Pokémon TCG: Sword and Shield—Brilliant Stars

What Anime can really be called "G rated"?

My mistake then.
I mean, still, would you rather your 8-year old watching death note or hamtaro?

Death Note.
They're rotting their brain one way or another, but I'd prefer an intelligent, tasteful but de-sensitized 8 year old over a couch potato watching silly shows.

Maybe that's just me? Probably.

Its been awfully long but how much fanservice did dn have? I dont really remember but wasnt there some?

The manga didn't have much, but there were some suggestive scenarios, even if they weren't outright shown...

There are a lot of "innocent" anime, and even more innocent manga. I think a great manga example is Love So Life, which is all about a girl babysitting and loving the kids being cute, with some mild side romance (that has not gotten to even a kissing stage, as usual for this type of manga). A good anime example might be Dennou Coil, but it has been too long for me to remember if it ends up having enough "violence" to contradict that...it is a very cute oriented anime, so I hope I am right. Something like Iblard Jikan is definitely G.

Dennou Coil is the one with the VR glasses, right? That was CUTE! And some pretty decent action at times.

What about Kappa Mikey? It was an American Cartoon with a lot of Anime elements that was on Nickelodeon for a while.

I am well aware of this. But out of my repertoire of Anime, I couldn't think of any "G-rated." Lucky Star and Azumanga Daioh come close, but, like PokePop said, they're more Simpsons than Care Bears.

And in case I'm not clear on that, "Simpsons" level is fine.
"South Park" is over the line.

And, again, "South Park" level can be discussed as long as you don't discuss the aspects that put it over the line.

In case anyone is curious, the reason that I'm using US animations as reference points is because I don't know a damn thing about anime.

I think Akira and Trigun would be good anime examples of over the line just due to the sheer amount of violence involved. For more vulgarity (South Park), Detroit Metal City would be a good example.

Just skimmed the comments, but I'll say unless it's the specifically "adult" anime, then you can discuss it. If there are PG-13+ elements or events happening in them, you just don't go there. All you have to say is "I recommend ______ , because it's got a great story it has ______ theme that I like, and very interesting/well-developed characters." You don't have to go into a lot of detail for discussion. If you're unsure if an anime is appropriate, just PM a staff member (me would be fine, since this is my forum) and we can tell you if it's good.

how does lucky star comes close to being G rated.

It has refrences to yaoi, adult games, other stuff
buut then again it does refrence pokemon a few times.

Can we move away from thinking "G-rated"?
We're not requiring that.
PG rated discussion. That's it.
Not that complicated.

To be honest, I'm confused about what PG is these days. When I was a kid it was way more strict than today it seems. Lol, I still remember how my parents reacted when a swear word was dropped in Spy Kids.

Good point there, good point. lol

There's not many anime that can be G rated, even pokemon uif you think about it long enough. Haibane Renmei? Minus the first and last episode?

I use to think Power Puff Girls was a kids show until I saw Bubbles rips someones horn off and stick it through his mouth. At the end of the day, all kid shows have something in them related to violence, or other things not to do.

G rated anime... let me think... Hamtaro. Any questions?

Here is a couple of other clean and wholesome anime however have scenes throughout the series that just eliminate the G-rated goodness that only animated Disney films can seem to provide.

- Angelic Layer: A single-season series where a young 12-year-old girl from a small Japanese town moves to Tokyo and discovers a new electronic game where players control electronic dolls called "Angels" in a mind controlled battle game where the series gets its name from. As the girl plays the game she unknowlingly works her way to being reunited with her mother (who's disability is the sole reason why the game was created) whom she has not seen in seven years. A very good family series worth watching. Based on the popular manga by CLAMP.
- Kaliedo Star: A teenaged girl moves from Japan to the U.S. to audition for a premiere circus called Kaliedo Stage. As she struggles to find stardom amongst other candiates and stiff celebrities who look down on her. She finds friends from all parts of the world and shows there is more than talent that makes a true Kaliedo Star.

Kaliedo Star would be FULLY G rated if it weren't for Carlos Being semi perverted in episode 1
Because he looked at soras legs and thought they "looked good"
and the spirit of the stage who wants to see sora take a shower.

In all it's a pretty good anime.
