from what i hear, the PSP owns DS in every category, and there's not really too many complaints so far about it

Where have you heard that LOL.

Go to the site. Watch the UMD's pop out and FLY to the ground. See how they messed up on the buttons, and made it so that the buttons get bad reception and will break easily. I could go on...

And about the games on DS vs PSP...

DS is stilll at launch. It launched a little while ago, don't think that the games are just going to shoot out left and right. I mean, look at Gamecube, the best game on that right now is RE4, undisputed, and that's probably one of the last games for GCN. Same is true for just about every console.

That, and what does PSP have over DS? So far, the reviews that I have read about MGS: Acid have all called it horrible.

"The controls seem a bit cramped"

You nailed it. Easily a horrible handheld console, PSP will dissapoint more than it will deliver, this is assured.

coolmanderzx, that is the best thing anyone has posted on this thread

Not at all. Read through the thread and note mainly me and Tagrineth's comments on the matter. All he said was heresay and opinion. What we said was solid fact.

The PSP not having much problems? a freind of mine bought a PSP and played it soon afterwards. It was missing about 20 pixels, so he returned it. the new one he got was also misssing pixels, now he is on the third one! that seems like a problem to me.

Ok guys, I got all the cool features of both the PSP and the DS.

PSP features:
Wider screen
Crisper and brighter screen
A Photo system thingy
Music files

And the down's of getting a PSP:
While the DS has over 10 hours of battery life the PSP has an amazing under three hours =/

You should already know the DS's features. Over all, I would say the DS is better cause of its price tag, the PSP's $250 price tag isn't too attractive

the exact same thing happened with the ds. Dead pixels isn't there blame, it happens to a lot of them, and also it can depend on how it was shipped or moved through the company (ie Toys R Us)

Apparently the PSP has an incredibly high ratio of dead pixels atm.

Either that or a lot more people are savvy enough to recognise the problem now.. OR it's only the tech savvy people who care enough to buy PSP's and can thus tell?

IDK though. Haven't looked up sales figures yet.

Guys thanks for your positive feedback. A major problem with the PSP and what is so amazing about about the DS is this. Consumers i.e. us identify handhelds with Nintendo and on the same note know that Nintendo is one that does handhelds justice with quality and very consumer friendly and support their handhelds well. Nintendo has been doing this for well over 15 years. While I'm not here to bash Sony but they are kind of known to leave consumers in the dark when it comes to some problems with their product. For me I had to buy 3 new slim multi-taps before I found one that would freaking work and even now sometimes it still lags.

And as many of you can tell Sony knows about Nintendo's hold of the market and thus didn't release many PSP's at their launches. Plus instead of just directly competing with Nintendo on game basis they add so many different features so that they are a well rounded peice of equipment so that people will actually buy them for other reasons. They do this which I think is a smart thing since they have learned from what has happened to the gamegear and n-gage. Even though those systems have better graphics, power, capabilities and etc they still couldn't overtake Nintendo and thus fell out of the market. What really has screwed up Sony is the fact that they are adding so many features to it is they can't lower the price of the system which doesn't help Sony in getting people to buy their product. Heck even at the $250 price point they still are losing millions of dollars. So basically Sony takinga page out of Microsofts philosophy of lets lose millions upon millions on this product and it'll pay off 5-6 years from now. Ironically the Xbox is still losing millions as I write this.

EDIT: ...screw it...

each company targets a different demographic. one demographic knows how to return faulty products, while the other acts as if a fault in .6% of production means every single system will fail upon purchase

I was playing a psp today.

the graphics are really good, the screen is awesome... but the analog stick was either not responsive enough, or too responsive. It was kind of hard to play the twisted metal game becuase of this.

Overall I see why so many people want it (sexiness ect) but I still think it is a waste of moola

yea I tried it too. It was pretty good. But my worry still stands since there are moving parts its more prone to damage and malfunctions. Which is just crappy in the fact youre paying 250 bucks for the system and that not including the games. But hey if whoever is buying is loaded i guess that doesn't matter does it.

Ugh.

My friend brought his new PSP to school today. There were four dead pixels, and he said Sony refuses to replace it. I also played with it, and as people have been saying, the control ARE cramped. It was so awful. It also ran out of battery even though he only played it once on Easter. I love my DS, and I think it is totally better than the PSP.

Did your friend read his manual when he bought it? I have had no problems with mine. The book gives you the same warnings as all LCD screens do. Read your book, you will find out why they won't replace it, because LCD screens do that and it goes away. You can't play it under certain conditions either. You also can't pause it for extended amounts of time or the paused immage will freeze onto the screen. Same as all big screen tv's made now.

I have no problems with PSP or the Nintendo DS. Only product from either I have never liked was the Virtual Boy, but I don't even think anyone at Nintendo claims that.

Also, your friend may want to try to take it back. Like Farbsman said, it can go away. Mine was kind bad, having around 16 dead pixels, so my TRU let me exchange it.

Ok, I'm ashamed to say it...

but metal gear acid is a FREAKING AWESOME GAME!

I was playing it over my friends house today, and I loved it.

But needless to say, I love strategy games, and thats exactly what this is.

why oh why cant they make a ds version of this? :(

Cuz Konami signed there soul to Sony and Nintendo is only left with well done remakes.

All I have to say is that I picked up a PSP on the first day, have not had one since problem with it, and love it. :thumb:

And you're one of the few that did.

PSP is garbage. This has been established.
