Raichu LV X: Errata Needed?

Raichu lvX's Body:

このポケモンが、レベルアップした番に「ボルテージシュート」を使ったなら、そのあとに追加で1回、このポケモンはワザを使える(追加できるのは1回だけ)。このポケモンが特殊状態なら、このボディーははたらかない。

If this Pokémon uses Voltage Shoot on the turn it Leveled Up, you may after that attack use another one of Raichu's attacks (you may only do this once). If Raichu is affected by a Special Condition, this Body stops working.

A better translation would actually be "After that, as an additional attack, Raichu may (use an) attack once more"

So yes, you may use Voltage Shoot both times.

Back to back posts merged. The following information has been added:

I think that Tyranitar's Poke-body should be power too.

But it's a Poké-Body in Japan, so that's what it will be here too.

^^^It says once during your turn when you lv. him up and use voltage shoot. The way I see it is you can only use 2 attacks. I also think that it should be a power. Maybe it will be like empoleon and get changed.

Please note that Japanese cards are ALWAYS right, no matter what. And that our cards only are wrong if the Japanese original is different.

Do the "^^^" indicate that your reply was directed at me? What do you mean when you say "it says" - on the English card, or the Japanese one?

What do you mean, the way you see it, you can "only" use two attacks? The Japanese card - which I just quoted in English - makes it very clear that you can attack once, then once more. That's two times, yes.

No, it won't "be like Empoleon", because the Japanese Raichu lv.X I just quoted - in English - clearly says it is a Poké-Body. The Japanese Empoleon lv.X never had the Body/Power misprint. It was just an amusing misprint that happened when the English version was printed. In Japan, the misprinted English Empoleon lv.X is considered a hilarious, oddball obscurity, because they (of course) never had it in Japanese.

In my opinion, it should be a Poke-Power.
I don't care that it's a Body on the Japanese card. I think that's an error, too.

It reads like a Power. Walks like a duck, quacks like a duck...

For these reasons:
It's coming into play
It is optional (may)
It is shut off by Special Conditions.

Name one other Body that is shut off by Special Conditions!
I don't think there is one and it's always been part of my definition of a Body that it CAN'T be shut off.

IMO its just a new type of body, possibly to allow to it to get around any Power Lock.

On Pokémon Cards? I'm not sure I follow you, have you got an example (context) where this is the case?

No, but it's just basic English.

In any case, as I stated before, it doesn't considerably change the intended meaning of the card, so why even get all bent out of shape about it?

In my opinion, it should be a Poke-Power.

There hasn't been one to date.

They seem to be introducing a lot of new concepts to the game. This set added Trainers where you can play 2 at once. Next year, we'll be adding removed-from-game, Trainers you can play on your opponent's turn, and a whole bunch of other craziness with the Galactic set.

Why not a Body that acts like a Power?

I think that's exactly why it is the way it is. We have several Power locks in the current Modified format, but only one Body lock (Shuckle SW, which is useless against Raichu's particular Body unless you're also running Toxicroak to prevent the level-up from removing Poison). Raichu is a lot more powerful in the absence of something as ubiquitous as Cessation Crystal.

power lock decks arent exactly popular anymore. if they want to print more poke-bodies to get around power lock cards, theyre 4 sets too late.

Tego. I was directing that at chriscobi actually. And I meant on the english version, forgot to put the quote in quotes, was agreeing with you, and I was also just being stupid.

after using raichu x's pokebody and attacking, can you retreat for another pokemon and pass your turn? the body doesnt say you have to IMMEDIATELY attack afterward

I think that should be possible, because , like you said, it doesn't state on the card that you have to make it immediately after you used the "first" attack....
but I'm not 10000 % sure

It doesn't say that you get to anything other than do another attack.
You are still in the attack step. You don't get to go back into the main part of the turn and do other things.

I do agree with what your saying.
However , I think the only reason
it is a body is via card effects.

Things like Gengar, Alakazam, ETC.

So now only Poke-body effects mean
anything.
A body made alot like a power just
for the reasons I stated.

Of course. Could just be power as in
the power/effect of this body.

Just my imput

POP,
A coming into play Poke power is used immediatly, which is not the case with this body.
You can level up, play trainers, nrg whatever and decide when attacking of you use the body.
While if you have a coming into play power, you cannot put it in play , use trainer, nrg and than decide to use the power, you are to late.

Optional, we have Flygon EX with an optional Body.

Shut of by Special Conditions, well not all Poke Power are shut off by Special Conditions, Shuckle ftw.
Also not all Poke power are shut off by Special Conditions, so that's not a "standard".

Lia: I never said all PokePowers were shut off by SCs.
I think I've made some rulings about that.

No, I said that there are no other Bodies that are shut off.
This is a radical departure to have a body shut off by SCs!

I was just twisting it around.
It's not a rule that Power are shut off by SC, so why should this body who can be shut off by SC be a Power.

And Shuckle can shut off body's with his poison attack.
The Defending Pokemon is now Poisoned. As long as the Defending Pokemon remains Poisoned by this attack, it can't use any Poke-Body
Not that Shuckle is used much, but the "mechanic" to shut of body's with a SC is there since Secret Wonders.

raichu LVX (in english):

link lightning (body): Once during your turn, when you put Raichu LVX onto raichu and use voltage shoot, you may use another attack of raichu afterwards. this power can't be used if raichu is affected by a special condition.

his body activates when you use raichu LVXs attack voltage shoot on the turn raichu LVX is placed onto raichu. after (as i bolded) you can use one of raichu's attack. if you could voltage shoot again it would have been more "you may use any attack again from raichu or raichu LVX" or at least that is how i interpret it.

the body aint a misprint, it's just another mechanic to further convilute ... oh sorry i mean deapen  the game as a whole. its just a little more subtle than "the lost zone" so you wont notice it quite as quickly.

okaay so: play chu, use voltage shoot, then use a non-LVX attack. if you could voltage shoot again then it would have stated, the mention of raichu LVX and raichu makes that more obvious (to me anyway)

You do realize that both cards are named "Raichu"?
There is no card named "Raichu LvX".
You will never see a Level X card call itself "XXXX LvX"
