Pokémon TCG: Sword and Shield—Brilliant Stars

Wow Japan is weird

It's not a good sign when the next gen video game system is being outsold by the console it was supposed to replace.

Yep, Nintendo owns the world right now. No questions asked.

Least we won't have to worry about Iwata making the same mistakes (such as driving 3rd parties off) and going mad with power like a certain other Nintendo president . . . he seems like a much more sensible person. :)

All hail Iwata and our new Nintendo overlords!

EDIT: It's an even worse sign when they're both being outsold by the PSP.

Woah!! Didn't even notice that!!! Well, at least the PSP has been margainally successful as marketing itself as a video and MP3 player rather than a gaming device, so I guess that's where those sales are coming in...

I'm confused. Why San Andreas is a new game and why is it made by Capcom?

Also do you know how many units Pokemon Diamond/Pearl sold in total. I just want to see if they passed 5 million.

And GTA would be labled "NEW" because it is--in Japan. Launched last week and all. I didn't even pay attention to it as I was copying it, but I suppose it is published by Capcom.

Because the original post is just too awesome this week to pass up, I present to you the link: http://www.neogaf.com/forum/showthread.php?t=141651

Hardware numbers tomorrow as usual. GTA's legs suprised me. Yay for Hotel Dusk! Such a good game. I feel bad I bummed a copy off my friend instead of supporting it. . .but, well, not enough monies for everything I want. Brain Ages, Animal Crossing and NSMB continue to be beasts. Wii Sports and Play are doing real well too. Sports should hit 1 million next week. Which is pretty huge to have a million seller so soon, especially under supply constraints. The tie ratio on that game is rediculous. Play will take a few more weeks but it looks like the Wii will have two million sellers before long. Crazy.

Interesting Statistic:
The DS took 87 weeks to cross 10m
The DS is going to take 114 weeks to cross 15m
(26 weeks to go from 10m to 15m)

The PS2 took 137 weeks to cross 10m
The PS2 is going to take 220 weeks to cross 15m
(83 weeks to go from 10m to 15m)
Should be "took" for PS2 to 15m though since it's at 20m+ right now.

PS2+soccer=bigboom. That was pretty much given.

NSMB is still up there. What's it been? 3 months? At least?

Love how NDS is absolutely pwning everything out there right now. Keep it up, Nintendo!!!

NSMB has hung around the Top 10 for well over a year now I believe. Though it usually gets bumped out of the T10 every once in a while due to high profile releases. The thing is about to surpass Super Mario World sales in Japan and if it keeps going like this it's destined to beat even Super Mario Brothers (best selling game evar in Japan. . . if you count Pokemon versions seperate.).

Back to back posts merged. The following information has been added:

Added T50 and Hardware. Numbers down all across the board. Not sure if Wii was supply constrained or not (anecdotal evidence says "yes, it was"), but it's probably safe to say it was. I wish M-06 would have placed higher. It looked so nifty. :C Maybe if it's awesome word of mouth will get around and it'll jump up. Idolm@ster totally disappeared while Enchant Arm barely hung in there. Poor 360. :'(

PS3 numbers continue to be absolutely abyssmal. Wii numbers also seem oddly low. They may have allocated more to other territories that week. DS is down but it's still a beast so no one dares question it. ~3-4 weeks 'til DS passes the GBA mark assuming the DS stays around 150k. (I know I said 3 last week but I thought it might stay 'round the 200k mark <_<).

Virtua Fighter 5 came out for PS3 yesterday in Japan. I'm eager to see just what it may have done to PS3 sales. A lot of people have been talking like it will cause a nice spike in sales (like double what it sold this week), so I can't wait to see what becomes of the PS3 during the release of a relatively high profile game.

Sales are rather low all around for software. DQM:J is supply constrained again I believe. VF5, despite being 1st, is a complete bomb. Argueably PS3's major release for this time frame, <50k first week sales is terrible (150k shipped, they didn't have high expectations to begin with). ON THE OTHER HAND, Wii Sports hits 1 million! Wii has it's first million seller already (it may even be some sort of record) and PS3 software struggles to break 100k. Hardware and T50 tomorrow. Regretably, Cooking Momma Wii did not outsell VF5 (this week), in fact, it didn't even place in the T30. So sad. =(

Fun Fact brought to us by GAF:
AniHawk said:
NSMB = best selling handheld Mario in Japan, and second best selling Mario game in Japan period
Apparently, NSMB recently passed Super Mario Land. The only thing left for it to topple is the original Famicom Super Mario Bros. at 6.81 million (best selling game of all time in Japan--as long as Pokemon versions are counted seperately).

DS is a BEAST. 200k units with relatively low software sales for the week. Looks like a lot of people are picking up some of the older games that don't make top cut. Certainly a healthy sign. DS is soooooo close to that GBA LTD. NEXT WEEK!
