Pokémon TCG: Sword and Shield—Brilliant Stars

UK City Championships series

Having considered all the options I'm going for a pre-Europeans post-Next Destines Deck Testing Cities on February 11th.

Just call it the FB3 PEPNDDTCC.

FB3

p.s. sanctioned AND visible

p.p.s. the Winter Warmer had 22 players and a giant cake shaped like Pikachu.

POP are not removing medals: there have been production difficulties. And before anyone asks I do not know when they will become available.

Apparently there's also a separate issue, speaking to some other European players. The medals can't clear US customs due to their weight, and P!P are planning smaller replacements for international players?

No idea if I should post here buuut I've been told nationals are on the 30th of June? is this right?

That is correct, and its also at the same place its been for the previous 2 years. I know they'll definitley be qualification criteria for the tournament which might be fine for Japan and US nationals, but doesn't suit anywhere else. Last season we got 99 masters for nationals and we're considered one of the bigger fields in terms of Euro nationals. This could potentially cut down the field to less than 40 players and is a huge detterent to new players coming into the game. After all nationals was the first tournament I ever played. I've heard somewhere between 5-10 championship points being needed to qualify.

You need 10 Play! Points to play in the Nationals, not any Championship points. You can get Play! Points from just participating in any leagues or tournaments, regardless of how you do. I think that playing in a State Championship gets you 5 points, so along with a few City Championships and Battle Roads, that's your entry secured.

It's going to cut the attendance to an extent, but I think that most players will easily achieve 10 Play! points anyway.

Nationals will not require Championship Points. It will require a small number of Play! Points. I expect that almost every player who participates thoughout the season will accumulate sufficient Play! Points to qualify for nationals and as such do not anticipate a dramatic drop in numbers. With a bit of detective work you may even uncover a reason why attendance could increase this year!

Championship Points are primarily of value to those players who are planning on attending worlds in Hawaii without an invite from Nationals. To give some purpose to CPs this year in the UK there will be a small prize in each of the three age divisions to the player who achieves the highest CP in the UK along with a similar Player of the Year award for Play! Points.

I wonder who will be first to spot the good news hidden on the pokemon OP site?

I'm still owed CPs for Cardiff battle roads, sent emails etc but still nothing and its been a long long time lol... what should i do about this xD

Also so the paid trips....1 goes to the winner of Nats....the other to the person with the highest CPs?`
If the winner and person with highest CPs is the same...it goes to the person who came 2nd?

ooor is it just 1st and 2nd at nats that get an paid trip?

Is this the awesome reason why attendance might increase?

Yeah, I think it is. Considering the price of Hawaii especially, winning a paid trip is the only way that most people can afford to go to the World Championships, so it's a great incentive to play Nationals.

I wont win because xxxx is in my age group doesn't act as a strong incentive to play. (The UK has a bit of a history of a single dominant player in their age group repeatedly taking the top prize. )

But I could come second......AND STILL GET A PAID TRIP

I expect a lot of players will believe that they have a shot at Hawaii this year with the addition of a trip for second place: they'd be correct in that belief too.

See you ALL in June

Play for the "love of the game", Championship Points should just be a small reward towards playing. I personally play for "booster pack prizes" and league rewards.

Fares Sekkoum is the best player in the game period. The best there was, the best there is and the best there will ever be. - Uncle Nitish

Hey, the Sekkoum brothers haven't won EVERY year..

Just every year since I started going to Nats

Now there will be THREE of them in Masters . . .

To find the last person to win the UK Nationals who wasn't a Sekkoum, you have to go back to 2005. That might even be because they were Seniors, I'm not sure.

2011: Yacine Sekkoum
2010: Sami Sekkoum
2009: Sami Sekkoum
2008: Yacine Sekkoum
2007: Sami Sekkoum
2006: Sami Sekkoum
2005: Chris Mcgivern

After looking at this list, it kind of makes me wonder if it will just be Sami and Yacine taking both trips!
