I didn't mean to come accross in any way of arrogance. I am not trying to steal your spotlight either. I'm not actually challenging you for your title...you ARE the 2009 world champion, nothing I do will change that. I've always respected both you and your father for your commitment to the game. You might remember, I wrote the flariados article with pidgeot POP2 =)

Anyways back on topic. The idea for fundraising came from the first post on this thread. I didn't even ask for it to begain with. The idea for reserving a spot on the list because alot of my friends were "dibsing" spots. (I wanna play you first, 2nd etc...) I thought it could be an idea of sorts to sell them as an auction.

As I also said, I'm asking for ideas...what would be a good pokemon related cause that the money raised can be put towards? I'm not even using the money to pay for my flight there. I don't need a hotel room until AFTER I'm done playing, and if it makes you feel better, any money collected will be through a 3rd party! I won't even touch it.

I am a firm believer that asking for cash donation is on a public forum like this, with no guarantee of where it is going is WRONG. If he plans to use it to start a school activity than a better way to go about it would be to ask for theme deck donations or something like that.

It doesn't matter what he said he would do, it matters what he said he will do, that particular quote can also be interpreted as a joke.

But you pointed out that he was asking for money about the hotel room, you said that's what made him shady, not the general asking for money. Asking for theme deck donations would be equally as bad, it's not money but it's still asking for a handout, he could easily turn around and sell those if we're going to assume the worst of him. Which we shouldn't, because we have no viable rational to do so. Also this is still not the appropriate outlet to express this opinion.


EDIT: And there see? he even announced pure intentions for the use of the money, you have no room or justification to post this in this thread.
 
Generally a ";-)" indicates sarcaism, also please note: "I would spend it on a hotel room, HOWEVER i'll be playing the entire time anyways." Its a joke...two senteces previous I stated how I was returning 100% of the funds to the game.

I havn't seen you post any ideas on how the funds should be redistrubuted to the game? Only problems to my solutions....

backwards, it's cool. I have no problem with you whatsoever. I do remember the article and we have talked before.

It's got nothing to do with stealing my spotlight or challenging my title lol.

I just think that if you're going to collect some kind of donation that you should make it theme decks or booster packs. Especially since you stated that if you choose to use the money like that than it saves you loads of time.

Trust me, nothing good comes from getting cash donations, it would just be a mess.

He could easily sell the packs and theme decks, it makes no difference.

Judging by your posts in this thread, you're clearly bandwagoning him really hard. There is NO market for anyone to sell packs from unsealed boxes or theme decks. It makes a world of difference.
 
I unno, I could always mass sell them to the midnight draft....? :p

I don't remembering specifing CASH donations, its just the only form of donations I have been offered thus far. I suppose I said min $5, thats practically the same price as a booster back anyways. Once again, thats only for people who wish to reserve their game number. Everyone else will be first come first serve.

I couldn't care less about him or his attempt at the title. (no offense) I simply am pointing how very innapropriate it is of you to accuse him, and state that you're "not sure why the mods haven't put a stop to this yet," Not only is it in the wrong outlet, not only is it innapropriate to automatically accuse the worst of him, but you have little to no evidence to base it on, and soon after you accused him he annonced his pure intentions. I'm sure backwards would be too modest to care for this, but I think it would be appreciated if you apologized for this blatent faux pas.


And plenty of people buy boxes, the theme decks less so, but he can still sell it, still product, still something to gain. What if his intentions for the money were to obtain boxes and theme decks?

I understand it's the internet, and I understand our day and age, but what I also understand is the correct manner in which to voice this opinion. I apologize for saying you had no "right" to post this opinion in this thread, as we all have the right to post. What I had meant that it does not follow the correct process for this sort of opinion. Next time PM a mod, not post on the thread.

I brought up the cash donation thing because the mods were uneasy about it. Think hard about it Mike, and post your consise plan for any donations before I get up to go to work tommorow - otherwise this will be locked.

We've had threads asking for contributions for vehicles, electronic equipment, for my brother, etc. and for inspecified reasons - they've all been locked. Then we had threads asking for contributions to a cause - like the Adopt-a-Champ, and other causes which remained open despite objections from some, since they were worthy causes. As of yet, we don't see that with you. Believe me Mike, I don't want to rain on your parade, but either lose the contribution aspect, or do something worthwhile with it. No offense meant, but I'm also hoping you truly understand. Furthermore, I'd appreciate it if the topic was returned to the guinness aspect of the thread instead of the money gathering side, and any accusations considered.
 
Thank you P-A, I understand (now) the complications behind the situation and what needs to be done about it.

I am still open for ideas as what the money will go towards, I'm not sure what would be best and it all depends on how much money is raised to begain with.

I will update my OP with a list of ideas that the donations will go towards.
 
Mike what I suggest is buying theme decks to give to an organization maybe something like Santa anonymous who would give them to kids who don`t get presents at christmas. I can not think of any others at this time.

Some people do not know you very well and this does seem iffy so you should accept all donations... pokemon cards packs theme decks ... whatever because you can give it all away to a good cause regardless.
 
Before I "prebook" my game, I'd like to prebook my flight and hotel, :lol:. I should be good for a game, and maybe more than one if need be, but I won't be 100% sure until I book my flight. :thumb:

-Pokemon Swag for those who play me.

-Cooler pokemon Swag for those who beat me.

-Coolest swag for the one who beats me most.

-Pokemon Political Lobbying ;-)...(chess clocks anyone? :lol:)


are acceptable "causes". However you do have some decent causes interspersed there. Take out the unacceptable ones, and commit to one or more of the other worthwhile ones, and you can continue with this line of thought.

How about donations of...

cash (to buy more booster packs and theme decks)
booster packs
theme decks
or other pokemon related toys

To be donated to Toys for Tots :smile:
