Last word on the subject of marked sleeves and competitive play. Marked sleeves are just that marked. We never call players names. We simply point out the facts that are in evidence. When a player plays with sleeves that are marked whether it is intentional or not they will be disqualified for playing with marked cards. All of you can check the penalty guidelines that is the right penalty.
Last year players did things that were out of character for pokemon. People were asking me if Pokemon was becoming too competitive. When players look for every edge they can get that is becoming competitive. Some players know the penalty guideliness which is great. Some of these believe that just because an event is only 16 K the judges caon't call certain things or disqualify players. That is the wrong thinking. Marked cards are still marked cards whether the tourney is run at 16 K or 48K.
Judges don't disqualify players. Judges don't game loss players Players do that to themselves with their actions. It is just like baseball. Judges are the umpires. If a batter swings and misses a pitch they get a strike the umpire didn't give the player the strike, the player earned the strike. With that in mind when you play with marked sleeves you get panalized. If a few of them are marked it can be a game loss(we had a few of those last year at regionals). or if a lot of them are marked in a pattern it can be a disqualification. Either way the judge doesn't mark the sleeves, we just look at the facts.
Do ask a judge to check your sleeves,
Do resleeve if they are marked
Do bring along extra sleeves of the same color so you can change ones that get marked during the tournament.
Don't play with MARKED SLEEVES
It really isn't hard to do.
have a great day everyone
