Happy Day! Next chapter here! The updated info on Jessica should be up really soon. Here we go...
Chapter Five
Silph Co.-Saffron City-Johto Region
Tyler’s Father sighed as he flopped into his chair. He had almost had to talk to one of the other workers on the way to his cubicle. If he had been stopped by someone, he was sure he would have embarrassed himself in some way. He turned his computer on and flopped the newspaper on his desk. It had headlines such as: “Nevanown supposedly sighted” and “Increasing acts of thievery and violence: a new gang group?” Tyler’s father sighed again as he skimmed the front page. At least he was away from the other employees.
“Hey Greg!”
Tyler’s father jumped, almost tipping the chair over, and looked around. Standing in the doorway was a woman of medium height and had brown hair and eyes. “There goes my chance to be alone,” He thought.
“Don’t scare me like that, Danielle!” he said. He was sure that he had almost had a heart attack. It was almost as bad as when Tyler did to him.
“Oh don’t be so tightly wound. You wouldn’t get frightened as easily,” Danielle said as she came in and sat on the edge of Greg’s desk, “You seem even more tense and nervous than usual. What’s going on?” Danielle was one of Greg’s only friends. He had met her twenty-three years earlier when Team Rocket, a dangerous crime group, had taken over Silph Co. and trapped everyone inside the building. She had stood next to him as he almost fainted, he was so scared. She was also the voice of normality that helped him in all situations that involved other people.
“It’s Tyler,” Greg said sighing again.
“What’s wrong? Is he sick or hurt?” she asked, putting her hand on his shoulder.
“No, he’s in a completely region!” Greg said throwing his arms up.
“What!” Danielle said shocked, “You let him go!”
“Yes,” he said grudgingly.
“I am so proud of you!” she exclaimed, giving him a hug, “I can’t believe you did it! This is exactly what I mean when I say you should be looser. So where is he?”
“Somewhere in the Sinnoh Region,” he said sighing once again. “I have really been sighing a lot this morning,” he thought.
There was a pause, and then she said gently, “I’m sure he’s fine.”
Route 204 to Floraroma Town- Sinnoh Region
“Porygon use Signal Beam!” Tyler shouted.
“Use Iron Defense, Clampearl!” Jessica yelled back.
Porygon released a multicolored beam of energy that hit Clampearl, but did little damage. Clampearl then opened its shell and shot a stream of water at Porygon. Porygon falls back as the attack hit him, and then rushed forward toward the mollusk.
“Now use Psybeam!” Tyler commanded. Porygon complied and hit Clampearl before it could shut its shell again. Clampearl flipped backwards from the attack and then shut its shell, waiting for its next orders.
“You can do this Clampearl! Use your Clamp attack!” Jessica said to her Pokemon. The clam hopped forward and shut its shell on Porygon as though it was trying to bite its enemy in half. The extra weight dragged Porygon to the ground from its levitating position.
“Get rid of it Porygon! Use Agility!” Tyler yelled. He could see that if Porygon didn’t get rid of Clampearl soon, it would faint it right there. Porygon sluggishly spun a circle and then started zooming across the battlefield, going random directions and turning sharply. Unfortunately, it was not enough to get rid of the opponent and Porygon fell back to the ground, defeated.
“Ha! I win!” Jessica said, returning her Pokemon. After his loss at the Gym in Canalave, Tyler wanted to work on his battle strategy. Unfortunately, it wasn’t going well, “So what is the score now? 10 – 0 or something?”
“Yeah, so what,” Tyler said grumpily, returning his own fainted Pokemon.
“Hey, at least your getting closer to beating me! Even if you never do, it’s still good experience for your Pokemon.”
“Yeah, whatever,” Tyler said, picking up his pack and heading back out onto the path.
Any further encouragement from Jessica was drowned as a screech of terror filled the air. Tyler and Jessica glanced at each other and ran to the other side of the path and into the trees beyond. They stopped behind a wall of vegetation from where the sounds of a struggle were coming from. They both crept forward and peeked through the leaves and branches and saw two Pokemon struggling on the ground. One of them was a small blue Pokemon that looked a lot like a lion cub. The other was a big grayish-brown bug Pokemon with two huge spiked pinchers on the top of its head. The strange thing was that the bug Pokemon had a net and was trying to throw it over the blue Pokemon.
Tyler put a hand on Scyther’s Pokeball, but Jessica’s hand came down and stopped him from throwing it. Tyler threw her a puzzled looked and motioned with her head to a man standing close to the Pokemon. He was dressed in black pants and shirt, white gloves and boots, and a black hat. On the front of his shirt was a large Red “R”. Tyler was sure he had seen something like that uniform in one of his History classes, but he really didn’t like the subject, so he had never paid that much attention.
By this time, the bug Pokemon had successfully trapped the smaller Pokemon in the net and held it up for the man to see.
“Good job, Pinsir!” The man said walking over and taking the net from his Pokemon, “One more pitiful Pokemon for those scientists to experiment on.” He looked around and then said, “Come on; let’s get back to the others.” With that, he turned and walked away, his Pokemon following.
“Let’s following them,” Jessica whispered inching forward in the bushes.
“Who is that guy?” Tyler said, following Jessica as she crept after the man and Pokemon.
“I don’t know, but I plan on finding out,” she said. They followed the man, never losing sight of him but never being seen. The man and his Pokemon crashed through the foliage loud enough that Jessica and Tyler didn’t have to be overly careful about how loud they were. Soon the man left the woods and went into a large clearing. Tyler gasped as he saw the clearing.
There were about ten men dressed the same way that the man with the Pincer was. There was also an open topped moving truck covered with hundreds of cages. In almost every cage, there was some random Pokemon. A couple of men were struggling to lift the unconscious form of a blue and black Pokemon that looked a lot like the cub held by the man they followed. In the middle of it all, there was a man that was ordering the others around. He was wearing a black shirt with white sleeves that disappeared under his black gloves. His pants were black and had Red R’s down the sides. His boots were white and he also had Red A’s at the top of each of his sleeves’ by the shoulder. He wore no hat and had brown hair cropped short.
Standing beside him was a Pokemon that looked very similar to the Pokemon called Pinsir. It was slightly larger and was a black instead of brown. The giant pinchers on its head had changed to look like a pair of jaws with large horns pointing at the other half of the jaw. When opened, they could see that the jaws were lined with teeth. It was obviously its mouth. The creature’s eyes glared at anyone who got near to the man.
“That man must be the one in charge,” Tyler whispered.
“Thank you Captain Obvious,” whispered Jessica, “Come on.” With that she backed up away from the clearing so they would not be overheard. “All right, this is what we’re going to do…”
Admin. Andrew was not pleased. Not only had they not found many different breeds of Pokemon, they had only found one that was even above fifteen. He knew this wasn’t go over overly well with the Boss.
He shivered at the thought and shifted his mind from such depressing matters. He looked over to see some idiot putting a overly small Shinx cub into an extra-large cage.
“Hey Tauros Droppings!” he yelled at the man, who jumped around to attention, dropping the Shinx in the process. He then proceeded to fall to the ground, trying to grab it. The blue Pokemon though, was too fast for him and ran in Andrew’s direction. Andrew snapped his fingers and his Pokemon moved forward and grabbed the Pokemon, which squirmed and tried to free itself from the shelled hand that held it. His Pokemon, Creadle, held the Pokemon above its jaws and snapped them closed, shearing off the fur from the top of the Shinx’s head. The Shinx instantly went still, except for the tremors of fear that wracked its small body.
The Admin. smiled. Fear, in his opinion, was the best influence for anyone of thing. It helped one to get things done much easier. Creadle then proceeded to walk over to the truck and flung the poor creature into a small cage.
Andrew turned back to the man who was still on the ground. His eyes were wide with fear. “I have something to tell you, Grunt,” Andrew said to the man, who flinched when he started speaking, “Small Pokemon go in small cages. Large Pokemon go in large cages. And also, never drop the merchandise.” With that, the Adamant snapped his fingers again and Creadle grabbed the back of the man’s shirt and dragged him over to the van.
“Wait! What are doing?” the grunt screamed as Adamant Andrew turned his back to the Van. The man kept blubbering even after Andrew heard the cage door shut. He then heard a second door swing closed and turned to see that the man’s Pinsir was in a cage also. He grunted and turned back around to see three men stop to watch. When they saw him look at them they averted their gaze and kept working. “Fear,” He thought, “It works so well.”
Any further thought were dispersed as he heard a low rumble that grew louder by the second. He turned in a circle, looking for the source, when he spotted something over the top of the trees to the east. A huge red head with two rows of razor sharp teeth floated toward the valley. Huge billows of black smoke floated through the trees, and behind the creature. It stopped and looked strait at the Adamant. It the opened it’s jaws and let loose an earth shaking roar.
“Monster!” a man shouted, and distracted Andrew. He glanced to the side to see his men backing away from the abomination, some turning and running for their lives.
“Come back and fight you cowards!” Andrew shouted at the fleeing men. His eyes caught sight of the Grunt he had just put in a cage, wailing and trying to break the door of his cage open, so he could run like the other’s had. As the last of his men ran away, he turned back to face the creature, cold sweat running down his neck.
Jessica believed her plan was quite ingenious. She had her Ralts project the image of a legendary Pokemon from the Hoenn. Tyler’s Porygon produced all needed sound effects and his Cyndaquil created the smoke. Unfortunately, her Ralts wasn’t strong enough to make a complete image, so it only got to the neck of the creature.
When they got into the clearing, Jessica was dismayed to see that the boss of the other men was still there. Along with one man stuck into one of the cages. She didn’t know what to make of that. One other thing that she wasn’t happy to see was the man’s strange Pokemon was still by his side.
Oh, well, she thought, we can still take him.
To Tyler she said, “That’s enough.” With that their Pokemon stopped their actions and the creature flickered and dissolved into nothingness. The man jumped slightly as the image disappeared and then anger covered his face, and he spit at them, “I was fooled by that! It was only a couple of kids with their weak Pokemon!” He then turned to his Pokemon and roared, “Take out those inferiors, Creadle!” His Pokemon ran forward on its hind legs until it picked up speed and then jumped into the air aiming at Porygon, jaws wide. Porygon, still weak from the earlier practice battle was unable to dodge as the creature and was grabbed by the massive jaws. Sadly, Porygon was held for only a few seconds before it was knocked unconscious.
“No!” Tyler gasped. Jessica, unaffected, yelled to her own Pokemon, “Ralts, use Teleport and then Confusion!”
As Creadle tossed Porygon to the side, Ralts, the small humanoid with green hair, disappeared and instantly reappeared behind Creadle and sent a purple amorphous blob at Creadle’s back. That attack dissipated and dissolved on contact to the Black shell of the Pokemon.
Great, Jessica thought, the thing is part dark type! I can’t hurt it with psychic attacks!
“Tyler!” He looked up from putting Porygon’s Pokeball on his belt, “I can’t hurt it with psychic attacks! Distract it for a little bit!” He nodded to her and ordered his Cyndaquil forward. Jessica returned Ralts quickly and pulled Clampearl’s Pokeball from her belt. “Let’s beat this guy into next year, Clampearl!”
“Use your Quick Attack, Cyndaquil!” Tyler yelled as Creadle lunged at his Pokemon. Cyndaquil moved extremely fast and struck the bug on the back, knocking it to the ground. “Now use Ember!” Cyndaquil breathed flames severely damaging the Bug type.
“Blast it, you idiot!” The man spluttered, “You’re supposed to be stronger with your new evolution! Destroy them!”
Tucking away what the man had said into his mind for later, Tyler attacked the creature again. Jessica’s Clampearl had managed to clamp itself over the creatures own jaws, immobilizing it with its weight. It tried to free itself of the clam by opening it’s jaws but to no avail. Cyndaquil burned the creature again, and then it fainted from exhaustion.
The man cursed, returning his defeated Pokemon. Tyler was preoccupied by what he said by his Pokemon. Cyndaquil had turned into energy again, but this time it was white and it regained its shape for an instant before elongating and changing shape until it returned to a creature. It had grown a couple of ears and looked a lot like Cyndaquil besides the fact that it was larger and had a separate fire on top of its head.
“Quilava!” the new creature yelled defiantly.
“Congratulations, your Cyndaquil has evolved into Quilava, the Volcano Pokemon,” Tyler’s Pokedex rattled off from his bag.
“Awesome!” Tyler exclaimed, punching the air.
“No time to celebrate,” Jessica cautioned as the man sent out two separate Pokemon. The first was a yellow Pokemon that resembled a bee, except for the two lance-like stingers that it had for arms. The second was a large blue bat with a gaping mouth and small wings.
“Beedrill! Use Twineedle on the clam! Golbat! Use Air Cutter on the rodent!”
The Pokemon rushed forward and Jessica and Tyler attacked the Pokemon back. At one point, Clampearl fainted and was switched back out for Ralts. Soon, the opposing Pokemon lay on the ground, defeated.
At this point, the man cursed again, and ran off after returning his fallen Pokemon. Suddenly, Ralts underwent a similar change as Quilava, and when the light faded, its new form was revealed. The new Pokemon had grown in height and its hair had grown to look like two pony tails on the sides of its head. The baggy clothing it had used to wear changed to the shape of a tutu. This revealed that the Pokemon had green legs.
“Congratulations, your Ralts has evolved into Kirlia, the Emotion Pokemon.” The Pokedex said.
“About time!” Jessica said, “Come on, let’s free these Pokemon.”
Together, Jessica and Tyler opened the cages of all the Pokemon and they soon ran off into the surrounding woods. When they got to the cage with the man in it, the left him there. “You deserve it, treating these Pokemon this way!” Jessica scolded.
After they were done Tyler turned to Jessica and said, “You know, I still don’t know who these guys are.”
“I can answer that question.”
They jumped around to see that the man from earlier had returned with the rest of his men.
“I am Administrator Andrew of the fear-inducing Team Rocket! Prepare to be destroyed!” With that, he swung his hand forward and all of the Grunt’s Pokemon rushed forward, unleashing various attacks.
