Pokémon TCG: Sword and Shield—Brilliant Stars

Rare (Unique?) Base Set Error Card

Any hints on what those specific things are so I can check it out myself? Or do you guys prefer to keep that a secret from us uninitiated folk to prevent better fake cards?

Well actually, I am almost positive PokePop has a trick or two up his sleeve that he doesn't tell anyone for that exact reason.

I figured that was going to be the answer as soon as I read the post. I would do the same thing. It's bad enough seeing people on the streets with counterfeit clothes, god forbid someone got good at it and made me buy something like that.

PokePun.. it rings a bell. Any chance you're the one on youtube? If so, I can at least vouch for him being a trusted trader . I can also say that he has a large collection of base set holos so there's a chance this one snuck in there, real or not.

Anybody who understands how the base cards were produced already knows this card is fake. I just don't want to lead you on or pacify you by telling you to meet up or send it to PSA etc. don't waste your time.

I don't understand how the base cards were produced, Gary - explain it to me like I'm five years old. What makes it beyond impossible for a non-holo to have been printed?

They get this special holo paper and put it inside a printer and the printer goes swish swish swish tick tick tick and out comes pokemon cards. It's like our printer at home!

I think what Cyrus is saying... "Gary, explain to him SPECIFICALLY how the printing process works and how it'll be impossible for a non holo to come out. Similar to the Dark Dragonite Error as in Team Rocket"

I think the information sent to the printer to print non-holo cards was actually the holo ink design, so the sheets were printed with the holo card's set numbering but on non-holo stock.

If this is true, there are more of these non-holo Base cards.

Wouldn't this mean that an entire non holo sheet of "supposedly" holo cards would have been printed due to they way the print their cards? Its possible but unlikely.

The reason this is different to the Dark Dragonite is because the Team Rocket set did contain a non-holo Dark Dragonite.

Since the design process of the cards would include what the cards look like, rather than including details such as are the cards holo, this error almost certainly occured by someone copy and pasting the design from the holo sheet template to the non holo sheet template and forgetting to change the number. The Dragonite was always intended for it to be on the sheet, just a small detail was unchanged.

The Magneton did not have a non-holo version, so in order for this error to be real, someone would have had to create an entirely new sheet template for non-holo cards, or replace one of the existing non-holos with Magneton.

Dark Dragonite could have got through quality checks, because the number is something that is hard to notice unless you are actually looking closely, so if someone was comparing what the cards should be to what they look like, it's easy enough to slip through. If a sheet suddenly had Magnetons instead of Beedrills, people would notice.

The only other option would be if a full sheet that was supposed to be holo, was printed non-holo instead. If this was the case, there would be 110 of these errors, and some would almost certainly have popped up by now.

So, you can understand our skepticism.

Not saying impossible, not without seeing the card.
Just incredibly unlikely.

Even though I'm upset at dj/Daniel for not contacting me like a man before jumping to conclusions and almost getting me suspended from the gym, he is right about this.
After 14 years, one of these 110 cards would have surfaced if a non holo sheet was printed with card numbers 1-16. For those of us around back then, this mistake would not have gone unnoticed.

Gary, you know that Dan is told what to moderate right? Someone tells him what to do and he has to do it since he is the mod for this thread. For example, I received a warning once for posting a link to the UPCCC. This could not of been anymore ironic since Dan and I started that site.

On topic, I think everyone has the same opinion that the card is not real or not legitimately produced. I always use this plain and simple phrase I got from a sports card collector when something seems odd and I am considering purchasing it, "when in doubt, don't".

Instead of sending it to PSA, you should burn it.. Everyone should burn any fake cards to reduce the spread!

Now that is hilarious Scott:lol:
In my case he gave me 9 demerits for profanity that came out with 5 asteriks then a 'd' which made it look like I used the f word ending in ed. That really made me look bad cause I don't and never have used a cuss word. Many in my generation didn't. A cuss word wouldn't even had fit in that sentence which he should have noticed.
With pokemoms help we figured out what I had really wrote. It was akin to punk and punked...like if I said someone was a punk or if I said someone GOT punked ie; Ashton Kutcher.
That's what happened to me. Had Dan asked me for an explanation this never would have happened. He really should have known me better than that.
Then I asked him or pokepop to remove the infractions...but nothing. Dan not correcting this makes me think he wants me only on upccc...which might happen lol.

Now back on topic:confused: I really object to these counterfeit cards being advertised here. Like what happened with Julian and the fake stamp Raichu, being here could add some legitimacy to the fake card and cost one of our brothers or sisters some money.

Amen brother. Because the scams do spread.

I agree. Whenever that hitmonchan/kangaskhan card appeared i doubted it from the beginning. It bothered me how he made the gullible believe it was real.

Where you referring to football julian on ebay? Was he involved with the Raichu? I noticed his account was suspended and wondered what happened.

Gary: First, you already have a topic for discussing your personal issue. Please don't take this thread off topic (check the forum rules on that so you won't be caught by surprise if we have to enforce that rule...)
Second, NO ONE is thinking you typed a word that started with F.
SD-Pokemon defined pretty well what word you DID type.
I had thought you had realized after that they you DID type that word.
NO ONE, especially Dan, made any assumptions about what you DID.
You DID it.
You got the appropriate infraction for what you DID.
If you have any further questions about what you DID, email me.

I'm afraid so Scott. He's worked so hard and is a terrific guy. He's been buying huge lots from me for many years and is a credit to the pokemon community. Just makes me feel awful.

Pokepop...I totally didn't deserve anything but an apology. IMHO. I used no profanity and certainly spoke poorly of no individual. Yes, I referred to media factory's excessive marketing but I said it in a positive way commending them as fellow capitalists;)
