Worlds outside of US?

A joke thread it may be, but it does ask a serious question-will Worlds ever be held outside the US. As I've said before, if POP holds worlds in a major US city (say New York, Boston, or Chicago), look to that as a sign they're looking to move it outside the country at some point.

Well, Toronto is a BIG city with tons of stuff to do. We do ahve a large player base and we do have the CN Tower. It would be a treat. Oh, and its outside of the USA

Somalian Pirates are apparently adept at stealing 1,000 ft. tall monuments.

Hey, I live in Utah in the USA, and I thought that drivable Canada would be good (for us at least, but outside of the U.S would be really interesting. How close is Toronto to the Canadian border?

Well ... Toronto is around 4 hours from the Detroit/Windsor or the Sarnia border (since if you drive from Utah, the Niagara Falls border can be ignored). Though IFF POP puts Worlds in Canada, they might do it in Niagara Falls since it is a tourist trap and the hotel cost will probably be less expensive than in downtown Toronto.

I would think Vancouver is more likely than Toronto; it has better (summer) weather, is on the ocean, the mountains are right there, and half of Japan already lives there anyways. And it's hard to find a major city that's closer to another country's border.

let's look at the big picture.there is a 0 percent possibility that "worlds" would ever be outside of US because of one simple reason-the pricing.but if there would be weorlds outside of the US i think that the
attendance would be record breaking. The ideal place would be in a small country in Europe like Switzerland,Italy so that you ...the US players would be able to see what an average european player has to go through to even get to worlds.i think one of the ideal "solutions" would be one country every year without repeating.but we shall see how it goes...perhaps in 20 or 40 years there will be worlds outside US.:smile:
