Sleeve Clarification

Thats funny because I went to states tournament and was 4-1 on the bubble in the last round and my opponenet had 2 different colors of sleeves. A dark black and lighter black that you could only tell by looking at them, I caught them because they hit the light for a second. I called a judge over and after repeating the phrase "I don't want to give a game loss" issued a prize pently instead and let my opponenet keep drawing off his PONT. He proceeded to go Rare Candy, Tyranitar Prime, Expert Belt, DCE. ...I Some how still won that.

I think its a fine line between warning and game loss.

Yes, it often depends on the intent, whether it's noticeable or not really, how it's going in the tournament, etc. Not only that, but if the marked sleeves are actually in a pattern, but if 30 sleeves are on random cards and 30 other sleeves slightly off are on random cards as well, you're not gonna be able to really be cheating. Each situation is unique, and it's judge's discretion each time. So it's really hard to just give you a definite penalty for a certain situation, without knowing every single fact (and often people don't describe every single fact, whether on purpose or not)

at Midwest Regionals for Indiana they offered the Ho-Oh HGSS prerelease sleeves to people who needed to resleeve, that was pretty cool of them I thought.

I agree with you I'm not saying my opponent was cheating I still think it should have been a game loss.

1.) At a States level tournament having two different colored sleeves expecially at a bubble match is unacceptable intentinal or not.
2.) I would have felt better if the judge checked to see what cards were marked he just made the comment about half were.

For the record, for a Game Loss or DQ - intent is NOT a part of the equation.

If you "accidently" have 10 cards in sleeves that are different or marked (and note folks who buy 50 pack sleeves...), and there is a pattern to the markings (all level Xs, all key supporters, all tech cards), then you are definitely facing a DQ or GL whether or not you meant to mark you cards or not.

Intention does not control in tihs situation. Otherwise, let's be real, noone would "mean" to do it.

I really doubt a lot of people are marking their cards, sleeves, decks, but a few bad apples causes us to hunt the rest of you like witches.

are the following still legal or not (I do not have pics but I can tell you were they came from)

Organized Play Garchomp Art Standard Sized 60 ct Sleeves (Organized Play) (Supreme Vict

Organized Play Giratina Pokemon Art Standard Sized 60 ct Sleeves (Organized Play) (Platinum Prerelease)

I order these last night from Troll and toads and I need to know before they are shipped if the will still be legal for the Battle Roads or not

I did not know if they were amoung the officials that are not legal. I know someone say some official Pokemon sleeves are not legal and a few events back I had just open up some sleeves I had goten before and were told they were not legal and they were official ones from a Pre-release

All sleeves from prereleases are legal!

Report anyone who tells you otherwise!

The only illegal Pokemon sleeves are ones where the art reaches the edge of the card. AFAIK, that only includes the three Ultra Pro sleeves sold about half a decade ago and the Starter Sprite sleeves, though there might be (and probably are) more.

This rule has been around for a couple of years. Why do people STILL get it wrong?

The Diamond/Pearl Lucario ones let you see the card back through the translucent-white silhouette , but I suppose that isn't an issue anymore since we cant use Japanese (or other foreign cards) here.

Seeing the different Pokeball rotation in the middle of Lucario is an easy giveaway if you had foreign cards in the deck.

AFAIK that was the only sleeve set to have a White silhouette like that.

Those aren't the only illegal pokemon sleeves. The walking starters are not legal either.

Those were legal as long as you didn't have foreign cards in your deck.
And since foreign cards are no longer legal, there should be no reason to not allow those ones.

They are legal until the first time you shuffle your deck. Seriously, at states I re-sleeved my deck and used a pack of sleeves from a Celebration, brand new. In top cut, I had to start changing sleeves in between games because they got so ripped. Glad I had spare sleeves.

Prerelease/Celebration sleeves might be legal, but I will never use them in any premier rating event ever again. They get marked way too fast (some are not even usable after shuffling 20-30 times) and it is not worth risking a DQ over. It is really sad that P!P gives away sleeves that put players in a situation where they might be mistaken for cheating just by utilizing the sleeves.
