Pokémon TCG: Sword and Shield—Brilliant Stars

Official PTCGO Bug Thread (Updated 3/7)

Not sure if it's just the computer or if it's due to the issue with the chat.

Been playing the Trainer Challenge to unlock packs, get into a game & play for a bit.
Do something simple like attach energy, choose a prize card, or sometimes even attack, then it just locks up.
Doing nothing for several minutes, I go to surrender, and then when I try to quit the game & it says "not responding".

It doesn't do it all the time, but it is annoying.
I notice when it does this & I check the task manager the system idle is hogging a ton of memory/processor speed.
Then it goes down, and occasionally the game gets going again, but lately it's not doing that.

When I log back in & check out the score against the trainer it still goes up.

Superior Energy Retrieval let's you discard cards despite there not being a single energy in the discard pile.

Pokemon Communication doesn't let you shuffle in LEGEND pieces as Pokemon to get another one.

Looks like after they fixed the message board thing, the game smoothed out a lot.
Didn't really have any issues after that.

BTW I mentioned the Superior Energy Retrieval thing, and its not a bug.
Apparently it lets you play the card, cause it doesn't "know" there are no energy cards in the discard.
You can also play it & choose not to get any energy cards.

I would guess that Legend Cards only count as a Pokemon if you have them in play?
Though not sure why you would be still playing with those anyways since most people play modified.

You can't play a card for no effect. I believe the reason you can play it is you discard two cards. By discarding the two cards you are having an effect.

Except no, you aren't. Paying a cost is NOT the same as having an effect. PTCGO has it wrong here.

I was reading a set review of Plasma Freeze on a different site and the author made the claim that you can play Superior Energy Retrieval even if you have no Energy cards in the discard as long as you can discard two cards. Is this correct, or is the article in error? Thanks a lot!

We also have a WEALTH of rulings that say you're wrong, EP.

That logic only applies to deck searches and that's why you can fail them, not to discard pile searches such as SER.

Also finding bugs for every card is important, and I enjoy playing Unlimited, why I do it is irrelevant. And once again you are wrong, Legend pieces are still Pokemon cards, and in real life you could fetch them or put them back in with Communication.

After every game, it switches back the settings to Unlimited Novice, I don't think that's right..

Also, why was the small info box for the remaining HP and energies removed? That was quite handy.

Yeah that switchback to Unlimited novice is pretty annoying. I accidentally hit Play Game quite a few times while on those settings and then when I've got my "Super powerful ex Pokemon" up against a basic Fighting deck I'm in a difficult position. Cause right off the bat I know that opponent is pretty miffed I'm using a beast against them and if I concede well...they might see it as me just not seeing them as being a challenge.

But anyways I'm not sure if this is for everyone or just me but when a coin is flipped, the animation freezes and I can't see it flip in its entirety. That's something that just bothers me a lot.

What's annoying about the switchback to unlimited is that it does this at the end of every match. Why do they program things to switch back to a default mode, especially a default mode that I would rarely play?

It's also been a lot more laggy since the updates.

Since the latest update, if Snorlax is my active Pokemon, when I play a Pokemon Catcher it does nothing. (As though Snorlax' ability was locking the defending Pokemon in the active position.)

Anyone else having more shaky performance of the client since this update? It's not WAY worse, but it seems a little bit worse.

Its waaaaay worse for me. They need to rollback immediately. I cant even PM because every time I try to select a users tab it "glitches" and resets to the default lobby tab. VERY irritating and makes trading via PM impossible. I love it when they roll this crap out and dont test it on a standard PC (obviously, because if they did- so many people wouldnt have issues) that is 3-5 years old. Also, when redeeming codes, pretty much every time I click off of PTCGO and back into it to copy paste, it glitches. Havent even tried to battle yet, but im assuming thats still working alright since its usually unaffected by updates to the lobby interface.

Every so often, normally after multiple mulligans, the opponent's active pokemon glitches into their hand, and all attachments (energy/tools) on it stay behind it, in the hand.

Also when Squirtle gets Rare Candied to Blastoise, in the log it says "Wartortle evolved into Blastoise", not sure if this applies to all stage 2's after a Rare Candy is used, but I only noticed that one.

That first one has been an ongoing "ghost" glitch since the update for DRX IIRC. It happens randomly though, at least for me. I think it has to do with only certain Pokemon being made active after a mulligan.

If one uses Pokémon Catcher, to catcher away from a Kecleon, while an Aspertia City Gym is in play and Kecleon's Color Change is activated, it does not get the HP Boost when back on the bench. Not to sure if this also affects normal retreating, as my opponent never retreated his Kecleon.

I'm getting lots and lots of lag after this update. The game has a lot of "hiccups." During games this causes an unintentional double click sometimes. Also, there is a bug where if you click and then move your mouse while it's lagging, the click will register where your cursor moved, NOT where you clicked.

This hasn't been their best update that's for sure. :frown:

It runs about as well as the flash game did now. I seriously do not understand how such an issue gets through QC if they actually test the update before going live.
