you and I both know this has nothin' to do with jumpin'.

all in all, however, they can try and reason with them, tell them that X amount of players in other places than japan are disatisfied with various things about the game state.
their larger format, out cut cards, all of their extra cards, this whole dice issue, and many more things that i cant even remember right now, because there are so many of them!
you gotta reason with people, the Japanese are loving, caring people, you talk to them from the heart and they will listen! lol.
in all seriousness im sure with presistance it could be done. presistance rules all.

Lets see....at Worlds, many japanese players try to use English cards to help US out more. PCL allowed the use of dice at all, they use damage counters in Japan and coins to flip. There have been many ruling issues that occur at Worlds where the Japanese do it a particular way, but "we" in the USA did it differently...they went along with "us" @ Worlds bc we were the hosts. Later on, they would pass on the "correct" way to do it and ask that we "fix" our ways. Yes, PCL and the japanese are good and kind people, but it is their game and they DO make the RULES.

You might want to put that in your siggy or just check if they need brain surgery
At this point, brain surgery would probably result in a big 404.

Seriously, for the umpteenth time:

Use a die for head/tails: check. CHECK. C-H-E-C-K.

Use a die for a high roll to determine who starts: Nope.

haha! you people really dont think I'll do it!
I tell ya, if i go to Nationals I am gonna have a roose of a time telling whoever that he needs to try to get our format to not suck, stop with ridiculous rule changes that dont have anything to do with anything (like this one), and to cut the crap with the "cost effective" situation theyve been having for the last while.
I, of course, will do it respectively, so if you just want to see some big show, youre gonna be out of luck there.
unless i get ******, then it would be all out. and trust me, I can go ALL OUT.
and if that happens, there is definitely someone else (not gonna say names) thats gonna get a mouthfull while I'm at it, haha.

Let's not open up the D20 argument again.
This is why they are moving to this.
Go to one of my events with a D20 and it is only a damage counter for you.
Other people prefer them as ramdomizers.
Vince

We had to ban d20 as Damage Counter because they tend to "roll by themselves" when the players next to you tumble the table when they've finnished their match and leave the table.
We're sticking to d6 as Counters. Even d12 is shaky that way...

I don't know what everyone is talking about when they say "we've always done it high roll". We've always done it coin flip, high roll was a corruption of the rule. Every new person who walks into league flips a coin. I only started using dice because some tournament players at league rolled D20s and I thought they were cool. BEfore that, I was all about the coin.

Agreed, that's what happens. It seems that "new people" have studied the rules from internet/themedeckRulebook, and they obey the rule. They flip, with a coin.
Then they come to "where it's always done so-and-so", and get corrupted

But, honestly, try mapping the d20 high-roll out, like you did in high school Classic Propability Calculus. Before anyone rolls anything, there's a 47.5% chance you'll go first. Also, there's a 47.5% chance your opponent goes first. So, in that respect there's a 50-50 resolution, like in a coin flip.
But wait, where did the 5% go? It's the tie, when both roll the same digit. This 5% is the time-waster effect you end-up dealing with if you use high roll.

Just do like you're told in the rules. After all, that's a rule. You follow the "Poison" rule, dontcha? You follow the rules for Retreating, right? Why should you NOT follow the rule for seeing who goes first? Coz you think it's stupid? C'mon, just play the game, you KNOW it's fun!:thumb:

EDIT: Please, note, that I'm not emphasizing the use of an actual COIN, when I say "coin flip". Rolling a die, any die, for odds/evens suffices as simulating a coin flip for heads/tails, as the result is exactly 50-50 without a possibility for a tie. Yes, we roll in our league, high-roll. But in events, it'll be flip (or simulated flip) for who goes first.

My small league is made up of Mostly junior division players...and well, some of them have a hard time flipping a coin! :) It's just easier for them to roll the dice. (It's also nicer for those 'flip multiple coins', you can just roll all the die at once, and count quicker. :) Plus you don't have to have counters AND a coin, cause they can function as both. I know what the rules say, but from a league owner's standpoint, it's just less of a hassle to use dice.

ONCE MORE...they CAN use dice: they just have to use them for heads/tails (even/odd) rolls rather than HIGH ROLL to start the game.

There is even a song about this thread!!!

Here are some of the lyrics:

I recall a friend of mine
With a tear in my eye
I stand here at the altar
He's out
I'm left with a problem now
I'm here on earth left with the pain
Look what you've done
You should have called

Flip a coin, flip a coin, flip a coin
Yeah heads I win, tails you lose
Flip a coin, flip a coin, flip a coin
Yeah heads I win, tails you lose

:lol::lol::lol:

That doesn't make any sense.

I actually always roled even=heads odd=tails so no big for me. Though I do wonder why this thread had to go this long with people who are complaining about the new rule. What is even scarier is all the people out there who are still clueless about the dice usage.

Well actually this thread is one of my favs in a long time. No big anger just lots of hilarious confusion, which doesn't seem to go away no matter how we try to clear it up.

(Roll a dice or) flip a coin to get your heads/tails and start your game.
Call your attack
Call your powers
Mark your damage and status conditions

Its all legal and everything is required except what's in parenthesis (but you CAN roll Heads=Even/Odd=Tails with a DICE to start).

What's hilarious and sad is the widespread resistance to all those required actions. This 'shortcutting' is one reason US players get criticized at Worlds. Many give the appearance of not knowing the rules.

lol, I guess you're right. What good is complaining about it gonna do? I'll make sure to alert the squad, no more high roll! :)

I'd do it. Anytime, anywhere, anyone. Anyone who knows of me knows I would. I'm infamous for a reason. The older-sounding folks on here seem to think it'd be some kind of joke, like it'd be funny. Hah. That's the funny part.

I won't be at nationals, I won't be at worlds. But i'd do it. Send 'em to a pre-release, battle roads, my league, heck, even my house. I'd send 'em back to you guys in shambles. Tears. I promise.

Also, you'd have a better game within 24 hours of the event. Thanks to me. I've got the guts, the smarts, and the mouth to do what needs to be done. Especially when it comes to taking people down a notch when the time calls for it.

This isn't about this silly dice rule, implemented only to distract us from the rest of the problems with the game, this is about those other problems. And the problems looming in the future.

Don't act like some of us don't have the guts to tell these guys how to do their job right. They don't have the guts to listen to us, no, even endure some of us.

Dave Schwimmer or whatever his name is couldn't roll my dice for me if he tried. He couldn't even flip my coin.

Want a better game, players?
Want happier players thus more money, POP/PUI?

Ball's in your court, Pui/Pop/Nintendo.

If you've got the guts.

And bring some kleenex 'cause you'll be needing them when i'm through.

You'll hate it when i'm right.

You have got to be the ignorant person I've ever seen. This isn't Dave's Rule this is Pokemon's rule and has been since the beginning of the game. We as Americans corrupted a rule and the Creators of the game asked us to stop. Way to go tough guy spout off on a message board and think your making some huge policy change. They're not saying you can't use Dice there just saying High Roll is not how you start a game it is determined by a heads or tails flip(roll). If you would like to discuss this as a civilized person then by all means lets talk and I'm sure Dave and anyone else at PUI will be glad to discuss this.
