The new tins were even more fail than I expected

Here's some advice: If you're not a collector, don't buy it. :|

I bought the Suicune and Raikou tins last weekend. Awesome cards! :thumb: Not only were the promos cool looking, but I pulled a Base set Charmeleon reprint. :thumb:

Entei tins are the best.

I pulled Gengar Lv. X, Reprint Charmander, Donphan Prime, and Alph Lithograph UD.
probably the greatest tin i've ever opened. other than my Garchomp C tin which was filled with epicness.

Wow, you are so lucky. Like, unbelievably lucky. Four super-rare cards in four packs? I am so envious.

The tins are now in stores. I personally have seen them at Target & Toys R Us.
Did not look at Walmart, cause I usually don't shop there very often.

BTW there is also another "promo" pack at Target that is similar to the Toys R Us one.

It comes with one starter (the one I looked at was Glaceon) 2 boosters, and a Raichu promo (not sure if it is the same one from the trainer kit). I think the price was $17.99.

So the only difference is the Toys R Us one had one more booster (and a different promo card in Magmortar).

BTW the local Toys R Us store was having a "Buy 2 get 1 free" thing on all Pokemon cards. Tins, Promo packs, Starters, and even boosters. Of course they are all pretty close to MSRP prices so it could get kind of spendy.

Boyfriend bought me a Raikou tin.

Not only am I impressed with the promo as a collector I got...an ok haul from the packs. (I have no luck so pulling a holo SF Regigigas took me off gaurd. Lol.)

My league owner sells the new tins for 18.99. It is -not- worth it. Which really doesn't make sense, because he's still selling GCX tins for 12.99.

I don't know the ones i've seen with AR Charizard, and Garchomp from SV( Not the LV X's rather the stage 2 versions.) Are pretty boss. If I had money I'd buy 4 of each

There aren't any tins like that made by Nintendo. Sounds like the ones you saw are fake.

As a collector, I love the tins. And maybe it's just coincidence, but I seem to get some pretty good cards from the packs. Reverse holo Pokemon Communication, reverse holo UD Vileplume, reverse holo SF Gyarados, a Spiritomb, and a couple Luxury Balls that I can hand out to new players.

Nope they aren't fake. The charizard came with a Pl,RR,And SV Booster. Picked it up at Walgreens around the corner from my place.Only one they had left was Garchomp. If I had a Scanner I'd put up the card . It has the Same Foil effect like the Umbreon and Espeon Foils in Starters.

Granted the Tins themselves are the same as the Lv X tins so who knows.
Maybe stores returned the tins that didn't sell and they just recycled them. All they had to do was crack it and change the Foil in front.

Okay, I'm taking what I've heard from friends in the US for this post, so it may not be 100% dead on the numbers.

Booster packs are $3.79 MSRP, can be anywhere from $3.25 - $4.00.
Tins I think are $12.99 MSRP, can be like $11 - $13.

Now let's assume the boosters cost the lowest possible $3.25. This means that 4 boosters cost $13.

Now a tin can be between $11 and $13.

Now minus the cost of the boosters.

The value of the tin and the 2 promos is anywhere between $-2 and $0.

Worst case senario, you are getting these for free.
Best case senario, you are effectivly being paid $2 to take them (or more if packs cost more in your area).

Now, you may not immediatly see the benefits of this free stuff, saying things such as, why couldn't we have better tin promos (imagine if they took away tins, no free stuff AT ALL). Now you have this terrible hardship of owning these promos which may make you ill to look at or may strangle your pets in the night, or whatever it is you have against them.

You know what to do? eBay them. Selling both promos can probably pull in at least $5. So now worst case senario you now paid $6-8 for 4 boosters. Not bad IMO.

So next time you complain about how abd the things are which you get FOR FREE, just imagine if they took tins away completely. No promos at all and full price booster.

A tin between 11 and 13$ USD!?
In Northern California (Bay Area) you get them cheapest 14.89$ USD
The packs at cheapest here are 3.72$ USD if you're lucky. Usually they're 3.99$ USD
If you bought 4 packs it would be 14.88$ USD , sure you get a snazzy cool looking tin and two free cards but I'd much rather buy 4 packs of Stormfront, Rising Rivals, Platinum, Legends Awakened or Supreme Victors then any of the HG/SS series packs (Unless they were Triumphant :)lol:) or base set HG/SS).

I guess it really just comes down to personal preference and the prices in your area I guess.

Someone at my league bought a Entei tin yesterday, and pulled:

Scizor Prime
Holographic Sceptile
Holographic Dusknoir
Ho-oh Legend

The Entei tins ARE lucky!
Well, maybe not...I pulled nothing but junk in MY Entei tin...

$4 USish for booster packs?

Ha. We have to pay about $5 Canadian for a pack here.

And $5.68 CAD at Gamezilla or $6.12 at a NB Wal-Mart -_-;;

$5 from a local dealer that if you buy 10 or more packs, he'll take $1 off the price, per pack so 10 for $40 and $4 each after the 10th.

4.28 (including tax) for a pack
14.99 (not including tax) for a tin

Toys R' Us sold tins for ten $ on black friday
bought four garchomp tins
2 'quaza
2 shaymin
1 dialga
1 charizard
2 giratina

it was epic

i pulled palkia g x, dialga g x and like all the sp engine

Wow. I didn't think there were people who played back east. Maybe I should have probably gone out of Winsor when we visited. xD

That's just nuts.

There's a place that sells 6.25 for a pack of cards just because it's the only place in the area that sells them. And people buy. Arugh.

I picked up the Entei & Suicune ones recently. The Entei was not that great for what I got in the packs.
The Suicune one on the other hand had both a Typhlosion Prime & upper half of Deoxys/Rayquaza.
Will probably get the Raikou pretty soon. Also spotted the Metagross box that some people mentioned
coming with older packs (both were not playable in tournaments).
