Lol. Alaska. Do they even have Pokemon events there?
That would be great. Such a big event may get some attention from local newspapers and generate interest in an area that doesn't seem to have many Pokemon players.
I think the problem there is that the place is so LARGE that it's hard to find other people who play pokemon. Remember, it is 1/3 the size of the rest of the US. Maybe having Worlds there could eliminate the appearance that Pokemon is dead there.

I totally agree with yoshi1001. POP's Worlds location choices don't make me want to go to Worlds. Of course, if invited, I would go no matter where it was, but why try the "same thing" every year?

Have you read the news on Pokebeach. It said next year there will only be 16 players from US going to Worlds. There are other information, but they all might not be true.

A Worlds in Canada would be awesome.

An "invitation only" Worlds. What ever happened to "playing for fun" in these big tournaments? If it does become invitation only, then what will the noninvites do?

I hope its not by some points system like I heard of. Lots of kids that buy cards don;t always go to leagues to get points. Some don't play in every city , state and region they can . So if points our giving by playing attendance that would be lame. Not really the best player just the ones with the most face show.

Just hope they don´t reduce the invites for non U.S. players
Some of the Nationals finalist´s from my country wanted to travel to the worlds but they didn´t have at that moment the U.S. visa requiered to enter to the U.S.
I had that problem, but hopely the U.S. Consulate in my country issued me the VISA so I could participate at the worlds. After that I had solved that inconvinient another one appeared, there where just 5 five days for my departure to the worlds and I didn´t have my air ticket, it was too expensive to travel to Santa Ana, the closest city to Anaheim, but the local distributor wanted me to take the flight to that city.
Well, I´ll try to make it to the first place again the next year, that if we have Nationals.
To all this, are the 2007 Wolds going to take place in Hawaii?

Yes thats the official location as per the sign and logos.

From Pokebeach, there's talk of Nationals being changed to invitation-only.

Seriously??

This is the best move made in Pokemon since Wizards got rid of 15+. <sarcasm>

Quoted for Truth, sarcasm and all.

Though I highly doubt POP and PUI would turn around and do this, if it did happen, I couldn't see much good coming out of it.

We'll just have to live with it if it does happen, but in all honest, nothing good, in my opinion, could come out of making Nationals Invite Only.

If the invites for the Nationals were given at Regionals, States, Gym Challenges and playing in leagues, it would make more people attend these events. It could also boost the number of people attending leagues. An invite-only Nationals in US could not be that bad.

I wonder if an Invite-Only Nationals are going to happen for other countries?

Wait till we see the real plan.
Fighting/ crying over rumor is kinda silly.

And Maybe Nationals wont exist.
Maybe it will be world region championships.
North America
South America
Japan
Europe
Pacific
Etc Etc
SO the big fun styled event would happen in more places and worlds would be a more elite event.

Not really . They have internet ghosts that come here all the time to look at what we post and how we view pokemon. The front page at one time had an article posted something like "You spoke , we listened". So its right to get this out there. And Yes we will have a Nationals.

Why would league participation get you points to play in Nationals? Nationals is Modified. Leagues can choose to be Modified or Unlimited. Making leagues confirm to Modified would actually hurt my player base. Leagues are for imagination and innovative ideas; not for highly competitive play.

An invite-only US Nationals may mean they don't intend to go back to Origins. The Gorn, as much as I like you, your daughter, and the Craigs, I'm not going to spend $300 to go to Ohio to play 3 games of Fluxx and 4 nights of Werewolf :( And, I would not go to Origins just to play in the Professor Cup.

Remember, it might not be true. What I am pretty sure is true is that there will be no Grinders and that Worlds will be invite-only.

If Nationals is invite only, I think we're done.

We play pretty casually these days (because of my daughter's harsh school load) but we choose Origins over GENCON only because of Nationals.

Without that, we're GENCON bound.

do you mean that the one who wins the national will not have an invitation to the worlds? i do not understand, and what will happen with international players??? and how will you be able to atend to a national..? god damn
