Nothing needs to be banned, this petition fails, sorry guys, even if the WHOLE POKEMON COMMUNITY Agrees to ban Gardevoir, they won't, so i was just give it up now, and just plan for Gardy at Worlds, because this just won't worry.

Sorry if i offended anyone/acted harsh

I don't think it'll be banned. I do think that something can be resolved about the disgusting time issue this deck has caused all season, though.

Hmm, true. However i don't see a time issue, sure, people have lost out on games because of Telepass and things like that, but it is a Legitimate Stall tactic. No offense, but i really don't know if much can be done about Gardy, or the time problem that it is causing

It's the sad truth that people have been trying to run a decent counter to this deck for the whole season. Ever since the deck hit the format, it's been running rampant. I played it once at a cities, and realized how much I didn't like the deck. it was too strong, and not even fun to play. But every time I would make a top cut with one of my own creations....gardylade would shoot me down. And with Dusknoir, it's really hard to get around. I was in a match at regionals this year, and I played Magmortar/Blaziken GE/PK, which was a great deck, and I was doing really well with it. I had a maggy x powered up and active.....and then, warp point, dusknoir, palm. Great....that just lost me the game. Not to mention the alakazam MT tech that prevented me from using claydol for any draw, and of course, it was dead draw for the rest of the game. All that based on one move from that deck. If I wasn't Psy locked, I was power canceled. Spring Battle roads was the same thing. I played eeveelutions, and lost to gardylade in top2. Seeing things like that makes this next season look all the more inviting.

Building decks that were good (but not gardylade) were hard, because the one question that would hit. "Is it good against Gardy?" and the answer would usually be no.

I know it's too late now to limit it before worlds, but at least we know the reign is pretty much over after this season.

Ok I read the entire first post and skimmed the responses, so here is mine. But before that i want to say this is an EXTRMELY good article. It does not just go "ban this" it gives reason and supports the evidence.

Possible bans/restrictions besides Gardevoir:

1. Dusknoir and Crawdaunt ex: Dusknoir makes the deck truly disgusting when combined with the other broken combos in GG. By banning it, you would eliminate one of the most frustrating and unpreventable aspects of GG and the format. Of course, you would also have to ban Crawdaunt ex as it is still broken when combined with Team Galactic's Wager and Psychic Lock. Although it's attack isn't as effective as Hard Feelings, Crawdaunt ex would still be annoying and lame.

I do not like this simply because both Dusknoir and Craudaunt ex are used in other decks, I think that would do more then effect GG.

2. Gallade: Psychic Lock would still be a powerful deck, but without the use of its big hitter, the deck wouldn't be dominant. Gallade makes for donking the opponent an option, it wins sudden death and it is basically uncounterable as well. This would be a good ban.

With Gallade, again because alone the card is not as broken, banning it would not be as effective IMO as getting rid of Gardy.

3. Restricting Gardevoir and Gallade: What I mean by this is that you wouldn't be able to use both Gardevoir and Gallade in the same deck. They would have to be in separate decks. This would make it so you don't have the broken combo together. It is truly unbalanced that both can fit in a deck and come from Ralts/Rare Candy or Kirlia.

This is personally my favorite of the 3. It allows the cards to BOTH be playable and thus neither is banned, but severley limits how far each card can go.

To all the people saying "DON"T BAN IT" "THAT IS STUPID" "GG IS NOT THAT GOOD" take the following into consideration.

-Some of the best players 3+ years running all hate the deck DESPITE that is potentially has the best chance of winning.

-Pokemon has YET to ban a card under Nintendo's reign. In fact they have been extremely generous in this fact that other cards like Blaze EX MA and such were never banned. However I have yet to see a deck as domiate as GG in the last 5 seasons I have played. Everytime a new set came out, many people assume GG would go the way of blissey, but it did not.

-There are more decks then GG out there and if the third option is used then Pl0x is still an option

Once again, great article, I agree 100%

The same as nationals, which is the same as pre-releases. Think about that one.

For everyone who thinks it is unrealistic for them to bann cards before Worlds, does anyone remember the good old Feraligator back in the day of WotC. Ya i know different company ownes Pokemon and it's under different managment, BUT they banned Feraligator right before Worlds 2001, even though they allowed it to be played in the Grinder. So this suggests it is not totally out the question for the card to be banned for Worlds. Also this card becomes even more annoying when players who happen to play slow not due to stalling, but becasue that is their natural pace of play you could cry because you know you'll be lucky to get 10 turns and then they bring up Galladar Psychich Cut GG. I do think the card is broken beyond beleif when played together, but I really don't know if they will, because while Nintendo has controled Pokemon they have yet to ever bann a single card during tournaments other than the Professor Cup. (the card was a rare in the set though..) Just my opinion and just reminding others it has been done before but i'm really doubting it will happen now.

No, I think you have it mixed up.
2001 was the "year of the Gatr" It dominated almost every tournament, but it was never banned and World Championships did not begin until 2002. Slowking then became popular and at the first world championships (2002) it dominated all age groups. THEN, after worlds, Slowking was officially banned.
That's the only card to have ever received a ban, except for Sneasel upon release.

FYI, I don't believe it specifically says that swiss HAS to be 30 minutes. Worlds is going to be 8 rounds to T32 like the past I would imagine, 40-45 minute swiss seems pretty reasonable to me. We had a T64 for Nationals with 530+ players in Masters and I can't imagine it being that bad to deal with 145 players in each age division.

I would love to have a 40-45 minute Swiss Rounds for Worlds. I think there is enough time to do this. Hopefully that might be a possibility. :thumb:

I mean if they limited Gardy AND Gallade to 4( like 2 Gardy and 2 Gallade or 3 Gardy and 1 Gallade) people would still basicially have the same results and it would still be as effective just because people would play 2 Gardy and 2 Gallade and just put in a TSD or one more Night Maintenance to make up for that one lost poke.

I am a below average player and refuse to play g/g because I want to to sharpen my skills, have a challenge and fun.
I rather win alone than with a sure bet, well unless paying my mortgage depended on it!

I challenge all of you not to play g/g......................

I'm in the Masters and have an invitation to Worlds. I say ban SW Gardevoir and SW Gallade.

I'm one of those who played GG a long time ago at the last City Championship I attended. I won the tournament, but the deck was boring. Since that day I've seen the deck win EVERYTHING. It's only made me despise the deck even more. Enough of that though -- I've been complaining about the deck for long enough. Here are a few things I want to point out though:

1. The deck wasn't meant to be as powerful as it is in the world outside of Japan. Japan still has numerous cards that manage to exploit weakness in GG (Banette ex, LM Flygon ex, Cursed Stone, LM Misdreavus, Here Comes Team Rocket!, Pokemon Reversal, etc.). The card creators probably meant for GG to be good, but not devastatingly good.

2. The best players in the world have tried to counter the deck. If all those minds couldn't come up with a consistent counter by Nationals, you know something's wrong. Nationals only proves how broken the deck is.

3. The depressing state of the current format could have been prevented. POP sets provide opportunities for reprints to balance the format, but it seems apparent that POP/PUI have little choice in the matter of what POP sets include. Perhaps a bit more realistic is the control they may or may not have over set rotations. I personally have no idea how much control POP/PUI has over these things, but it would be gratifying to know that they're trying their best.

4. GG vs. GG is pretty random. It comes down to petty things that only appear random because of the nature of GG's versatility. "Skill" doesn't have a voice here when a player starts with Pachirisu, takes damage, and then ends up losing in the end because they couldn't Bring Down something off the opponent's bench. The way that it looks right now, Worlds 2008 will be pretty random with all the GG decks floating around. : (

With all of that in mind, it's kind of clear that GG's popularity and power in the world outside of Japan is a discouraging fluke. It should have counters, but it doesn't. It should be beatable, but it isn't. It's very discouraging from my point of view, and it's a main reason I don't play that much anymore.

Edit: The 45 minute Swiss rounds is a good idea, since PUI/POP won't or can't do anything about GG at this point.

One thing that I absolutly LOVE about bandai and its card games, is that they listen to their players, and modify the mistakes they have made. Just saying..

This is like Yugioh! They ban cards that are too good. Maybe that is why it is a dead game...

Did you ever just tough it and consider that Gardy is not unbeatable? Anyone could easily win against it, it isn't like it is the greatest card ever.

Why is it that all of you say that G&G is unoriginal? I say all of you are unoriginal for pushing it to the side, saying "That card sucks!" and not coming up with a way to beat it.

And what does this do for anyone who has a rogue deck that maybe techs in a Gardevoir? That hurts them, and they don't even run G&G/PLox!

And you know PUI would NEVER make a ban like this, considering if it went through, there would be just as many, if not more people who would be p.o'd for the ban.

Did you ever consider that maybe people play PLox because it is good?

Back to back posts merged. The following information has been added:

Additionally, I don't really think GG OR Plox (by the usual standards) won US Nationals, Gino had a very original deck w/ Breloom, Cress, and Jirachi Ex that I don't think too many people ran.

I agree with Chad. GG is way too stall-y, especially when games are time constrained. I played against GG in Regionals, was winning, and then time was called on his turn, tied game. He got the Gardy X and used Bring Down to win...

I can't stand games that last to the very end. I can't think of most decks that abuse time as much as Gardy did.

T2 Plox really hurts, if you think about it. No Claydol, and not set up most of the time .

I would really like to see a poll on the front page on what people think of this. Whether they feel that Gardevoir should be banned for Worlds in something that actually keeps track of peoples votes..
