Pokémon TCG: Sword and Shield—Brilliant Stars

UK South East Challenge 28 September 2003

Yeah, I got the cards this morning. It's just the Traders and Copycats I'm needing now, I think. I've got a few Bill's Maintainance in my Eeveelution deck, but I was going to lend that deck to my friend. I might buy him a R/S theme deck or something. Anyways, thanks a lot! Those Cleffa are pretty sweet, and I never imagined the the Elm card could improve upon the good old Prof. Oak... *happy*

Oh, and Djcati, I'd be happy to give u an unlimited match. Perhaps you can try against my fire or grass decks (all pre-Neo cards...)

Can I plop Resi Zero into the cube and see it on a huge screen? XD
Where can I get a decent projector, how much, and would it run with my NTSC Gamecube? :)

Ah now the projector stuff I leave to our resident technical expert NoPoke and he is in Newcastle at the moment but rest assured we have a projector lined up so you can see what it's like and maybe go for the same make.

Okay guys and gals anyone got any Traders and Copycat that Android17a can have?

Oh and everyone bring your link cables and lets get some GBA action going on between matches and rounds...

*still doesn't understand what "swiss" means* ^^;
never played in a tourney, only been to a league a total of five times.. With a year between my 2nd and 3rd visits.. heh, most of my matches are against people using my partly-modified pre-con decks..

Gah, I should start trying to raise my Pokemon more, huh.. I've only got two badges, I've not played Ruby much.. Heh, I spent an hour last night playing Red on Doduo mode, cause I *finally* found a transfer pack.
But my new super-cool Matrix-style black SP should be some incentive to play. :D

I'll look through my cards for Traders and Copycats..

Okay djcati let me try an regurgitate WotC's take on Swiss ...

SWISS-STYLE PAIRING SYSTEM

Swiss tournament system; also known as the Swiss Draw, this tournament style allows all participants to play in every round, pairing each round’s players based on their current records and standings.

To determine who plays against whom, players with the best match records are matched against each other, and then the next highest records, then the next and so on...

This system offers many advantages over single-elimination. To begin with, all players get to participate for the duration of the tournament, and any number of players may play with (at most) one bye per round.

And before you ask a Bye is an automatic win 3pts for a player who has no opponent due to an odd number of players in the tournament.

Or you may prefer MTMs rather shorter version from 29/11/2001!

master_trainer_mike presents the speaker with question #96 from pokemonwarrior:What's Swiss?

master_trainer_mike says, "it is a tournament style. You either have single elimination (where you are out of the tournament after you lose) or swiss (where you get to play in the tournament the whole time and the results are based upon your final score).

Hope that helps guys and gals? Basically your gonna have loadsa fun and pokefrolics

Great! That means I can be as crap as normal :-D

Watch me get dead last ;)

Correct me if I am wrong or miss any, but are the series we're allowed to use...

-Ruby/Sapphire
-Aquapolis
-Skyridge
-Expedition
-The NEO sets
-Legendary

are these the ones we can use? Or are some of those not allowed? Are there some I didnt mention that we can use?

And if Sandstorm is released next month, will that be allowed for the event?

Okay if Sandstorm is released in the UK next month and there is over a week to the tournament then yes you can play sandstorm cards.

But if it is released in the US and is not readily available in the UK then no not allowed.. sorry

Otherwise yes your list is correct with the addition of the Southern Island set :)

Technically.. has R/S been released in the UK yet? The Pokemon TCG site still says "later this summer"..

R&S have been released in the UK. officially now as well ;)

As to using Sandstorm at a tournament remember that the aim is for players to have fun. Its up to the TO to make his best judgement as to wheather the inclusion of Sandstorm would increase the level of fun for the majority of attendees or reduce it. remember that most pokemon players in the UK are used to using the grey market to get cards . There is a big difference between general availability and release dates as far as the playing community is concerned.

I second that. Still, I'm going to put up the best fight I can to put Leicester on the map. *crosses fingers for a Birmingham event in the future*

Well we are hoping to run a tournament in Birmingham sometime next year.

Erm NoPoke I know you have been to Newcastle but Android even mentions our hope for Birmingham in the quote you posted!

Sorry folks looks like our Judge Team is malfunctioning I will just take him round the back of the Gym and reset him ... (Sound of boot leather on trousered seat)

There that should have solved the problem :thumb:

I have it on good authority that Freddy will be drooling over you if you win this .. guard will be provided to keep hairy clefairy at bay if necessary

I spoke to Jim the other day - basically it all depends on how his Uni resits go. We may see him, we may not...
BTW, Cati, there probably will be a league on the Saturday before, now with 5 members (excluding you and me) - Jim, Andrew, Calum, David & Kevin.
We may also have a Lv50 GBA Tournament at GAME that afternoon, so that will be a really Poketastic weekend with the SE4 on the Sunday.
I'll email you after I speak to the manager.

We will have crib sheets on each table as a reminder on the day, but I suggest you get playing to Ninty's rules ASAP :thumb:
