if I had to give percentages for how much luck, deck choice, and skill of the player affected a win, I'd give deck choice half the marbles right off the bat because only certain decks will win tournaments consistently. I'd give the player's skill 30 percent because with so many of the same decks, it takes better than average skill to do well, and then the rest (20%) to luck because that also affects what happens with so many of the same decks being played. A player playing one of the good decks, who has luck has a pretty good chance of doing well that day. Throw in the fact that the player is skilled and well he has an even better chance. If doesn't play one of the good decks? Good luck, you will need to have the utmost skill and luck and hope the opponents are unlucky and unskilled and you might do well.

the element of luck will become more minute the more the player thinks logically, and the greater craftmanship that goes into the build, trainers in particular.
the building of the deck is a very painful art, can never be perfect, always an improvment missed. the trial and error is really the only way to get it right as theoretical only goes so far. it is this that will make the victor the victor, the incedible amount of craftmanship put into the build.
the man/women behind the deck is most important of all to me. they decide when to play what, how it needs to be done to exceed victory. the best player will also show a great ability to adapt to any situation that hasn't been logically preditcated and a cure for the problem pre-devised.
it is not the cards in the deck that is most important, but the puppet master pulling the strings of life upon his weilded weapon. so to speak.

Back to back posts merged. The following information has been added:
style will also play a significant part in who wins the states. the one who relise on his mathmatical skills and logical outcomes, the idealists.
then, the ones who will risk it all, put all his eggs in one basket, willing to lose a few battles to win the war, the adventurers, or gamblers.(that would be me)
the question i think should be not
what but
who will win states.
will it be majority logical idealists, or the win or die trying gambelers.
as for the player hopping to win, you should first work out what you are, and learn how to apply the skills and tactics of the other to aid you in a win. you need to be yin&yang, perfect ballence. the third and most elite style.
