Tyranitar Prime Discussions

i didn't actually, but if you want i can PM you the deck list, so you can check what to do. Anyways, because of Reshiram/Zekrom, i've got Zoroark and plus power/ junk arm (though, it's a tech 1-1, but i'm thinking of using a 2-2 line), but i'm sure Ttar can stand on its own pretty well against reshiram just giving him damage counters or hitting with megaton tail. But i just realized that the biggest enemy against this deck would be Serperior/Reuniclus, cause of it's capability to take counters off, the match would depend of Mandibuzz with plus power and Junk arm, or Ttar with megaton tail and a plus power, i guess i'll have to tech Solrock/Lunatone.

True about Megaton Tail...T-tar can take 1 120 hit and hit back with M.T. for 130.
Which is why I'm thinking of calling 3 Larvis in the beginning, but what do have to set up? Sableye/Spiritomb is gone, by the time we get to T-tar, we might've done given up 2-3 prizes. Anything we can use to speed up setup? (sure, PM me the list, love to see it)

You could try starting with some houndour or vullaby as an Active pokemon, then play collector and get 2Larvis/1Zorua or 2Zoruas/1Larvitar. Then pokemon communication to get a tyranitar prime and rare candy it, or zoroark in case you have a double colorless in your hand, (2 Juniper will refresh your hand nicely enough to get 1 of those in turn 2) or attach him with a special and a basic darkness energy. Then foul play them and take their 130 hp "quickly".

Yanmega is not that good of a card and is a terrible donphan counter. A good donphan counter is kingdra. Ttar isn't that good imo, too slow but if it works it works. You just get shredded apart by any fast t2 deck.

While T-Tar can be slow at times there are ways you can stall to allow for setup, specifically Cleffa works with a bit of luck. I myself run a T-Tar deck and really enjoy it but it defiantly can be slow. With the new rotation the game will slow down a lot, but speed decks such as Zekrom and Reshiram energy acceleration decks will pose a problem if not handled properly. It erks me a little that such powerful basic pokemon were printed, it seemed like they were straying away from this with early rotation (rotating out SP cards, etc.) but then they go and print Zekrom and Reshiram, and the errata to rare candy didn't help any -__- I still feel T-Tar Prime is a very powerful card and has a lot of potential, I hope somehow Stage 2 decks can get some support in the future, otherwise it's going to be all Reshiram/Zekrom and powerful Stage 1's decks with no hope for all the great Stage 2 cards.

Stage two decks are insanely powerful ATM. Zek and resh will be dominate here when we get the new gust of wind card. However right now magnibor is really good.

I do agree with yanmega not being donphans counter. I use mine to snipe bench and usually snag 2 prizes before donphan ko's my yanmega.

T-tar will get it's day don't you worry

^Maybe sooner than you think?

This might not be "it's day" but, Tyranitar going with Mandibuzz and Zoroark has been working well for me (you can learn more on it when, or if, my article is put on the front).

Forget about stage 1 partners, you have Samurott that can avoid the damage from darkness howl and take down those annoying donphans and emboars, you are gonna run DCE for power claw anyway, why not use a water pokemon that attacks with 3 colorless.

Loads of junipers and candy i guess, you are gonna attack with only 1 of each anyway, and setup reshikroms to unleash the real madness.

New partner for Tyranitar? I need the opinion of everyone. What do you think?

Cofagrigus - Psychic - HP90
Stage 1 - Evolves from Yamask

[P][C] Damage Count: Move all damage counters on one of your Benched Pokemon to the Defending Pokemon.
[P][C][C] Bewilder: 30 damage. The Defending Pokemon is now Confused.

Weakness: Darkness (x2)
Resistance: none
Retreat: 3

Once there is a lot of damage on Tyranitar, send him out and OHKO the opponent with up to 150 damage.

It certainly could help your Donphan Matchup. If Donphan does Earthquake you can just play Switch and attack, KO'ing the Donphan. Though, it does require setting up another Pokemon that altogether is not worth the amount of Energy it uses IMO. It could work with Darkness Howl though; you could do some serious damage after a while. I half wondered with Donchamp if Reuniculus was tecked in how it would work. Also, have you considered that Beartic could work well in Tyranitar? Just replace some basic darks with Rainbow Energy and you have a fully utilized Beartic slaying every Donphan in site. Yanmega Prime could work well in Tyranitar as well, and up its disruption factor. If I'm repeating past conversations my bad, I haven't read any of the older posts. Hope I helped.

I dont see Tyranitar doing well in the format at all tbh. Gets destroyed by Magneboar, destroyed by Donchamp, loses by Yanmega/Zone, and also loses to ReshiBoar/Zekrom. Not really good to have a deck that loses to all of the meta.

Even MewGar should have a decent matchup. :p And all those techs will just make it clunky. A better alternative is KingBuzz, but even that isnt that great.

Because it can also be used to attack Donphan and you can target all pokemon, not just dark. The power alone just is more useful then sending up a huge pokemon like ttar and spreading. The spread will also hurt your babies with ttar, making them vulnerable to a variety of things later.

Run straight Tyranitar with Max potion when it gets released, or atm, run Tyranitar with ridicolous teches(Yanmega/Zekrom/Tyranitar) to try to cover the bad matchups. Wait until Max potion, then the deck is good.

I can just Kill my babies, allowing me to use Twins.

You assume that Tyranitar is worse because can't do very good VS DonChamp but KingBuzz can it's better? KingBuzz can't really beat MagneBoar or ZPS. Tyranitar can beat it.
