Pokémon TCG: Sword and Shield—Brilliant Stars

Resolved: Pokemon should replace cash scholarships with fitness equipment.

I agree BMI is a very poor indicator. From memory your hip to waist ratio is a much better indicator of body fat levels. But at least in the UK it is only the poor BMI that is well known by the fitness and health industry.

A quick googling says it's better than BMI but inferior to other means.

Off-topic: a 0.7 WHR on women appears to be a universal beauty norm (from frontal profiles).

Oh... Well, I would still take the fitness stuff anyways.

Also not to be rude or anything but just look at the pictures on the top gallary of the gym.

Jay, while I'd be in support of that because it's beneficial to myself, I feel like that is a bad idea because it's a tricky line of defining what is acceptably fit and what isn't, and justifying it to people who get cut off at the border.

Also then, what if someone makes the argument that not only are they fit but they, say, volunteer at a local school helping at-risk kids have supervised exercise time after school? They're fit and making others fit, should they start with four?

And what if Husain Bolt decides to play? Do you just tell his opponents to scoop and consider themselves lucky to have witnessed greatness? (I was going to use Michael Phelps as my example, but I think after his Life Herb flips he shouldn't be a public face of PUI).

Well what if there was like a requirement to enter tournaments like being able to run an 8 min mile? (a very average time)

But the issue is that we want all the Snorlax's and Munchlax's to play, and be introduced to new healthy options. So excluding them from OP (where they could win materials and equipment to lead a healthy lifestyle) seems to go against the intention of this resolution.

Although it would be a RIOT to see people running a mile up to deck-check while being clocked.

What if TCPi started hosting runs and maybe even a marathon? This way people don't have to enter but would be motivated to run because the prize is something great.

There could be a prize at set time limits. Let's say that they arehosting a mile long run. Anyone who can run it under 6 minutes gets a Luxray level X. Under 6:30 a Gengar level X. If they would do'something like this then people would be motivated to run.

What about those of us in shape start with 5 prize cards?

Or standings and pairings are posted 1/4 mile away from the tables. Give some bite to the late penalty and stop all those nasty end of round overruns when players are tied.

I am surprised this thread hasn't caused any great offense to anyone yet, perhaps it has and it just hasn't been voiced. I was once 'fat' I lost my weight through starvation, forced vomiting and tears of loneliness and now I am thin, all of this because of people making fun of me.

Though I'm only thin on the scale, the mirror still screams in silent mockery to me 'fatty fat fat!' my fatness caused me to be osterchised from peers this in turn made me schizophrenic in order to compensate for a lack of social life.

It wasn't until I became a member of the Pokegym did I start to branch out the process of all of this is hard and painful and now a thread like this comes along and reminds me of all the nightmares I had to go through.

@amphy#1 use better and more appropriate terms when discussing feelings of humor. If being humored turns you on then discuss it elsewhere not here where the majority of the members of this site are under 18.

Cigaretts? Really? You know that many of the players in Pokemon are under the age of 18 and that would be having PUI/POP promoting illegal acitivity. The concern of this thread is not to make people thin but healthy I'm thin for 6ft1/2in (138 lbs) but I wouldn't be considered healthy just as smoking wouldn't be considered healthy regardless of the weight loss benifits.

Get off the computer and on the treadmill, sheesh. But in all seriousness, this isn't about criticizing people for their weight. It's about illustrating negative habits and offering mental, physical, moral, and financial support for changing them!

If I wanted to mock the overweight I'd pay a script kiddy to redirect the home page to thisiswhyyourefat.com or something like that.

And the only thing I smoke is fools like you in the Pokemon card game.

Prodigal fanboy get a better computer or your eyes checked, I posted just above your post that I acknowledge this thread is to promote health amongst players.

I am not allowed to play Pokemon TCG, court order for card games resulting in loss of home friends and family. Granted it was for poker and bridge gambling but the court issued restraint on all manner of card games that includes Pokemon for me.

Not sure about that. For the majority of such people, its just easier to change the card game instead of their lifestyle. You can offer so many things, but if the change comes from the inside to the outside level, then it might work.

@Bohn perhaps there could be a mutual agreement of changing lifestyle and the game itself, by adding excersise routines to the command effects of the cards themselves, simple example 'this card does 10 damage to opponent's pokemon + opponent must perform 10 pushups'. Granted we will have to remove the time constraints and will have to host events at least 3 months prior than before.

You can't use any Pokemon in your deck that weighs less than you. All Luxchomp players would really have to work on that one.
