No Blue Dragon or Zelda in the Top 30. Zelda's absence can be attributed to the lack of Wiis available (and the fact that no one wants the "inferior" GC version I suppose) but that doesn't seem to stop Wii Sports and Pokemon. I'm so glad I own a DS and a Wii. :D

I feel compelled to bow to Wild Arms 5 for being The Lone Ranger there. LOL

heres some food for thought...
if there is a lack of Wii's then how come Pokemon Battle Rev. and Wii Sports are there?

There is a lack of Wiis. However, this means the attach rate in Japan for Wii Sports is really great. Pokemon Battle Revolution is also selling well because it's new and it's Pokemon. However, Zelda is doing worse than those (and Wii Play). There's no denying that. However, the lack of Wiis are probably hurting it's sales more because its not a "no duh" for the mainstream Japanese audience. Which means that those people who want Zelda are in the minority and thus it is harder for one of them to be able to purchase one with all those Pokemon fanatics and DS lovers lining up. ;\ The lack of Wiis are definately holding back sales all across the board. It just hurts Zelda more because its only the 4th popular of them all.

EDIT:

Hardware sales for Japan for last week:
DSL 319,708
Wii 108,237
PS3 70,942
PSP 48,962
PS2 37,730
Xbox360 17,168
GBASP 1,867
GBM 1,491
GC 1,152
DS 158
GBA 42
Xbox 3

The Top 3 selling out completely every week, of course.

Also, While Zelda did not hit the T30, it came in at #33 while Blue Dragon plummeted to #46.

The Top 50 looked like this:
System: #of games in T50
NDS:31
PS2:7
Wii:6
PSP:2
PS3:2
GBA:1
XBOX360:1

Also, apparently the Wii has sold more than PS3+360 together in Japan. :D Here's some PIE CHARTS! Nintendowned.

Also, the Wii is enjoying a nice 2.0 software tie ratio (meaning that for every Wii bought two Wii games were bought) while the PS3 has an abysmal .84 software tie ratio (meaning not even one game was sold for every PS3 sold).

I gotta show this thread to my friend just to show him that DS is killing the PSP in Japan. Now I just need to find if DS is killing PSP in the west.

Wii Dominate Pie Charts

Moar charts

PSP Title as a #2 and #11 are suprising. Even though they did launch along a newly colored PSP during the holiday season and in bundles. (Both MGS and TotW were made into limited edition PSP bundles) However, I don't expect them to perform nearly as well this week. Especially since Dragon Quest Monsters: Joker is released on the DS this week. :D

As usual, information is taken from the most recent MediaCreate thread on GAF.

PSwhat?

My store got 8 PS3s in this morning, the first one didn't sell until 2:30 PM, and there were still 4 left when we closed at 10 PM...

And I still get dozens of people asking me if we have any Wiis.

Yeah, my friend works at Walmart, and his store had four 60gig PS3's just lying there. ^_^

By the way, how large and frequent are the Wii shipments on average anyway?

I thought Pokemon Diamond/Pearl already sold 5 millions units.

I wonder if these PS3 are lying around because nobody knows that they were shipped.

These are last week's numbers. It may very well break 5 mil this week. Besides, I think they said 5 million units were shipped.

Professor_Chris said:

Weekly, 12-18 units, and we get lines starting at midnight every single shipment.

I wonder if these PS3 are lying around because nobody knows that they were shipped.

Anyone that gives a crap will know they're shipped. People line up at midnight for our Wiis, and there are sites which track both Wii and PS3 shipments.

I don't even get people asking me if we have PS3s anymore, everyone asks if we have any Wiis.

Nintendo Domination. MGS is doing suprisingly well for a PSP game. Sales are obviously down this week but DS and Wii are still under supply restraints. I assume they were holding back for last week which is supposed to be bigger for sales. So, later today when I get MC numbers from last week we'll see. :D
