Ps3 or Xbox 360?

All that I see is game developers that I care about dumping Sony left and right. Many of the hardcore developers went either multiplat or Xbox exclusive. The casual developers went mostly Wii. If the "look" of a game isn't really that important to you, the Xbox 360 is probably the better choice. Its game library, even without backward compatibility, is much larger than PS3's, and the gap will probably stay the same throughout this generation. Also, you'd be missing out on the 360 console exclusives like L4D, Dead Rising, Oblivion, etc. Yes, technically it is the inferior system. However, with the amount of developers that have either left Sony or went multiplat, you'll find most of the Sony games on the Xbox, and a good number of great exclusives that Sony will never get.

ya i got the xbox 360 sorry king of karps i was torn iam more of a gamer than a movie watcher so the xbox was too hard to turn down so many games to chose from but if i get the red ring i will regret my decision dearly.

hey guys i would still like to make this thread competitive about which is better and why one one person would buy either one and not the other just because i made my decision dosnt mean someone else's decision is made so lets keep this thread alive!

I have both the 360 and the PS3 and i would have to say IMO PS3 is better.
Why? Simply because of the controller lol it might seem a lame reason but i cannot stand the 360 controller's and the playstation controller has always been great since the ps1. The only time I use the 360 ATM is for Halo 3, also the PS3 doesn't involve subscribing for internet play.

I would say PS3 because it is the same price as XBox and way more reliable. Also it has free online play and it is really good. I also suggest that PS3 has more games that are more fun like Uncharted or Motorstorm.

Well I have played both.
PS3 has little games going for it still.
It has potential, but until I see more content it is only bluray, great graphics, and install time to me.

360 has tons of content and online play.
Graphics (not as good as PS3, but GREAT)
Games get about as hardcore as they can get.
Xbox live does cost, but it has its perks.
Facebook, Twitter, and Last.FM can be used on 360 starting Nov.
Halo, COD4, CODMW2, and So many down loadable arcade games!

360 is the choice for now,

PS3, eh mabey down the road.

What good is free online play if there is little to play online?

Blu-Ray of awesomeness? Or Red Ring of Death? PS3 all the way.

If you're really having trouble...just get both.

This is a bias remark.

Also what PS3 version would you be getting?

Look at sales figures in Japan where the 360 is behind in sales to the PS2. Yeah its so great thats why the PS2 is still selling more. Project Natal is huge gimick that is still concept and I highly doubt will ever see the light of day as the system will fail before. Netflix is no WOW factor. If you have Netflix already so what. PS3 you can buy the movie.

Why are you talking about Japan sales?

PS3 is dead last, even to its own PS2.

Oblivion isn't a 360 exclusive anymore though. They did port it over to the PS3.

I chose a 360 because I like American games like Fallout 3, Left 4 Dead and Half-Life, and there is no guarantee that they will be supported on the PS3. In fact, Valve doesn't even make games for it anymore, so I had to choose the system I knew Half-Life 2 Episode 3 would be released on. In my viewpoint, all of the good games for PS3 are also coming out on 360, and the ones that aren't I am alright with missing. Little Big Planet looks to be too user-oriented which is boring to me, Uncharted looks polished but typical, and while the Clank games look awesome, I have better games already. The only PS3 game I don't want to miss is the new Team Ico game, but that doesn't come out for another year or so, and I can wait.

This isn't an anti-PS3 post, its just that my preference is for American games, and when I want to play Japanese games, I still have Dragon Quest 8, Final Fantasy 12, Persona 3 and Persona 4 on the PS2. I haven't seen any Japanese PS3 games that can compete with ANY of those 4. EDIT: Yet.

I bought the Xbox 360, originally, as the game released on the system interested me the most, and had some amazing reviews. I liked to play the Halo series, and the bonuses were the Mass Effect game and Fable II, which stole a pretty large chunk out of my life. I also do prefer the controller configuration, as it's easier for my hands to use -- due to where everything is located.

However, the 360 has this tendency to die, as in break down and refuse to work properly. This means that it needs to be sent in for repairs, which costs around $100. I don't know why the 360 is prone to crash, but it does, which is a price to pay with quite a few new-systems.

On the PS3, I bought this system a few years later, more because I could play Disgaea on it, and I also enjoyed the Killzone game when I played it at a friends [Assassin's Creed turned out to be cheaper for this system, at my local Gamestop... for some reason]. The PS3 has some neat exclusives as well, like the Final Fantasy series -- some of the later games are on the 360, but IMO, it's more enjoyable to play them out on a PS3, why? I dunno, just some personal preference.

If you like the PS3 controller configuration, and enjoy things like Final Fantasy, Disgaea, and so on, then I'd say that this would be the better system to get -- the fact that it doesn't crash as much, and that the online play is free, is a bonus.

Now, if you're somewhat like me, and enjoy the exclusives on the 360 moreso than on the PS3, and you like the controller configuration (Having someone nearby, who knows how to fix the system when it crashes is a bonus) then I'd say get this system.

Overall, it just depends on what kinds of games you like, and what sorts of controller set-ups you like. It also does depend a bit on how much you're willing to invest into a system, as a 360 costs more -- you need to pay to play online, and to fix the system, but the 360 also comes with some perks [Which you need to buy separately]. The 360 has a wireless adapter, incredibly useful if you can't directly plug your system into the computer's modem, plus it allows for less wires. TMI: The PS3 lacks a wireless adapter.

Just my two cents on both systems.

Or you could play Oblivion on the superior platform (PC)

this post is so full of win that the OP deservers a cookie!

NIPS - the PS3 has the wireless adapter built in. xD

the only reason why i hate the xbox 360 right now is because it completely ruined the new FF game because it had to be dumbed down for it to work properly. :(

Why does he get a cookie for my post? :(

Probably not. The running specs of the 360 aren't much lower than PS3's as a whole (360's graphics subsystem is significantly more powerful, and the lower OS overhead of the 360 gives it slightly more usable RAM, both of which compensate for the lower CPU power) - most of Sony or Square's claims that the game had to be "reduced" or "dumbed down" are exaggerated.

Didn't know that... but if that's so, then why does mine rely completely on being plugged directly into the modem? o_O

~Nips

You have to have a separate wireless router to broadcast a wireless signal. Most modems don't broadcast wireless.

This is actually blatantly untrue. Square has stated multiple times that they won't even begin work on the 360 version of FF13 (I assume that is what you mean, since there is not other FF game coming out on multiple consoles) until the PS3 version is completed. The 360 version might be altered, but the PS3 version will still come out at the same time and have nothing changed because of the upcoming PS3 version. I will say, the release date might be pushed back just to allow both versions to come out on the same date, but the PS3 version will probably be graphically superior.

PS3's use laptop hardrives so are easy to add alot of extra memory too. They also use Blueray disks. Xbox bought out HD DVDS but they haven't lasted as Blue rays have secured the market. The other benefit with Blue ray is that PS3 games run off them whereas Xbox games use normal DVDs. Bluerays when doubled up can give 50gb per disk!! Dvd's are limited to 9gb, this means later on the potential PS3 games have are amazing. Assasins creed they struggled to reduce enough to get on the Xbox disks so when they really start getting better, PS3 will have the better games.

The only thing I feel Xbox does have for it is the fact it's alot quicker to find games when playing online but then as you pay for that, it's abit annoying. I also like the fact they have a connector to plug a headset into the controller but then again PS3 uses bluetooth and supports wireless headsets and later on they should update it to send files to and from other bluetooth devices.

Xbox's are alot cheaper too but then you get a cheaper product so it's what you can afford really.

To be honest I don't think the Wii competes with either of them as you can't really compare them and it's something you have on top. I personally don't see the point in having both an Xbox and a PS3 as they're similar in terms of games however I have both a PS3 and and a Wii as you get a wide variety of games and playing styles. Nintendo has some amazing creativity and play styles with all the Mario games and Wii controllers however PS3 is what I'll use for the realistic games like Call of Duty and Need for Speed etc.

[Kanye West]I'm really happy for you and Ima let you finish, but PS3 was by far the best console of ALL TIME[/Kanye West] lol ;)

Actually the 360 is last in overall world sales of this Gen and shows that it is only popular here in the US. Only reason PS3 is just now catching one is because at launch it had like nothing good, but now the games are getting a lot better. The 360 is like the orginal PS2. There made cheap and they break more then they should,

And.......
Why would a person waste there 40 some inch TV for Facebook? Most people I know have their computer in the same room or in the next room over from where their system is. Why would Facebook on the 360 be something that makes people say "I gotta buy it."?

No one cares about sales in Japan,America,Mexico,Kazakhstan, etc. Alcohol and cigs are million dollar industries with enormous amounts of people using their products; does this mean they are good for you? Nope!
