What to expect/not expect at US Nats

Ape isn't an autoloss for MetaDrag at all, but don't expect MetaDrag to win more than 1 in 4 or 1 in 5 IMO.

I've tested alot of techs for ape , the only problem being there isn't one that consistently breaks the matchup. I've tried Lunatone and Solrock but it's very difficult to sacrifice 2 bench spaces and 2 spots in the deck while being able to do consistent 100 damage KOs.

IMO the only way to make the infernape game better (Better, not good) is to sacrifice your other matchups.

At risk of sounding like Rokman I don't think MetaDrag will be a strong force at Nationals like it has been all year..

Nice article but...

NO!

Infernape will NOT win Nats.

I second this motion.
Not because of the deck/card but that it has'nt been around the block enough to meet and play with the big boys (R-Gon, Metanite ect.) It is a great deck but we dont know its full potential yet so it is prbably best to leave nats decks to the AT (arch types) that we know can get the job done and hold it own on a regular basis. Same reason I dont think claydol SD wont win ofcourse it is the all mighty "Secret Deck" but due to it not being played anywhere it is a huge risk on playing a new deck. Now there are people that can do these thing play a deck once and win all the way through but I doubt this will happen at nats.

The surpise factor is also a huge thing on how they could do very well but not win. I am know from experience that it is'nt fun to play a deck you have'nt seen before. Leave that WTH emotion open for expliotion.

Decks like Claydol, Inferape, and other new and up and coming decks will do well if played right. But win I seriously doubt it.

Well, I agree w/ some of your points.

IMHO, Ape and R-Gon are going to run rampant at Nats, but I don't think that they are going to be the ONLY thing in top 8/16/32.
I think there will be 1 surprise deck in top 4, at least 2 Infernape, and 1 R-Gon or Absolutions.

Absolutions can beat Infernape if it gets out Vaporeon ex fast, and maintains that damage spreading.

There will probably be more than 1 surprise deck in top 32. Its that final cut of decks that have been there and can run in final matches.

Can someone clue me in on how InfernCatty works. I understand the early 80's with DRE, but what happens then? You can't do 90 every turn after. Do you use Delcatty ex's attack to shuffle back the DRE and start over again? Please no, "....if you don't win before you run out of DRE" because that doesn't help.

banette is not dead. look at the battle road victories. sure it can find some hard matchups with dark types. but there are ways banette can work around that.

and yes, prime, that is how it works. use all your dre. keep on piling up energy on the discard and use delcatty ex's attack to shuffle them back in. also monferno useage in the beginning game is good.

yea thats exactly what you do, Infernape has free retreat and Delcatty EX does too so the DRE, Upstream, Draw Power/ Energy Draw combo works perfectly.

That does'nt mean it is'nt dead nats is a totaly diffrent tourney than Battle Road tht sometimes touch weakness will kill you at nats you need a deck that you wont get stuck in. Personaly hen I played banette I got into tomany tough position not to be worried.

What if they (opponent) KO's your Delcatty ex when you bring it up? I think the norm is 1 Delcatty ex, with some running 2. What if the one is prized?

*prays alex is right on popular decks* And I love how the infernape players always give themselves t2 candy/ape/dre ko on casty and never give the metanite player anything at all. ;/

Hmm, that's odd, how cum both top 2 masters decks in my Battle road ended up being Electinite? Must be a huge coincidence. LOL.

I'm still very proud that I was the only player in the US to T2 with Electranite. NOt only did I T2 with it, but did so 3 times. I'm happy.

That's why GOOD lists always run two Delcatty exes: you get royally backhanded if you only run one.

Honestly, a 4-3-2 Catty/ex line really is pre-requisite. A 3-2-1 is just an invitation to phail.

(BTW, I'm currently experimenting with a 4-4-2 line. lol)
