Pokémon TCG: Sword and Shield—Brilliant Stars

UK City Championships series

The Manchester folk need to understand they can't just tell people who phone them that CPs are available...people can book their tickets because of this and it is now a waste of money...

You know, when I SPOKE to Ian on the Phone the other week he said yes, Championship points WOULD be available at the Winter Warmer.

This event has been on the cards for months. I sanctioned this event several weeks ago, but sure enough, when I went onto the Pokemon site (after this thread had been brought to my attention) it had mysteriously vanished (although when I re-sanctioned it the date came up as one of my recently chosen date options). For some reason lots of my stuff has been vanishing from the official Pokemon site of late - mostly my player lists every single time I go to report a league.

This event was Ian's idea. He signed off on its Premiere Event status, signed off on its Championship Points, signed off on the date. We've had two telephone conversations on the subject. It's a good job one of my players brought this thread to my attention before it was too late to do anything about it!

I don't spend every moment of my life on PokeGym, because - and I think we all know this - despite Fan Boy Three being one of the biggest Pokemon communities in the UK I literally don't have the time to run around obsessing over Pokemon when - say - I'm running the biggest Pro Tour Qualifier for Magic the UK has ever had (last weekend).

I have enough boosters to cover the City-level prize support. I might not currently have the promos Ian promised, but hopefully he can still make good on his original promise of Championship points.

Hopefully we'll see you all Saturday.

p.s. the Fan Boy City Championship is currently pencilled in for February towards the end of the season.

Hopefully my post explains this. As far as we were aware it was sanctioned, we had prize support and promo support inbound and I had personally confirmed the Championship points with Ian the other week.

Wait; is this event inclusive of Championship Points or not?
Ian, could you give us a final verdict to rule all others?
On a side note, thanks for the heads up on the medals; that's a relief!

Very appreciative of you replying to us :) If this is the case that you did sanction this event months ago, shouldn't you be granted the Championship Points status? Considering it wasn't your error?

I would also like to know if Ian will grant this cause I will happily still go if CPs are confirmed! I was looking forward to this event tbh...

If it was sanctioned, why has it never appeared on the tournament locator? It wouldn't take that much time/effort to check would it?

2 days is not enough notice.

If they had points it wouldn't be fair on people who need more than 2 days notice.

The right decision imo, and thanks to NoPoke for coming on here to let us know.

Thank god for that! Cheers NoPoke :D

I was just trying to find a way to go!!

I also spoke on the phone and was told CP but it seems it was an honest mistake. I was also told clearly that there would be NO Cities in Manchester other the one on Saturday, so, round 2: Is there really one in Feb?

Personally, i'm hoping yes! Always had good experiences in Manchester, good place. I look forward to a Cities there :D

Well seeing as there will be no CP for the Machester event, plus it is being held tomorrow so there is no point in adding it to the list. Such a shame though for all those who were planning on going.

Though if someone asks me too, then i'll add it to the list.

Quite a shame for me too.

We have been publicising this for two months, albeit not (directly) on Pokegym.

It doesn't need to be publicised on PokeGym (or anywhere else).

It just needs to be on the official tournament locator. That's where everyone goes to find this stuff out.

Well, as I like to feel I've demonstrated in the last dozen or so hours, when I first realised that it wasn't showing up on the locator I re-sanctioned it immediately.

I was honestly under the impression that I had sanctioned it back at the Noble Victories Prerelease - I usually do a whole batch of upcoming things for Pokemon when I'm focussed on running a Pokemon event. Like I already said, my computer has a record of me entering the date and the name of the event but there's no record of it ever listing. I did have a massive problem on the day though, as part way through the website suddenly lost all its graphics and wouldn't upload. I reported it to Ian at the time, but I guess it entirely slipped my mind to go back on and check.

These things happen occasionally in organised play.

I've raised this event issue up the chain to the US. Anyone who rang me or e-mailed me about this event in the past week or so who we've replied to, when we told you what the prize support and points situation was we did so in good faith.

p.s. in his latest reply to me, Ian has said there will be Nationals Qualification Points available at it. Not quite sure how relevant that is.

Yep, it seems to be just one of those things. I'm sure everyone acted in good faith.

The Nationals Qualification Points might well be relevant to people who don't travel around that much or go to a lot of tournaments. You need 10 to enter Nats this year, so it could be a good way for people to pick some up.

Just to clarify then, is there going to be a Cities in Feb?

Yes, there will be a Cities in February. My original date was probably the 18th, but now I'm worried that it clashes with the Pokemon Videogame event at Gamerbase in London that weekend.

That would however give two whole weeks to test after Next Destinies prereleases.

Suggestions?

The 18th also clashes with the European Cup in the Netherlands, which a lot of UK players will travel to.
