Yamato.

Just remember on the Yamato bashing, Japan has a completely different format as in whats played. His Ludicolo was built for a Japan metagame, he even mentioned this to me.

I don't have the numbers for 11-14 and 10-. And I thought we were talking about 15+ only.

If we're talking about 11-14 and 10-, Curran H and Stewart B need mention. Both won a Regionals, US Nationals and Worlds (all in the same year). And Stewarts OP Rating was 133 points higher than ANYONE in ANY age division last year. That's pretty darn impressive.

I suggest we keep this to the 15+ for the most part, because comparing people accross age divisions doesn't work very well.

And how many player have done that?

who's the other
time for my t16 apperence this year =D....Actully, no Canadian has t16 in 15+ yet....no wonder everyone thinks we suck lol

I can't speak outside the Midwest, but this is with out a doubt the year of Ness. He has dominated some of the best competion around. He NEVER misses a cut, and has won 6 or 7 premier events. As for consistency, Jimmy Ballard has had a really nice year playing in only premier events and garnering a 1926 rating. Seena seems to win every big event he plays in, but has only played one this year - not enough.

To me my bro is good, but if I had to choose who I think is the best, I'd go with Ness because oh his skills and the way he plays. He's awesome. The same goes for Seena and Fulop.

You guys just don't realize the level Yamato plays at. He has more talanet than SO many of you.

I know some of you guys think some of us blow his horn too much- all i can say is what
i watch for about 8 hours at last years marathon was the BEST playing i have ever witnessed. Period!
He took on everyone- and lost maybe 3 times in close to 8 hours- AWESOME stuff.

Ness's arrogance make him difficult to deal with at times, but there is NO denying his knowledge or ability
on how to play Pokemon. Since his "return" he has picked up where he left off. And he won TMB for GOD'S sake people. I wonder if some of you can even grasp just how HUGE of an accomplishment this is.

And Seena is the best "part time" player in the game. Shows up at big events and wins them- and has been since the beginning. I'll tell you this, some of my kid's best accomplishments have come at Seena's expense- and when you beat a player as great as him to win something of importance it just matters that much more ( to Steve anyways).

And thanks Jim- Steve did have one amazing run in 11-14 :) Too bad for birthdays lol

As for Bobby- the best is yet to come :)- what is he , like 12 or something :)

Ignorance of the metagame is no excuse for playing a poorly-designed deck. He got lucky with his pairings, simple as that. 24.6% of the known field was either Medicham or Rock lock (both autolosses for a Ludicolo without the Heal Ludi, Battle Frontier, or Rhydon) and he didn't play a single one all day long. What a joke. Then you get the US players running Medicham and Rock Lock either getting paired against one another or getting terrible matchups for the Chams like Dark Steelix while Yamato gets joke pairings and skates by.

For the record, a lot of the people in contention (Seena, Chuck, Jason) wern't playing Pokemon during the 2004 season and thus were not at Worlds 2004. So you really can't say that they're inferior because they didn't make T8 back-to-back years. Additionally, I hear Yamato didn't even qualify for Worlds this year.

You should talk to some 11-14s and see what they think about that statment....
It would be a North Carolinian because all I know is that if you make Top 8 you have no garauntee to know you will advance especially if you get paired with(Curran, Ellisa, Tatiana, Hunter, Bobby, etc.). We have big competition in the NC(especially Curran who just joined our age this year and is trying to own the place so that is what I think).

I think I'd have to put Seena as the best player, just because he has made 3 new decks that went into big tournaments and just crushed the competition (Muk, Medicham, Mewtrick). That's pretty impressive.

I guess I'd put Ness second, he seems like he is an amazing player, though I haven't had the chance to ever play vs him or really discuss much strategy with him. I also don't know that he's created many original decks, which makes me give Seena the nod over him.

Third best? I'd like to think that I may be third best. ;D I know I haven't won as much as Seena and Ness, but that's due to pretty bad luck. I've made Nidoqueen, le MeTro, and from last season Spinning Tail T-tar w/ Fossils and Great Balls (which led to the Jirachi DX/Swoop engine).

15+ Yamato or Ness

11-14 Dan R.(Keeps getting at least top 8 at every worlds since 2002)

10- Not a clue

I have to disagree with you on that one - I built that deck before anyone.
Ask anyone in Florida.
I hate to be disagreeable but let's face it - I don't have that many accomplishments as far as deck building goes so I'd like to be recognized for the one I do have...lol

did you build it last season?
Um, yes...that would kinda be the POINT of my comment...

and went on to win a CC and a State undefeated? I didn't think so.
Alright, fine - steal my glory. I don't really care, I know that for once in my Pokémon career I actually did something original :-\

I suppose I should just keep my mouth shut and know my place...
I suppose I should know better than to try and play with the big boys...
Mesa so sorry!!!!

I bow down to the greatness of the elite few to be mentioned in this discussion! In fact, its stupid for me to even think I could ever be worthy of competiting with such brilliance!

Oh, and I admit and attest that I have never created any deck in the past and have never created any deck in the future.

Plaid: Jason invented Medicham. Me, Moss, and Seena were all playing Rock-Lock the night before nats, and Jasons dominance over Seena with the deck made Seena switch at the last minute. SEENA WON NATS BECAUSE OF JASON!

15+: Without having actually seen Yamato play, I'd have to say a tie b/w Yamato and Ness.

11-14: Jeff V (Ice Cold's playing bro). If the other V played more often, he'd probably better than Jeff, but it's hard to argue with 3 for 3 championships for Jeff (1 City, 1 State, 1 Regional)

10-: Either James B or Andrew K. I still haven't seen them play each other, but James has 3 different Regionals Trophies (and he beats me almost whenever we play).

Oh I didn't know that. When Seena was on my team for a short while, he had been trying to decide if Muk or Medicham was better. I just assumed he came up with the idea of using Medicham, I didn't know Ness came up with the idea. Major props to Ness for that, so I guess in my eyes it's a tie for first. :O

I'm sorry I did go over the line, if you came up with somethng like that, major props cause it was definately a very good deck, the best actually before RL came out to the public.

I really could not argue who is the best player as I have been in the game for only 3 years. Accomplishments wise it'd be Ness. For this season I think its a tie between Seena and Ness. I don't think anyone can top Adam in deckbuilding skills or skill, he's just missing that luck factor. And I also consider myself one of the best right now, seeing as how I did not win Worlds 2005 on a technicality, and have been a consistant placer at almost every event I go to. granted I cannot attend anymore this season, with my 3rd, 2*2nd and 1st at CC's, + 27-0 at States is no easy feat, and if I were still ablke to play, I really had high expectations of my Regionals showing I had planned for San Diego, and then my other tournament Worlds '06.

I'll just have to wait patiently until the next season starts to prove I was not a fluke at Worlds 2005.

I think that this is a very interesting post, but I'm very worried that it will degenerate into mindless bickering about who is better than who.

With that said, it's really tough to judge a best player. Of all of the players that I've faced off against, Yamato, Alex Brosseau, and Matt Moss are probably the most impressive. Moss probably outskills the former two if he's in his zone. You can also make a really good case for Jason Klaczynski too.

As far as tournament performance, well...two regional wins and a 2nd at worlds. HAS to go to Fulop. For all-time performance, Jason Klaczynski (or Yamato if we had a better list of what tournaments he's done well in).

The BEST deckbuilder of all time HAS to go to Scott Gerdhardt. When the entire Pokemon world netdecks you and ONLY you for years, you know that you've succeeded somewhere! :D

OK, let's drop the dinosaur...Gerhardt was good in his day...but he was in the game before the glory days of PUI.

Seena - Ness - Yamato consistantly placing high in the toughest division.

The younger divisions are only from my personal experience....

Jeff V. Dylan L. Curran H.

3 dominating players - Curran will be very interesting...placing high as an 11 year old.

10- There are very few names that go in this conversation.

James B. Andrew K. Dale L. Dave R.

Any of these 4 make ALL their competitors shutter when they walk through the door. Any of these 4 could pop off Nationals Or Worlds (OK, except for those that are aging up)

James is a beast - 3 Regionals trophies AS CALCULATED - concessions, not losses!

Andrew - back to back top cuts at worlds, top 3 at Nationals, Stadium and Regional champion

Dale L. - back to back top cuts at Worlds, Regional Champion, much more

Dave R. - I know the least about him...great young player (man, I hope I haven't messed up his name)

Regional champion, Regionals T4, great playa.

Here we go kiddies!
