Pokémon TCG: Sword and Shield—Brilliant Stars

Yamato Marathon: We're not Worthy!

Yeah, i played vs Yamato...Got my butt handed to me...but i can proudly stamp on my butt that i got pwned my the World Champ of 04' and in my opinion the best player in the world.

Tom

I was one of his last challengers after 12 hours of play. He obliged me with 2 games, both of which lasted two of his turns =/ Amazing player, amazing deck, and one of the funniest men i know. He ripped 5 tails in a row in one turn, his facial expressions are to die for, not to mention the certain "evolution" he mad to his main attacker. I feel privledged to have faced such a great player, and to have seen such a masterful deck at work. Can't wiat to test it myself =)

I like his secret tech card.... hopefully you guys know what I mean. Freshly pulled from a booster that very night!

Yeah, the Yamachine was really fun to watch work, just goes to show you how important matchups are. He's definitely a funny/nice guy, hopefully he makes it to next year's worlds so we can all get schooled again.

i went 0-3 against the Japanese, 0-2 against Yamato, game 1 was just me getting turn 2'd, the 2nd game was close I was an energy away from winning, but he found a way to win... 6-5, I wish I didn't lay donw the Jirachi in retrospect, stupid of me, oh well, life goes on... those who were watching know what I'm talking of :-D

I thought I also could've gotten Goh game 3... he has 2 dark in discard one on active dark steelix nothing much on bench just feebas I admin him down to 2 and he gets the 4th dark to OHKO my c`argo that's doing 40... had he not done so he does 70, I do 40 more... if he milotics at this point I lose I guess but if not I ATM rock for the win! good game never the less.

The Japanese players are definitely superior to us... some of their deck contents I was not in agreeance with, but maybe since they're superior they're thinking on another level than me :-D. twas fun meeting them, they're nice/funny.

EDIT!: actually I'd say America has more solid players but Japan has THE best players in the game, I feel so inferior now :(, I must improve my game :-D

I never have seen such a polite and sportive player.
He accepted every player to play, he was on his chair for hours, only taking a quick drink once in a while.
Imagine what he did, it was great and this guy deserves anybody's full respect.
No attitude, just playing, playing, playing, that's having a heart for this game, never forget that.

The other japanese player (I think its Goh) is still at the hotel and guess what he was doing yesterday at the pool:
Playing.

Nidoqueen auto-wins vs ZRE that's all im saying, but yeah he is one hell of a player, i admire him you can't get much more good than that, the dedication is outstanding.

Yes Yamato is the best player in the world he thinks through everything and never makes a mistake even after playing games for 8 hours straight. I defintly thought a funny moment was when Yamato just won a game someone yelled he's not that great and someone else yells out I don't see anyone asking you to sign cards

You knw why He(Yamato deserves the capital) is so good? Because he cares more than we do. The casual will never beat the obsessed. He played more games that day than I play all year, and His record is better. They win because they care more. (Douglass Adams, Life, The Universe, And Everything...)

Their was a line of people to play to him and he sat their and played everyone who challenged him not becuase he was obbessed if people didn't ask him to play I doubt he would have been their all that time

I didn't say He was obsessed with playing everyone, just that He cares more about the game than you and I do, and I care about it a lot. He is an incredibly dedicated player, and that and the invincibility we attribute to Him makes Him so good.

His dedication is just typical Japanese mentallity. They put a lot of mental and pysical work in pretty much everything they do. It's a country self sufficent with the technology and many other goods they manufacture/develope. It doesn't mean they are better than other countries, they just look at things differently than a lot even have to. I mean look at Kobayashi.

And kind of like what Logion was saying, a lot of it is mental. If everyone thinks your so amazing it's pretty easy to constantly be in a groove and make little to none mistakes. People make mistakes when they are nervous and intimidated.

You're reading my psychology textbook. When I'm in an enviroment where people think I'm unbeatable, I usually am. It's not limited to TCGs either. A reputation means quite a lot in anything competitive.

Had NOTHING to do with intimidation or nervousness. He played so many different decks and had little trouble beating them all.

He IS amazing, and that's why he won so many games- NOT because opponents were intimidated or nervous. He ALWAYS knew what to regardless of what deck his opponent was playing. It was an amazing display- one i feel lucky to have witnessed!

And both him and Goh are really cool too. They could be arrogant and all full of them selves if they wanted to . Instead, they are just the opposite :)

Pablo , I beg to differ , At 3 AM what was everyone chanting? "Somebody go wake up Jeremy bring down his trophy and play Yamato!" How many people pulled out $100? Sniper , SteveP. , and a hand full of other at 5 to 1 odds. I mean seriously , If yamato plays any other deck besides ludi I honestly believe he doubles up on Worlds.
