Pokémon TCG: Sword and Shield—Brilliant Stars

What to expect/not expect at US Nats

ugh, ape.

If only it didn't lose to metanite :' (

lolz

As I said elsewhere:

You're totally right: Metanite has every possible facet of Ape targeted and pre-dismantled. I mean, the fact that Ape OHKO's Metagross d and the Lati@s stars, and that Delcatty ex OHKO's Dragonite and Lugia ex, and that Ape X OHKO's everything in the freaking deck, and that Casty will rarely be alive for more than two turns, and that Catty ex can force the Meta player to get rid of most of what Casty drew for him anyway, and that Catapex can tech almost as or just as easily as Metanite, and that Ape/Catty can literally COME FROM NOWHERE (via candy and DRE/Boost) for a cheap OHKO, and that Catapex does not really have a truly horrible starter yet, and that Metagross DX can only do 40 to anything in Catapex. So, yeah, excluding all that, Metanite totally owns Ape..

(Harshness not aimed at moza; I too lazy to change any of the wording. lol)

Alright, here we go!

Ape ohko's Metagross d, guess what? We ohko back ^_^ We dont even need to use metagross half the time, Latios* works quite well on its own. And besides, look for techs that seem to autowin the ape matchup, they are there. It is only for Team M to know, and for the gym to find out ;P

Ugh, good luck having the set up to pull this off multiple times without sacrificing castforms left and right.

Believe me I WANT metanite to win this lol, it's just ridiculously hard.

MetaNite sure has some problems with Ape but it's faw away from auto-loss. Ape is a bit faster than MetaNite, so if they get T2 Ape going without T1 Delta Draw with 5 cards and they can keep Flare Blitz coming MetaNite will surely have hard time.

But I hope that Absolutions will see play at Nats because it's such a good deck and it can beat any deck easily with the right player. Vaporeon ex is so useful in Ape and Delta Draw deck match-ups that Absolutions could play 2 Vaporeon exs just countering the metagame.

Dont't forget Mario, I think its going to have alot of action in nats cause it may kill early castforms with Riolu and ko Delcattys and its really fast.

Yes, but you can include only one Latios *, while I can include three Infernapes. Yes, you can Farmer it back, but I can do the same to my Infernape. Plus, since you Farmered, you can't Mentor Latios * and Castform out that turn: you have to get lucky with two successive Delta Controls. Not to mention the fact that you must have two Lightning Energies in the discard and two Draggies out in order to attack with the Latios again.

But, let's assume you run more than just the standard Latios *, Lugia ex, Latios ex, [other obvious, expected Metanite techs). Sceptile ex d would help only in that I can no longer Constrain you, and I now cannot Candy Boost a Catty ex out of nowhere to do a flat 60. A much better tech would be Pidgeot d w/ some GLs: no EDraw, no Burning Head, no Constrain, just 80/90 for two. You would need to get that Pidgeot up within the first few turns, though, as Catapex only needs three or four turns to achieve setup even with bad starts. A downside to this tech is that it takes up a minimum of four to five slots (one Pidgey, one Pidgeot and at least two or three GLs).

You could also try Mew * just for the Ape matchup, but that would force you to drop Latios *. Plus, one has to question Mew *'s superiority over Latios * (something which I will not do, as I don't really care either way). Crawdaunt ex is another contender: he OHKO's Ape for only four Energy and disrupts a benched Ape/Catty ex, thus forcing me to waste a Rare Candy to get Ape/Catty ex back in play. Plus, he OHKO's without forcing a discard.

Well, I'm tired, so /rant. Let's not forget, though, that the entire above discussion is based upon the assumption that you ARE able to get set up against Ape.

(sorry if I sounded harsh, 'twasn't the intent)

You keep looking at the wrong techs. And you also have to remember that mew*/latios* are basics, while you are losing a S2.

It isn't a normal metanite tech, trust me ;P

Fine. </3

Besides, regardless of the tech's superiority over Catapex, it's not gonne matter much in two months. lol

>_<
