Torterra has several problems facing it.
1) Speed. Always been an issue, always will be.
2) Adding another line to a deck that is 20+ pokemon already is not goin to help consistancy at all.
3) New torterra vs. MD torterra vs. SF torterra vs. DP torterra. With the possiblity of 200 hp, the healing one could see alot more day and become a pretty cool swarm deck. But what do you do? 5 Torterras=no fun deciding which one(s) to run.
4) While forest murmurs is one of the best powers in the game atm (and definatley underrated), theres alot of ways to prevent what it does now. What I mean is that the power can be cancelled, decks run many more switching cards now (one of my favorite tactics is doin the switch/stall thing), 140 hp isn't an extreeme number anymore, and space is tight. All this means that getting out multiple torterra lvl Xs is very hard to do consistantly, and with ways around the power, it has limited usage compared to before.
5) Dialgia. No ifs ands or buts about it. He hurts torterra and getting 4 energy on a torterra is not a fun thing to think about.
1. I agree that speed is an issue, although the SF Torterra slightly assists in this department. Once Torterra gets going, however, it has a definite advantage over most decks, and Forest Murmurs can help reverse an early-game deficit.
2. I was thinking more along the lines of 1-1 Shaymin, which wouldn't be so hard to fit in without disrupting consistency. For what it does, I think it's worth it.
3. This is more of a pro than a con. Having more options is never a bad thing; there is no link between "increased options" and "issues." On the contrary, it allows for better metagaming, increased versatility, etc..
4. There have always been ways to shut Powers down. Forest Murmurs isn't something to rely on, but it can still be incredibly useful, and having it built in to the deck as an option is very nice. When it isn't disabled, it can be game-changing, and that was my original point.
5. Forest Murmurs takes care of Dialga, as I mentioned in my original post. MD Torterra and SF Torterra both do 60 for 2, two-shotting it, and the Platinum Torterra does at least 70 for 3, also two-shotting it.
I'm not saying it's the best deck choice for states, and I acknowledge it does have some issues (like literally every other deck), but it's still very solid in my opinion.
