up to a POP/PUI person and laying this trip on them face to face. Of course, that won't happen, will it? Not even a letter or email. Nope. No it won't.

Ah, this seems like a harsh penalty  . I like it. *notes this in judge training manual*

well if they cant decide...

just high roll to see who flips a coin xD

Ha ha ha. Nope!

dont forget setting prizes!

i would love to say that to their face. not over the internet. im not about writing emails.
i would love to tell them straight up that what they are doing on several issues is flat out ridiculous.
even if i werent to do it face to face i would still voice my opinion in the general area they are in.
very loudly.
i know that japan has ultimite athourity and what not, but they can at least try to make this more enjoyable.
like 2005-2007, ahhh, those were the good ol' days.

how can they 'try to make this more enjoyable' when the only correct answer when japan says 'jump' is 'how high?'?

'mom

personally i dont think theres anything wrong with highrolling to see who flips a coin, unless if that is absolutely illegal

someone please tell me why you cant do this? high roll doesnt take that long, and im sure that flipping a coin will be shorter, unless if your opponent is running late or something...

dont get me wrong on this, i am not against flipping a coin, its just im looking at the worst case scenario which could happen, and i think this is a solution that will satisfy both players if they both refuse to flip a coin

although still...not being able to start a game on a stupid coin flip makes you even stupider...

you and I both know this has nothin' to do with jumpin'.

all in all, however, they can try and reason with them, tell them that X amount of players in other places than japan are disatisfied with various things about the game state.
their larger format, out cut cards, all of their extra cards, this whole dice issue, and many more things that i cant even remember right now, because there are so many of them!
you gotta reason with people, the Japanese are loving, caring people, you talk to them from the heart and they will listen! lol.
in all seriousness im sure with presistance it could be done. presistance rules all.

You'll be at Nationals?
We can make sure you have the opportunity.
Would love to see it.

Not nearly as manly as doing it face to face.
