You said "The scarcity", and spoke in terms of a single metagame, implying that you were talking about the US metagame, where it's rare, rather than using words like "The proliference", or speaking in terms of multiple metagames, which would've implied that you meant the metagames of the rest of the world.

Oh please, as if I would be degrading my own countrie's playing abilities and praising those of the foreigners.

maybe other countries will have a version of mercury we wont have thought of, and will rock worlds
or maybe they will be thrashed

lol, I <3 PSYCO.

Seriosuly, back on topic, apparantly the Japanese flirted with Shiftry for a while, but then he died when power based decks died. He (along with Cessation Crystal) killed power based decks (Gardy d ex too) and then decks became body based. It may not happen in the US because we are so stubborn(Dragtrode at Nats?!) but he'll either stop the powers or be a force standing against them.

sorry i know ever ones missed me lots of work. and shiftry owns every one muhahahahaha but seriously the shiftry's not just gunna be sitting active waiting to be hit by riaeggs or flariados so just bow to the tree he's gunna own all those powers and body's and everything next 2 years. GG
 
yeah but eeven boyond the body hes got 2 nice attacks to make him competatvive even if powers do see less play. and only 1 stadiums hurts him really. i think the next format is gunna be shiftry or decks that can out speed/power shiftry. am i saying i want his power errated? no, do i think its over powered for an ex? no.
 
Shiftry ex is a good card, yes, but there are quite a few things that can take him out. Ludi decks can play BF, UF 'Cargo, and something that provides :fighting: Energy. Flariados, Delta Eggs variants, Lunarock, and Dustox/Muk all exploit its Weaknesses. Tyability can simply blow it up. OTOH, I do think that Shiftry ex might force some decks out of the format (Metanite, Flymence/Sallygross, possibly Banette ex).

All things considered, Shiftry ex might not dominate next year's game, but it will certainly be a force to be reckoned with.

Argh, there are a ton of cards that take a ton of cards out. Dustox/Muk? SHIFTRY IS NOT ACTIVE!!!! People said tons of stuff could take pidgeot out, he rocked. Would you put Pidgeot active without good reason? NO!!!! His weakness is really not that important because you have to reversal him active anyway. He will not be active. I think the metagame will shift in fear of him, but he won't dominate. Shut down is not always an uber strong deck. I think he will change the Meta though.

Yeah, but Shiftry has better attacks than Pidgeot. Sometimes Shiftry will remain benched, and sometimes it's better to set him Active. It all depends on the opponent.

Bear in mind that some Dustox/Muk decks will probably run Reversal to take care of Shiftry.

Dust/Muk doesn't matter, many Shiftry lists I've seen shut down bodies too. Dust/Muk is super eff. but that is the only realy constest there.

Almost 95% of the most talked about cards and decks run power galore.
It probably wont break the format, but Shiftry's gonna be a force to be reckon with.

BF is an obstacle.

I wonder why it took me an entire year to truly appreciate Houndoom. My bro plays a deck with him and it is like an auto-loss for so many matchups.

Houndoom w/ Shiftry or locking in BF against him?
