King Gengar's Super-Duper-Secret Top-Notch Nothing-But-Net Slam-Dunk Lollapalooza Over-The-Top Gold-Silver-AND-Bronze Deck.

You freaks thought I was kidding too. Secret deck is the best deck in the FORMAT! Between Dave, Fulop and myself, SD was 19-4 on the weekend netting 1 trip; although we all shoul dhave won!

SECRET DECK IS THE B D IN THE F.

mossy-seena G. period.
i don get how 1-6 ppl can be declared the 'best' pkmn players out their. they may be more skilled and more wealthy, but 'best' is a harsh word to say. Ant player can beat any other player, depending on the hand each player gets.

True, but people have to find others to lead them. Especially some pokemon players alot of whom are young, believe this group of players are gods of the pokemon tcg. Things get exagerated, the E4/Neo love the attention and there drive is even harder to win and gain even more popularity. If you looked at there win record over the years they probably statisticaly are the best.

It's a luck game no doubt Ignatious, but eventually after years of seeing the same people win the same tournaments, you can define the lucky from the skilled. However to call someone the best at something its all about which standpoint you're speaking from.

I give my highest credit to the E4, at there skill of both playing and deck building, no doubt this game would be alot more boring if it weren't for you guys constantly freaking people out with new decks.

As they say in Poker, it can be almost all luck as to who wins any given hand, but over the course of a year, the better player is ALWAYS out ahead.

Surprise is always the best element to a deck. Every player expects certain things by studying the metagame. When a player starts off with Articuno EX and Ho-oh EX, you don't automatically say to yourself, "OK this is Holy Star, here's what I do." However, even though surprise is the best element, most people play tried-and-true. Maybe they tech something surprising. Flariados was a surprise, and it continues to be. Mew-Trick was a surprise. Mew-Lock. Even Poli-stall.

After that, I think experience is the most important factor to being a winner. Knowing your deck, knowing your metagame, knowing the other players, playing in enough tournaments to overcome nerves. Practice, practice, practice.

A great player with a solid, surprise deck will have a huge advantage.

Even as I say this, though, the field is not necessarily dominated by surprise decks. Flariados is now widespread in my area, and Mew-Lock won 1 GC (even if you claim it should've won 3). The big one to beat is still LBS, with Queendom strong as ever (a spoiler to your day if nothing else).

Hey, I don't have all the answers, but these are my observations.

I think players are good based on their history. For example Worlds 2005 introduced a deck that was extremely good and was right under our noses we were just to focused on on our dragtrodes, ZRE's, Blastoise, Delcatty, Magneton, and Metagross' to notice. A good player is always trying new ideas and most of the time the ideas come out to work good. To me there are 2 kinds of good players. The good players who make the deck and the good players who use the decks. I give my hat to the players that make the decks because they are leaders and not followers. A few months ago if you told someone you were playing a deck with Holons voltorb and electrode they would've laughed in your face...I know I would have. But good players make cards like those playable. Right now my hat REALLY goes off to Eric Craig because in my eyes he made LBS and who isnt playing that deck right now? People can try and try but almost no deck can compete with its power. I cant stand the players that play these decks and feel all high and mighty because they are winning every tournament they go to with that deck dont get me wrong they are good for going through a vast feild of players but sometimes i think everyone should break out of their shells. Players like Moss, Jeremy, Seena, Ryan, Eric have and came out on or near top and started a trend. I am not saying this like I am the best player in the world but everytime I sit down to make a new deck I try to make a trend like those players did and hey some day it just might work.
