Turn 2 Kricketune'd

I'd be wary of playing the fossils, as they now count for a Prize if they are KOed.

Also Magic_Umbreon, I think you made a mistake in your deck list? You have Manaphy instead of Mantine?

Personally, I don't think there is a way you can get around mulligans or limit them, especially if you run only straight Kricketot/Kricketune. That is why you maximize your chances of filling the bench turn 1 by running so many Great Balls/Fast Balls/Holon's Mentor, so that you can recover from the disadvantage of having so many mulligans and dealing damage quicker turn 2.

Use 4 Team Galactic's Bet w/ 4-4 Kricketune. Yeah, you will mullagain a lot before you get a basic, BUT you can just drop the Galactic's Bet and reduce your opponent's hand size.

That's providing if you win the Rock-Paper-Scissors, lol. I mean, you can just run Copycat in this deck to copy their hand size imo.

No, no, no, no to fossils. I love the trail of thinking you have, it's simply unfortunate there are problems. The big problem with these fossils is: "What happens if you go first?". You can't search for anything good to attach an nrg to, which means a wasted turn and a slower setup. You NEED to get the T1 attachment or the T2 double rainbow so you can do the big T2 attack. That's why my list has no energy search or pluspower.

Fossils are also junk after the mulligan, whereas extra Kriketots or even free retreaters have at least minimal use later.

I'd be wary of playing the fossils, as they now count for a Prize if they are KOed.

As his intention was for them to be discarded ASAP, the threats are identical to those of a lone Kriketot in that T1 KO is tragic, otherwise development is rapid.

LOL thanks :)

Free retreaters or alternate T2 attackers as I repeatedly suggest. There's a lot more options than at first glance. Even Mr. Mime could be used for a laugh and still have that possibly of T1/2ing.

Remember, in my example of 12 basics, mentor/balls can fetch you the castforms for energy as well.

I haven't played Delcatty decks but surely their hand must get big? Even if they constrain, that's 6 and you'll get a better draw each time after you lay basics and use searchers etc. which means more double rainbow and maintenance.

Sometime soon, I'll run through some equations and calculate teh best ratios of energy and pokémon.

Something that none of you appear to have suggested is techs! In the list I proposed, an Absol ex Mew* or MewP5 may not be so unwelcome as they may appear.

Take Budew, if you have warp point or dual ball, then search for the other turn one. You could also search for nrg search or switch for acceleration and setup, which then gives you the T2 impact. Then of course, you have surprise (lone Kriketot is not surprising but Budew and they may think Infernape or rogue but not this) and less mulligans.

Comments much appreciated. Team Kriketune FTW

I think we should see what people come up with next season until we can declare this deck really good. Everytime I think of a new deck to play next season I remember that at least one key card got rotated. IMO, I think people are to focused on D/P cards and not looking back on cards that came out in HP and CG there are going to be playable next season.

Well, there's no harm in planing ahead, especially if we're not going to Worlds :thumb:

Thanks for the sound advice. I agree that teh archetypes will most definetly incorporate HP-PK cards and I try to include them in suggestions, but metagaming is indeed a mystery as of now.

Maybe u could try Tropius DP2, Celebi DP2, or maybe even Vespiquen

Celebi L.39 – Grass – HP80
Basic Pokemon

[.] Sprout: Search your deck for a Grass Energy card and attach it to Celebi. Shuffle your deck afterward.
[G][G] Leaf Tornado: 30 damage. You may choose any number of your Basic Grass Energy in play, and attach them to your Pokemon in any way you like.

Weakness: Fire (+20)
Resistance: none
Retreat: 1

Tropius L.28 – Grass – HP80
Basic Pokemon

[G] Leaf Blessing: Remove 3 damage counters from each of your Benched Pokemon that has any Grass Energy attached.
[G][C] Whirlwind: 30 damage. Your opponent switches the Defending Pokemon with 1 of his or her Benched Pokemon.

Weakness: Fire (+20)
Resistance: Fighting (-20)
Retreat: 1

^Both of those are too slow. Celebi's free retreat at the cost of an attack is pointless as you have no T1 energy drop. So crucial.

Personally, I think Mantine is the way to go. T2 evolution almost ensured. T2 50 very likely. The supprt allows you to use cards like Empoleon with it while you can mentor, evolve, retreat in the same turn.

nahhh, mantine is yuck, you cant even attack with it next turn.
straight up kricket/latilock is the best and most consistant.

has anyone considered the almighty LUVDISC here? 1 for 40 to nape, and groovy attack effects to boot.

also, a nice CFF attack to get your little crickets!

On the tools front i suggest the following-
3 castaway
2 strength charm (just in case you need it- run 4 plus power instead so you can use.....)
....4 Cessation Crystal
maybe a buffer piece or two?

Latilock kricketune? im intrigued!

I agree with Doms consistency argument, but no mentor? ? ? ?

I'd go with three or four buffer pieces and 4 castaway. To get celio's then krikky or mentor for extra damage is extreme.

I described Latis earlier if I remember. The idea is free retreat means you can mentor for krikky or do T2 90. With more basics you can run castforms and 4 dual ball. Plus you can exploit weakness.

There were some comments made on teh use of latilock, so I'm bumping this thread to show the progress and suggestions that have been made.

this thread is way better anyway lol.

Heh, thanks!

Since it's now active, I think I'll revise my list later tonight as well and see if I can't make it better.

Back to back posts merged. The following information has been added:

Ok, I went ahead and made some changes for Kricketune'd version 3:

1. Dropped the Carnivine idea/deck tech. It just wasn't working for me, and I agree that simple 4/4 is better and more consistent.
2. Dropped ER2 down to 3 in favor of maxing Night Maintenance and your chance to draw it when needed.
3. Dropped the 3 TV Reporter in favor of Island Hermit. Island Hermit is superior in this deck imo because if you have a Kricketot or Kricketune prized, you're in serious trouble regarding the maximum damage you can do. By having Island Hermit, you can at least have a chance of guessing which Prize could be a Kricketot/Tune in the event one is prized, and since you're running 3 you will be able to flip all of your prizes face-up. And it's still +2 for Draw.
4. Revised the strategy part a bit to make it simpler to read. And ditching references of Carnivine.
