@Arcticjedi, you know what they say, 'Out there is the truth.'

Where do you see "Moderator" under PokeDaddy's name?
Reading comprehension for the win.
How about realizing that there are literally hundreds of posts in this thread that don't agree with positions expoused by staff and they're all still here.
The ones that aren't were removed for going way past the rules, posts on both sides of the issue.
I'd really appreciate if the OP (Absoltrainer) or a mod could edit the copy and pasted article out from the first post. I'm ok with snippets of it being reposted, but I'd rather the entire article not be copied and pasted here as it's unique content on 6p. Thanks.
The reactions of Pokemom and Evil psyduck to this has really made me think twice about ever attending an event outside of my area again. It's always people like that who end up in charge. Or at least they act like they are.
I do really respect Pokepop for being real as always. However, as far as many of the other moderators and event organizers go, this is just so far beyond ridiculous behavior for people who are so high up in the pokemon community that it's disgraceful. Regardless of what someone else did, the people in charge of running an event are responsible for something, right? If they're not in charge of registration, who is? People in charge of running something usually accept responsibility when something goes wrong. Crucifying someone for making you look bad is pretty low. What a shame.
What we do know is that there should definitely be more attention paid to who is allowed to play in the tournament.
The word trainwreck has well been applied to this situation and this thread.
The OP has certainly sown the wind and reaped the whirlwind. But many other people, who were bystanders, both on site and miles away, have also been caught in this whirlwind.
We at the Gym have taken body blows over keeping this thread open, letting it be locked, being to harsh, too easy. It's astounding to me how high emotions have run over this - not because I think people wouldn't/shouldn't be outraged one way or the other, but because many people from every position have said and done uncharacteristicly shocking things.
Everyone, from the OP to the most trollish or most sincere respondent in this thread is responsible for their words online.
We don't delete accounts, though we've had requests from those both pro and anti the OP to delete their account; once you post here, if its not in violation of the rules, your post is held in trust by the owners of the board for the community. If we were to let people pull their accounts, many of which have had broad interactions with those that remain you leave a hole in their experience, the community's record. Its like cutting your picture out of the class photo in the hall - its damaging to the whole group. No we wont delete your account. That's our policy, recently reviewed and upheld.
In contrast to these requests, I will note the OP is still 'standing' here toe to toe with all.
Commitment to letting YOU discuss or not, there is a limit to how much energy can be spent on a controlling a 'trainwreck'. Its not that The PokeGym or its staff as a group takes one position or another on the OP's actions. Eventually, in any responding to any disaster, you just have to go get some sleep. There are a lot of you and very few of us. We're tired from dodging flying sheetmetal and pieces of everyone's heart.
You know why US Nats went so smoothly? The players knew what to do and they cared deeply to do it. They didn't do everything they might do on their home turf, they sacrificed some to be on the mark -- they did their part in honor to their game and in hopes to have a grand event. And they got it! Yes, fine leadership from P!P, and experienced, self-directed, low ego, team of staff. But the players made the event work and made it great. (Bravo!)
This thread is what you make it.
...... Let's stop the hating, the bashing, and the cyber bullying.
Look bashing this guy does nothing. You can all talk about how wrong he was for doing this and all that crap, but it does no good.
Who is really at fault though? I mean when signing up for the professor cup you had to give fist and last name. You also had to give a pop ID. On top of all that he had to give his date of birth. I signed up for the professor cup and I know they had a long list of professors names that had POP IDs, date of birth, and how many professor points. Now if this kid wasn't a professor how did the POKEMON STAFF let him slide through? I mean it's obvious his name wasn't on the list. The date of birth clearly didn't match up. Anyone of those things could have stopped this kids fun right then and there. But we know how good pokemon's staff is.... well not that good, so this is how the kid gets through. Because pokemon lets people judge and staff who has no right of doing so. I don't think the entire time at nats I found more than 4 people who should have actually been staffing. The staff at nationals is a joke. The staff member that signed up this kid could have stopped everything, but he or she didn't. Didn't do a thing. From what I see in his article that was link in this thread says
" Anyways, I went up to registration and wrote my name down. I told the registers that I was new to all of this and held my own league (which I do!). They said they would look into the matter to make sure I was a judge. I thanked them knowing that if I was unable to play then it wouldn’t be a big deal to me."
If he truly runs a league he didn't lie. He was new to this. He had never played in a professor cup before. He didn't care one way or another if he got in, but he did get to play thanks to pokemon's staff.... So why are we wanting to give out life time bans to him? I mean what good will it do? I don't think it will do any good because pokemon loses another player. Someone who has bought cards in the past and runs a league which helps supports pokemon. Getting more people into the game and giving them a place to play. By banning him you are possible denying many kids from every getting to play this game. Do I agree with what he did? No, no I don't. Did I find it funny? Yes, yes I did. I couldn't stop laughing when I heard about it. I saw it as a chance to see how fail pokemon's staff is.
We all know that not all professor work hard to get to play in this. I mean it's a stupid test that has nothing to do with current pokemon. You take and pass. I'm sure for most people they don't take the test alone, nor do they take it at all. I'm sure some professor get other people to take their test for them. How can we really say he killed all the hard working professors chances of winning?? I mean I run a league and play in Pokemons events the rest of the time. I got to play in the professor cup. It isn't a lot of hard work. It truly isn't. It doesn't take a lot of work to get the points. If he killed someones dream by winning as a non-professor then you need to look at your life and see what is going wrong. I mean really... It wasn't right for him to do it. It wouldn't have happened if pokemon would get some people who deserve to be staff.
I mean at the end of the day nothing changes. It's a game. It isn't life or death. It is a game! Life goes on with or without pokemon. The game is fun and is meant for spirit of the game. Bashing someone this kid isn't spirit of the game. Him signing up knowing he couldn't play in the professor cup isn't spirit of the game. If you want to punish him to make yourself feel better then just ban him from being a professor. Let him play pokemon and enjoy this time with his friends. Let's stop the hating, the bashing, and the cyber bullying.
Join date today/1 post, Obvious sock puppet account. Why don't you say this on your main account? Knowing who you are lets others take your opinion seriously, just saying.
