Pokémon TCG: Sword and Shield—Brilliant Stars

UK Regional/State Championship Dates

^^In the situations described, it was appropriate. We're not exactly n00bs ;)
no one is saying you are , what i am saying is that some children who don't follow as religiously as others may have difficulties, so to avoid problems some things shoul be made clear to avoid confusion and bad feeling when it should be fun for all and not just for those with more understanding :)

Judges frequently go much lighter on the youngest age group. It is supposed to be Fun and Fair. However though a degree of ignorance of the rules in the Juniors age group is expected don't try to use ignorance as a defense in the Masters age group.

They are penalty GUIDELINES. Judges should take circumstance into account. Don't forget you can appeal to the head judge.

I'm sceptical about the whole junior thing. If their parents are TOs/regular players then they should be able to learn the rules with enough practice...

my point is that some people in general have learning difficulties ie special needs and are entitled to play and have fun as much as anyone else. so head judges should take this into account after all there should be equal opportunities. to be fair on everyone rules should be made clear before the tournament starts. those of a higher level of play should understand the need for this and be more understanding. some rules aren't always made clear. eg more technical rules. i'm not questioning the way you played in your game, i'm making a general statement from experience.

i just think that some judges are too quick to assume things, thats all. :thumb:

I'm sure that most head judges and tournament organisers do take them into account.

The problem is, certainly with more competitive tournaments such as STPs, Regionals, National Championships, etc., the assumption is made that the players should already know the rules. Its less important for smaller events and league play, because that is where more newer players are introduced to the game and can hone their skills from there. It is quite a bit of hassle trying to teach new players how to play the game on the day of a major tournament you're supposed to be running - I learned that to my disadvantage some time ago.

IMO, whatever your situation, wherever possible, players should check the rules again just before a major tournament. It is a judge's responsibility to oversee things but it is a player's responsibility to know that they are doing things right, even if it means calling over a judge mid-way through a game.

Just my two pence,
Cole

Well, no, not a go at him anyway!

Every premier event should run pretty much the same. But judges vary, and so experiences will. A premier event isn't a tourney you're just supposed to walk into. Certain things are required of everyone involved, staff and players alike.

not having a go at anyone at all, most of the time things run smoothly. just my view on things thats all. maybe because i deal with this type of thing all the time, i'm more aware of certain situations. understand that certain things need to be known by players. again though, just voicing an opinion shared by some. might make things easier to deal with in these types of tournaments if they did go through the rules. someone mentioned that to me as an idea. bye for now folks. lets all [play nice:clap:
